Trump expresses "disappointment" over failure to reach peace agreement between Russia, Ukraine
Washington - Saba: US President Donald Trump has expressed his disappointment over the failure to reach an agreement to resolve the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, as well as the actions of both parties in this regard. Trump said in press statements on Thursday at a White House event, commenting on the failure to reach an agreement between the two parties to resolve the conflict: "I'm very familiar with this situation. I'm disappointed with Russia, but I'm also disappointed with Ukraine. I'm sorry that this has not been resolved yet." Trump had previously confirmed that Russia was ready to conclude an agreement to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, and that an agreement with Volodymyr Zelensky remained. Later, Trump stated that he had set a deadline for concluding a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine and expressed his optimism about the possibility of ending the Ukrainian conflict. The Russian and American presidents held two phone calls. On February 12, President Putin discussed the Ukrainian issue with his American counterpart, as well as the accumulated problems in relations between the two countries. The two presidents agreed to continue contacts, including arranging personal meetings. A phone call also took place on March 18. During the conversation, issues of settlement in Ukraine and the Middle East, as well as bilateral relations, were discussed. President Putin then expressed his support for Trump's idea for a ceasefire in Ukraine, but with some reservations. He immediately ordered a halt to strikes on energy facilities, despite no response to the initiative from the Kyiv regime. Whatsapp Telegram Email Print more of (International)

Washington-Saba: US President Donald Trump confirmed on Thursday that families of US diplomats had left the Middle East due to "potential danger," amid escalating tensions in the region. In remarks reported by the American Fox News network, Trump said in response to a question about the departure of families of US diplomats due to the escalation with Iran: "They're being taken out now because it could get dangerous, and we'll see what happens, and we've given them a heads-up to get out." Regarding Iran, Trump added: "They can't have a nuclear weapon, very simple. They can't have a nuclear weapon, and we won't let them." Last Wednesday evening, a US official told Sputnik: "Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has authorized the voluntary departure of military families from locations within the Central Command's area of responsibility." He added that "US Central Command (CENTCOM) is monitoring the escalating tensions in the Middle East and is coordinating with the US State Department and US allies to provide support to any US mission around the world."
