The real reason why Rulani Mokwena did not get the Pirates job

Rulani Mokwena was the hot favourite for the Orlando Pirates job; however, the Buccaneers announced Moroccan coach Abdeslam Ouaddou.
Ouaddou takes over the reins ahead of the new season, replacing Jose Riveiro at the helm following his decision to step down to join Al Ahly, after a successful three-year tenure.
Recently, Mokwena has been linked to teams like Pyramids FC, Yanga SC, and Zamalek, although he ruled himself out of contention for the latter Egyptian team.
According Soccer Laduma , Pirates were keen to give Rulani a chance.
'There was interest in coach Mokwena from other clubs and it's believed that Pirates wanted to give him that chance and they were looking at other coaches as well who could suit their criteria and they found one,' a source told the publication.
'You know what was happening was a tricky situation. You recall I told you that only the hierarchy of the club was talking to Rulani? Then it came to light that they won't go for him. They had their own reasons why they had to look at other coaches. Yes, it's believed that the club hierarchy was talking to him but at the end of the day they(Pirates) made their decision and Rulani was not the one,' the second source added.

Orlando Pirates news: Monnapule Saleng and Tshepang Moremi

Orlando Pirates have not yet addressed the future of their winger Monnapule Saleng. The talented 27-year-old has not played for the club in six months despite being fit. His last appearance was in December during the CAF Champions League group stage against Al Ahly. Sources indicate that Saleng's absence is due to a dispute regarding his salary. He is reportedly seeking a pay increase and an improved contract. Earlier this year, Saleng's parents told Sunday World that he is unhappy with his current earnings, which are estimated to be around R70,000 per month. The Bafana Bafana star feels that his salary does not reflect his contributions to the team. Although Saleng has been training with the club in recent months, his future at Orlando Pirates remains uncertain. The club has released several players but has yet to announce any new signings. However, there are rumours that Tshepang Moremi, who recently left AmaZulu, has signed with the Soweto giants and is expected to be announced as a new recruit during the pre-season. Regarding Pirates star Monnapule Saleng, he has been linked to a possible move to rivals Kaizer Chiefs. The Glamour Boys have also been rumoured to have signed two former Bucs players earlier this month.
