XL bully bites four-year-old girl on river footpath
The girl was on a footpath by the River Irwell in the Kersal area of Salford when the attack happened between 2 and 3pm on Saturday, Greater Manchester Police said.
The force is now appealing for more information following the attack and has asked anyone with any information to get in touch.
A spokesperson from Greater Manchester Police said: 'We are appealing for information following an incident which saw an XL bully bite a four-year-old child on footpath of the River Irwell in Kersal between 2 and 3pm on Saturday 19 July.'

Covered in blood, the schoolboy was rushed to hospital in Bangor before being transferred to Alder Hey children's hospital in Liverpool where he was treated for serious injuries. The prosecution said :'Police found, despite the two stab wounds, the dog was still alive. Caio had a catalogue of wounds including to the ear, shoulder, face and arm and was seen by a plastic surgery team. If I had known there had been an XL Bully at the address I would never have let Caio go in. They have a bad reputation.' She described seeing his ear torn and thumb ripped. She added: 'He was asking me 'why me, why me, I didn't do anything wrong. "Caio could have been killed that day. I think about what could have happened.' She said her son has since suffered ongoing nightmares and has been given a nickname at school which "triggers" him. The prosecutor added that Parry had 33 offences on his record including for violence and drug matters. Defence barrister Simon Killeen said Parry has a wife and four children, is a hard worker and has 'absolutely genuine remorse.' The dog required an exemption certificate to keep it, he added, but Parry had failed to ensure payment had been made for it.

Girl under 16 ‘sexually assaulted at city centre nightclub' as 18-year-old arrested
A GIRL under 16 has been "sexually assaulted" at a city centre nightclub. An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of raping the girl at a nightclub in Digbeth, Birmingham last Sunday. West Midlands Police have launched an urgent investigation into the assault. The man has since been released on bail while inquiries continue. The force said: "On Sunday, July 27, the venue was open and trading. 'During the nights trading a serious assault took place inside the venue. 'This matter is a serious crime by virtue of the sentence tariff for the offence alleged. 'West Midlands Police have serious concerns for the promotion of the licensing objectives at this premises. 'The premises have been carrying out licensable activity when the incident occurred and the premises has been in breach of its operating conditions of its premises licence. 'In my opinion immediate steps are required that can best be achieved through the summary review procedures.' 1

Gardaí investigating murder of Fiona Sinnott conclude search
Gardaí investigating the disappearance and murder of Fiona Sinnott have concluded a search operation on open ground at a location in Co Wexford. Ms Sinnott was the 19-year-old mother of an 11-month-old baby girl when she disappeared from her home village of Broadway in 1998. Gardaí said the results of the searches are not being released for operational reasons, but the family has been updated. A spokesperson said: 'This investigation remains ongoing.
