Dave Portnoy gives brutal verdict on one of the top picks of the NFL Draft
The Titans were thrilled to select quarterback Cam Ward No. 1 overall in Thursday's NFL Draft, but Dave Portnoy was no fan of the move.
After the former University of Miami passer was announced as Tennessee 's selection, the Barstool boss took to X to offer a bold prediction regarding Ward's career.
'Cam Ward - Bust. (Mark it down),' he wrote.
Ward was widely graded as the top quarterback in the Draft and one of the top overall prospects.
Of course, his play in college will have to translate to the pros, but the NFL track records of quarterbacks who have gone No. 1 overall is strong.
Since 2015, eight quarterbacks (not including Ward) have gone No. 1 overall. Six have made a Pro Bowl, and two who have not, Bryce Young and Caleb Williams only started their careers in 2023 and 2024 respectively.
While he was skeptical that Ward would become an NFL star, Portnoy gushed about the latest addition of his beloved New England Patriots.
'I can't believe Will Campbell slipped to 4! What a steal!,' he wrote on X.
After New England selected LSU offensive tackle Campbell at No. 4, the player further endeared himself to Portnoy when he delivered an emotional interview and got choked up onstage.
'My guy!!! Heart on his sleeve,' Portnoy wrote, while re-posting the video.
Campbell later told reporters: 'I'm gonna fight and die to protect them with everything I've got.'
'I love this f***ing guy,' Portnoy responded to that.
Campbell's green pinstriped suit on the night included a touching tribute to his late LSU teammate Kyren Lacy, who died by suicide earlier this month.
Lacy had been facing criminal charges stemming from a fatal car accident in Louisiana last December, which saw him charged with negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run and reckless operation.
He ultimately died following a police chase (stemming from a separate incident) this month.
On Thursday, Campbell honored Lacy by wearing a No. 2 pin (his jersey number) on his suit.
The Patriots are set to add three more players to their roster on Friday, as they own the No. 38, 69 and 77 overall picks.

When asked specifically what happened, the 21-year-old continued: 'Yeah, it was a lot of media, it was a lot of locker room stuff. You know what I'm saying? Stuff that go on behind the scenes. 'But it happens. It happens… Sometimes stuff happens. You wish it don't happen, but it do.' Back in 2023, Reese's mother, Angel Webb Reese, and Johnson's mother, Kia Brooks, seemed to feud on social media after the former was briefly removed from LSU's lineup. Webb first posted on Instagram: 'Folks pls do not send me long text msgs with a bunch of grammatical errors it gives me a headache, how do I know you said what you said if I can't understand what you're saying?' Brooks seemed to take that message as a shot at her, before going on the offensive against Webb and her daughter. 'You definitely know about grammar errors when your daughter got a 2.0 or less GPA, and in fact when writing your smart message you didn't capitalize nor did you use any periods,' she said. 'Stop being petty, fake and hateful. And take responsibility for you and your daughters actions. Your just as responsible you raised her that way. Nobody give a damn who you think you are since you came up off another's brand. Just like God gave it to you he will take right away. Always stay humble and never forget who made you and where you came from!!' Reese then continued to stoke the fire after graduating from LSU the following year. Disgraced NFL star Greg Hardy slams 'rumors' after shocking arrest for allegedly assaulting family member
Disgraced former NFL star and UFC fighter Greg Hardy is calling for privacy after his latest domestic violence arrest in Texas. On Tuesday, the 36-year-old posted video of himself at a trampoline park with a woman and two young children, presumed to be Hardy's partner, son and daughter. Hardy is seen kissing the woman in the video while the smiling children are playing on the trampoline. 'Please stop spreading what these chaos machines post, they don't know any facts then fuel the fire that effects (sic) my kids and my wife,' he wrote. 'Things get emotional but has never and will never be what you clowns are trying to spread. I ask with all my heart please, My family and I are all perfectly fine.' Hardy ended the post: 'Please stop spreading lies and rumors and give our family the time and space to work through it all in private.' Although he refers to her as his 'wife,' it's unclear if Hardy and the woman are actually married. Daily Mail has reached out to the Richardson (Texas) Police Department for further information and an incident report. Last week, the department reported Hardy allegedly put his hands on his partner after she accused him of infidelity. The one-time Dallas Cowboys defensive end is accused of pushing the woman and putting his hands around her neck. Police also reported scratches and redness on her body they believed to be 'consistent with a physical altercation,' according to police documents obtained by TMZ.
