'Roti like papad...': AAP Leader's wife slams Tejas Express food, IRCTC responds with ‘no one else complained'
In her post, Anita Singh shared a photo of the food and wrote, 'The roti was as hard as papad, the paneer was stale, and instead of dal, only water was served. Is this the Railways' 'world-class' service? Stop playing with passengers' health!'
The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) responded promptly to the post, stating, 'We wish to inform you that the quality of the food is checked before serving, and no complaints in this regard have been received from other passengers in the said coach; rather, the catering has generally been appreciated.'
'The catering team attended to you and offered a replacement meal. Nevertheless, we have taken your feedback seriously,' IRCTC said in its official response, adding that a senior official has now been appointed to ensure quality compliance and further improve standards.
The incident sparked mixed reactions online. While some users shared similar grievances about food quality on premium trains, others defended IRCTC and praised their overall service on the Tejas Express.
However, many users were unimpressed with the official response and questioned the lack of consistent quality across coaches and journeys.
A user wrote, 'Such a ridiculous answer shows how diligent you are with your service. It's high time you improve your service and take customer complaints seriously, rather than defending yourself. Everyone is aware of corrupt practices being done by catering staff in trains.'
Another user commented, 'Quality inspection conducted despite which you serve a meal like that - your quality control is broken. 'No one else complained'? That's so pathetic! If everyone complains, you will lose your job, and Railways will cease to exist.'
'This reply shows the arrogance, offering food which is not up to mark and not good means your team need to check the same than giving a reply that nobody complains, who will do so as of now the vendors started fighting in too in many cases,' the third user wrote.
|The Tejas Express is marketed as a high-end, semi-high-speed train offering modern amenities and upgraded services, including onboard meals, to enhance the passenger experience.

Former SAD leader Harmeet Singh Sandhu to join AAP today ahead of Tarn Taran bypoll
Former three-time MLA from Tarn Taran, Harmeet Singh Sandhu, 56, is likely to join Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the presence of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday. His induction in the party is being linked to an upcoming Assembly byelection necessitated after the demise of sitting AAP MLA Kashmir Singh Sohal on June 27. The constituency was subsequently declared vacant by Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Sandhwan. AAP may field him from Taran Tarn in the byelection. The Assembly bypoll in Taran Tarn, which has to be conducted within six months after the announcement of the constituency falling vacant, has not been announced yet. Sandhu was considered close to SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia, who is in Nabha jail currently after being arrested by the Vigilance Bureau in a disproportionate assets case. He had quit SAD in November last year, handing his resignation to then acting president Balwinder Singh Bhunder. He had cited personal reasons for the resignation. Ever since, conjectures were being made about his plans. AAP has been looking for a befitting candidate from Tarn Taran, especially after all political parties have been keenly watching the support for radicals in the area. During the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh was elected from Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha seat while he was in the Dibrugarh jail in Assam after being named an accused under the National Security Act. Sandhu was elected MLA from Tarn Taran thrice—in 2002, 2007 and then again in 2012—but he lost in 2017 and 2022. He joined AAP when Congress was ruling the state. He became a part of active politics in Tarn Taran by joining the family of former MP Surinder Singh Kairon and contested the elections as an Independent candidate in 2002. At the time, the Shiromani Akali Dal had given a ticket to Alwinder Pal Singh Pakhoke from Tarn Taran, while Sandhu kept claiming the ticket. After not getting the ticket, Sandhu took political support from Kairon and contested the elections as an Independent candidate from Tarn Taran and won.

Congress, AAP politicising sensitive issue of sacrilege, says Akali Dal
Chandigarh: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Tuesday asserted both the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab are politicising the sensitive issue of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib for their political ambitions even as it asked Leader of Opposition Partap Bajwa to tell why the previous Congress government did nothing to either probe or punish the perpetrators responsible for this heinous crime. Reacting to Bajwa's statement in the Vidhan Sabha in which the former claimed that the AAP government had failed to charge sheet both former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, who was the Home Minister, in the cases of sacrilege of 2015, Akali Dal Vice-President Parambans Romana condemned Bajwa for showing double standards on this sensitive issue. Reminding Bajwa that he had held protests along with Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and demanded the sacrilege case be transferred to the CBI in a memorandum to the President, Romana said, 'Bajwa, however, changed colours once the Congress formed the government in the state in 2017.' He said Bajwa remained a mute spectator when the Congress government got the sacrilege cases transferred back to the state from the CBI and did not conduct any investigation on the basis of law or facts. The SAD leader said like the AAP government now, the Congress government also held special sessions of the Vidhan Sabha with the sole purpose of doing politics on this issue. Speaking about the party's stand, Romana said that then Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal had transferred the sacrilege cases to the CBI in the interest of justice. He said the conduct of both Congress and AAP governments revealed that they did not want any justice in the sacrilege cases. He also exposed Bajwa for praising AAP suspended legislator Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh. 'It is a matter of record that the Punjab and Haryana High Court snubbed the investigation carried out by Kunwar Vijay in his role as a police officer and held that it was a dangerous cocktail of politics, religion and police administration.' He said following this observation, Kunwar Vijay quit the police force and joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The Akali leader also asserted that the Congress was least qualified to speak on the issue of sacrilege. 'This is the party which attacked Sri Darbar Sahib with tanks and mortars and destroyed Sri Akal Takht Sahib.' He said the Congress was also responsible for the massacre of thousands of Sikhs in Delhi and other parts of the country. Romana said similarly, AAP legislator Naresh Yadav had been convicted for being responsible for the sacrilege of the holy Quran in Malerkotla. He said instead of showing Yadav the door, AAP had rewarded him with a party ticket in the recent Vidhan Sabha elections. 'The AAP government in Punjab has also done nothing to punish the sacrilege perpetrators and has been busy politicising this issue,' he added. After three hours of intense debate on allegations and counter-allegations, the Vidhan Sabha unanimously decided to refer the highly emotive Punjab Prevention of Offences Against Holy Scriptures Bill of 2025 to a select committee for consultation with all stakeholders. On the suggestion of both the treasury and the opposition benches, Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan said the select committee would gather public opinion on the Bill and return with recommendations within six months. Earlier, the Chief Minister proposed a four-month timeline. The Bill proposes stringent penalties for sacrilege-related offences, prescribing a minimum sentence of 10 years, extendable to life imprisonment, along with fines ranging from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. The holy scriptures referred to in the Bill are Guru Granth Sahib or extracts thereof, the Bhagavad Gita, the Quran and the Bible.

New Delhi [India], July 15 (ANI): On Tuesday, Arvind Kejriwal on X called out the BJP governement in Delhi as 'a four-engine government have completely failed' after the continuous bomb threats received at educational institutions on two consecutive days in Delhi. Kejriwal took to X and said, 'What's happening in Delhi? Yesterday, two schools received bomb threats, and today, another school and college got threats. Children are scared, parents are extremely worried. BJP's four-engine governments have completely failed.' AAP leader, Atishi, also shared on X, 'The continuous bomb threats to schools and colleges in Delhi are extremely terrifying and worrisome. Children are scared, parents are distressed - the BJP's four-engine governments have proven incapable of even providing security. Does the safety of children hold no importance for them? Law and order have completely collapsed.' Today, Delhi's St. Thomas School in Delhi's Dwarka and St. Stephen's College of the University of Delhi received bomb threats. The threat was sent to the Delhi Police's mail at 7:15 AM stating that a bomb had been planted in the college's library. After the evacuation of both locations and a thorough AS check by the Delhi Police Bomb Squad, Dog Squad, Delhi Fire Brigade team, and Special Staff team, nothing suspicious was found, according to the Delhi Police. On Monday, two schools in Chanakyapuri and the Dwarka area of Delhi also received bomb threats via Delhi Police mail. All of them turned out to be hoaxes as no explosives were found in the combing operation, the Delhi Police claims. The police further said that there were anti-Tamil Nadu government messages sent to Chanakyapuri school via email. The police added that they are investigating these threats. Earlier on July 10, Aam Aadmi Party ( AAP) Delhi President Saurabh Bharadwaj and other leaders took to X, shared images of waterlogged streets and slammed the BJP for its alleged failure to tackle flooding, even with all four 'engines' in power. Sharing photos of waterlogging in Lutyens' Delhi, AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj said, 'This is Lutyens' Delhi. Just an hour of rain, and this is the state of the road near the official residence of PWD, Irrigation and Flood Control Minister Parvesh Verma.' Alleging failed promises from teh BJP, Saurabh Bharadwaj said, 'BJP's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, PWD Minister Parvesh Verma, and other ministers and leaders made tall claims that Delhi won't drown this year. They said all necessary preparations had been made to prevent waterlogging. If everything was in place, then why did Delhi flood after just one hour of rain?' (ANI)
