'Relebohile Mofokeng has outgrown Orlando Pirates'
Match-winning displays in big games and staggering consistency in the marathon environment of the league make Orlando Pirates star Relebohile Mofokeng the best in the country.
20-year-old Mofokeng is already an integral member of the Pirates and Bafana Bafana squads.
It's expected that the wide attacker will move to Europe sooner rather than later.
RUMOURS: Mama Joy in the news
Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana wide forward Relebohile Mofokeng seems destined for a big-money move away from South Africa. He racked up a staggering 49 appearances in the 2024-2025 season across all competitions. Arguably the club's most important operator, that sample of matches included 12 goals and 15 assists. It's a stellar output for any player, let alone one who only exited his teens in October 2024.
Why is nobody talking about Monnapule Saleng?
Taking hold of big matches and deciding massive occasions so regularly at this age proves that Mofokeng is a special talent. Some readers in our comments sections believe the player will stagnate if he stays in South Africa for too long.

The real reason why Rulani Mokwena did not get the Pirates job
Rulani Mokwena was the hot favourite for the Orlando Pirates job; however, the Buccaneers announced Moroccan coach Abdeslam Ouaddou. Ouaddou takes over the reins ahead of the new season, replacing Jose Riveiro at the helm following his decision to step down to join Al Ahly, after a successful three-year tenure. Recently, Mokwena has been linked to teams like Pyramids FC, Yanga SC, and Zamalek, although he ruled himself out of contention for the latter Egyptian team. According Soccer Laduma , Pirates were keen to give Rulani a chance. 'There was interest in coach Mokwena from other clubs and it's believed that Pirates wanted to give him that chance and they were looking at other coaches as well who could suit their criteria and they found one,' a source told the publication. 'You know what was happening was a tricky situation. You recall I told you that only the hierarchy of the club was talking to Rulani? Then it came to light that they won't go for him. They had their own reasons why they had to look at other coaches. Yes, it's believed that the club hierarchy was talking to him but at the end of the day they(Pirates) made their decision and Rulani was not the one,' the second source added. Schoolboy rugby: The unofficial 'official' Top 20 rankings
Any attempt at ranking South Africa's First XV rugby schools is guaranteed to upset as many readers as it will please. The simple fact of the matter is that there is NO possible way of accurately determining a definitive list. Many lists are to be found floating around the internet – none of which are in fact 'official'. While it's true that thanks to an increase in the number of schoolboy rugby festivals around the country more schools are playing schools they previously wouldn't have faced, no school plays every other school both home and away during the season. Hence, every list should be taken with a pinch of salt and is subjective at best. Having said that, with the second term now finished and with provinces preparing for the upcoming U18 Craven Week, here is the unofficial 'official' First XV Top 20 rankings list. NOTE: This year's U18 Craven Week will take place from 7 to 12 July at Middelburg Hoërskool in Mpumalanga. Ranking School Province 1 Paarl Gimnasium * Western Cape 2 Paarl Boys' High * Western Cape 3 Grey College Free State 4 Affies Gauteng 5 Paul Roos Western Cape 6 Oakdale Western Cape 7 Garsfontein Gauteng 8 Westville KwaZulu-Natal 9 DHS KwaZulu-Natal 10 Wynberg Western Cape 11 Rondebosch Western Cape 12 Helpmekaar Gauteng 13 Northwood KwaZulu-Natal 14 Noordheuwel Gauteng 15 Outeniqua Western Cape 16 Hilton College KwaZulu-Natal 17 Grey High School Eastern Cape 18 Jeppe Gauteng 19 Stellenberg Western Cape 20 KES Gauteng *It's a pointless exercise debating whether Paarl Gimnasium should be No 1 or whether in fact Paarl Boys' High boast a stronger case for top spot. Both sides have had stellar first-halves to the season, they haven't played the same opponents, and, most crucial of all, they haven't faced one another. So, instead of wasting time debating the merits of who may be better, get out your calendar and circle Saturday, 2 August in your diary. Because that's when the two sides will come face-to-face to determine South Africa's No 1-ranked First XV school. And that's official … Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1 Subscribe to The South African website's newsletters and follow us on WhatsApp, Facebook, X and Bluesky for the latest news.
