Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par will feature a very special cameo—his 90-year-old mother, Zeenat Khan, makes her acting debut in a heartwarming scene.
As the release of Sitaare Zameen Par draws closer, Aamir Khan has added a deeply personal and heartwarming twist to the excitement surrounding the film. In a recent media interaction, the actor revealed that his 90-year-old mother, Zeenat Khan, will be making her first-ever appearance on screen — and in none other than his own film.
A spiritual sequel to the 2007 masterpiece Taare Zameen Par, this new offering also stars Genelia Deshmukh in a pivotal role and brings together a cast of 10 neurodivergent actors. But what's stirring hearts now is the revelation of a surprise cameo that makes the film all the more intimate for Aamir and his family.
Recounting the unforgettable moment, Aamir shared how it all began unexpectedly. His mother, who had never shown interest in visiting any of his film sets, one day expressed a sudden desire to see where he was shooting. 'I was surprised," Aamir recalled. 'She's never asked before. But she told me one morning she wanted to come. So my sister brought her to the set in a wheelchair."
The scene being shot that day was a vibrant wedding number — a celebration — and director RS Prasanna saw an opportunity. He approached Aamir with a request that was equal parts respectful and spontaneous: would his mother consider appearing as a guest in the scene?
Initially unsure of how she'd respond, Aamir gently brought it up with her. To his surprise and joy, she said yes.
'She was there for a few shots. It wasn't planned at all, but it became one of the most memorable moments of the shoot. This is the only film of mine she's ever been a part of," he said with visible emotion.
But that's not all. Aamir's sister, too, will be seen in Sitaare Zameen Par — marking their first time working together on screen. 'She's an actress herself, and who knows — maybe we'll collaborate again," he added.
The film, directed by RS Prasanna, carries the legacy of Taare Zameen Par forward, this time highlighting stories of neurodivergent individuals. The ensemble includes Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar — each contributing a slice of authenticity to the film's narrative on inclusion and empathy.
Slated for release on June 20, 2025, Sitaare Zameen Par isn't just another film from Aamir Khan — it's a heartfelt family milestone, a celebration of representation, and a testament to the quiet, unexpected magic that sometimes happens when the cameras are rolling.

Aamir Khan recalls almost working with Mani Ratnam on ‘Lajo': 'Hope we collaborate soon'

Aamir Khan has revealed that he came close to collaborating with acclaimed filmmaker Mani Ratnam on a film titled 'Lajo', an adaptation of Ismat Chughtai's short story Gharwali, back in 2007. The project, which stirred considerable buzz at the time, ultimately didn't materialise. In a recent interview with Galatta, Aamir clarified that contrary to past reports, the film was not shelved due to creative differences between him and Mani Ratnam. ' We wanted to work with each other and almost did, Lajo, but that didn't work out for some third reason. Nothing to do with him and me,' Aamir said, adding that he remains a great admirer of the Ponniyin Selvan director and hopes to work with him in the future. Aamir's Admiration for Mani Ratnam Calling himself a 'huge fan' of Mani Ratnam, Aamir revealed that the two have met several times and shared great conversations. 'I have been to his house, spoken at length. He's someone whose work I truly respect,' Aamir noted. While Lajo may not have taken off, fans of both cinematic mavericks remain hopeful for a future collaboration that brings their creative energies together. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Keep Your Home Efficient with This Plug-In elecTrick - Save upto 80% on Power Bill Learn More Undo What's Next for Aamir Khan Aamir is currently promoting his much-anticipated comeback film 'Sitaare Zameen Par', which releases on June 20.
