Jake Paul sparring footage leaves fans concerned ahead of boxing return
The American is set to make a return to action next month, but fans have been left concerned by the social media star's recently released sparring footage
Jake Paul has left fans uninspired as he released new sparring footage ahead of his return to the ring this summer. The 'Problem Child' is scheduled to take on Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in a cruiserweight clash set on June 28 in Anaheim.
This marks Paul's first fight since he cruised to a decision victory over former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson last November. Chavez Jr - who holds a professional record of 54-6-1 - emerged victorious against former UFC middleweight contender Uriah Hall in his most recent match this past July. The Mexican's notable past opponents include Andy Lee, Canelo Alvarez, Daniel Jacobs, and ex-UFC champ Anderson Silva.
As the highly-anticipated showdown draws near, both fighters are intensifying their respective training camps. On Monday afternoon, Paul decided to show off how his training was going to his millions of followers on Instagram.
Paul, 28, was seen on the front foot and attacking his sparring partner with a wide range of strikes up top. The footage has since gone viral on social media - with many left uninspired by the clip. "I could have sworn he was better than this… what happened?" One fan wrote.
Another user commented: "He looks worse than he did 3 years ago," while another posted: "He needs to drop weight, he's so slow and sluggish this heavy." A fourth replied: "He hasn't gotten better in like five years. Hella impressive." Another commented: "I thought he would be looking better than that tbh," while another boxing fan posted: "Hasn't improved at all since the Woodley fights."
Should the 'Problem Child' emerge victorious and unscathed from his bout with Chavez Jr, the American is keen on a rematch with Tommy Fury and has even been in talks with the Brit's elder sibling, Tyson. Paul faced off against Fury in Saudi Arabia back in 2023, where despite scoring a knockdown in the final round, he lost on points.
Since their first meeting, the two have continued to exchange insults online, fuelling speculation about a potential rematch. In a recent chat with Ariel Helwani, Paul said: "I think the Fury fight will happen in the next 12 months, yeah. He just has to be realistic about what's he's worth, right?"
He said. "He just had a free fight on DAZN that tanked, couldn't sell the tickets in wherever he was like a 1,000 person venue and he's just negotiating like he's God. Again, I have ten names waiting to fight me in multiple different sports, MMA, boxing, all this stuff. These people just have to be realistic about what they're wanting to get paid and Tommy Fury isn't.
"But I DM'd Tyson Fury because Tyson was like, 'You guys need to make this happen now.' I was like, 'Tyson, you've got to put your brother in check here. He's not going to get this money or this offer anywhere else.' He already missed out on the massive opportunity on Netflix, his dad, who is his manager has no idea what the f*** he's doing and you can't let your dad run your career. Tommy's not his own boss, he's an airhead as well so I just feel bad for him because he thinks he's worth more than what he's worth."
Earlier this year, Paul's team revealed that Fury turned down a £6million offer to rematch on Netflix before 'Iron Mike' accepted the deal back in November. "I just can't wait to get back in there with this guy because in the past three years, I fought him two years into being a pro boxer now it's been three years since then," Paul continued.
"It's just night and day and he hasn't got any better, right? He's been boxing since he was six years old, it's going to be the same stuff, same coach, his dumbass dad. He hasn't got any better so I just can't wait, seriously I can't wait to get in there with him and whenever we can make that happen it's going to be Christmas Day for me."

Singer Justin Bieber concerned fans with his latest social media posts, and many users asked him to take a break from Instagram Justin Bieber went on another rant on social media, and fans rushed to beg the singer to take a 'break from social media'. The 31-year-old Peaches singer has been concerning fans in recent weeks with his erratic online behaviour, which included lengthy rants to shocking admissions about his wife Hailey Bieber's US Vogue cover. In his latest Instagram post, over a pink background, he shared with his followers: "Telling other humans they deserve something is like raising someone else's kids. Who are you to tell someone what someone should or shouldn't have. The audacity. That's not your place. God decides what we deserve." Fans immediately shared their worries for the star in the comment section, with one user writing: "God told me you need a social media break," as over 21,000 fans liked the comment. "Brother didn't you tell your wife she could never be on the cover of vogue??" one person referenced his recent admission about a fight he had with his wife. Justin. You told Hailey she couldn't be on a cover of Vogue, isn't that telling her she couldn't have something ?" another person commented. Sorry singer Justin, who was recently centre of rumours surrounding his marriage to Hailey, was recently slammed by fans after he said he told his wife and mum of his son, Jack Blues, that she would never grace the cover of Vogue during a heated argument. Responding to her cover shot for the US edition of the magazine on Instagram, he mused: "'Yo, this reminds me when Hailey and I got into a huge fight, I told Hails that she would never be on the cover of Vogue. Yikes, I know, so mean. For some reason because I felt so disrespected, I thought I gotta get even. "Think as we mature we realise that we're not helping anything by getting even, we're honestly just prolonging what we really want which is intimacy and connection." He concluded his post by writing a message directly to Hailey, which read: "So baby u already know but forgive me for saying u wouldn't get a Vogue cover cuz clearly I was sadly mistaken." While some claimed he was simply joking, many slammed the Canadian singer over his comments. He soon replaced the caption with a shrugging emoji. Fans noticed the change, with one writing: "Not him changing the caption." Not long after, it was revealed Hailey struck a huge deal to sell her beauty and skincare brand Rhode to e.l.f. Beauty in a transaction that could reach a staggering £740 million ($1billion).

Taking to Instagram, she captioned the clip: 'this one's about you!! 'Manchild' is out this Thursday 6/5 8pm EST♥️ special 7' vinyl available now'.' A teaser of the vinyl also revealed the words: 'Inside of your head when you've just won an argument with a man.' While Sabrina didn't explicitly say it was about Irish actor Barry Keoghan – who is set to play Ringo Starr in the upcoming four-part Beatles biopic film series – fans wasted no time in believing it was about the pair, considering their split last year. Sabrina and Barry were first connected in September 2023, making their first public appearance together at Grammys after-party in February 2024. They later attended the MET Gala together, with Barry being seen on the side of the stage throughout some of Sabrina's performances. The actor, who shot to fame in Saltburn and Banshees of Inisherin, later had a starring role in her music video for Please Please Please, which depicts the story of a woman deciding to ignore warnings for a potential romance, but begging her love interest not to embarrass her. However, in August, The Sun on Sunday confirmed Barry had been dumped by Sabrina for the first time after she grew tired of his party lifestyle. A source said at the time: 'Barry acts like an idiot when he is drunk and Sabrina was getting increasingly frustrated. 'He has always been a party animal and Sabrina was fed up with his antics. She is soaring in the charts and is putting herself first as she gears up for her tour next month.' Romantic dinners, racy shoutouts and sexy video cameos - a timeline of Sabrina Carpenter & Barry Keoghan's relationship While they later reconnected, they officially ended for good in December. It was believed that a combined pressure of her skyrocketing fame and tour schedule, plus his workload and party lifestyle, ultimately made the relationship unviable. A source told People: "They are both young and career-focused, so they've decided to take a break." 6 Sabrina has become known for her playful and raunchy lyrics Credit: Rex 6 The couple split reportedly over Barry's party lifestyle Credit: Social Media Collect
