Since then there has been a swell of support for the youngster, who has a skin condition. Football heroes such as Jamie Carragher, John Hartson and Ally McCoist posted messages on social media wishing her good luck in what is her first season in senior football. Former Scottish First Minister Humza Yousaf also commented, saying: "Skye Stout has just signed for Kilmarnock, at 16 she has already achieved more than her trolls ever will. "Imagine being a grown man abusing a 16-year-old? What a sad, pathetic, unhappy life these trolls have. "Well done Skye, many more good people are rooting for your success!" Now she has silenced the trolls in the best way possible by letting her football do the talking. During Kilmarnock Women's Scottish Women's Premier League 2 game today against St Johnstone, the midfielder stepped up and scored a stunning free-kick to make it 4-0 to her team in the first half. The team posted on X (Twitter): "37' | SKYE STOUT!! "Skye fires in a free-kick on the edge of the box! Earlier on, she played the key pass to set up her team mate Cara Gray for the goal that made it 3-0. The match at Winton Park in Ardrossan finished 6-2 to Kilmarnock, with Skye playing the first 62 minutes before being substituted. Hundreds of fans filled the comments section with words of encouragement for the player, who may well have attracted a few new fans to the club and perhaps to Scottish women's football. One wrote: "You said you would let the football do the talking! You show them! awesome!" Another said: "Fantastic!! Go Skye, mon the Killie!!" A third said: "Ya beauty! Well done, Skye. Well done team." And a fourth replied: "This will be the best received goal of the weekend. Skye Stout scores from a free kick on her league debut (I'm sure she's got too much class to put two fingers up to the haters)." As a rival fan joked: "The only goal from Killie I'll ever cheer for." And another said: "Putting aside the fact that I'm a Saints fan and celebrating that this girl is clearly hugely talented and showing the haters what she's made of." The Chelsea Women's Supporters Group also commented: "Things you to love to to see." And former Kilmarnock captain Craig Bryson said: "Well done superb." After she was subbed off, the positive comments continued. This fan said: "Well done Skye! And indeed her team mates too." Another replied: "Well done girls and great debut Skye." Even before the game had kicked off, people on Twitter were hoping Skye would score. When Kilmarnock announced she had gone straight into the starting XI, this fan said: "Hope Stout scores a hat-trick." Another said: "It's great to see Skye Stout to be named in the squad to play her first game of the season. I wish her all best of luck. She is going to be a superstar no matter the outcome of the game and she will be a future champion in my eyes and I really mean that from the heart." And a third said: "Good luck Stout. You will smash it. I think that you will score today." The vile trolling was first brought to light by Twitter account Team Grassroots, who highlighted that the posts had been deleted by Kilmarnock just a few hours after they had gone up. They said: "Please send your love and support to 16 year old Skye Stout from Scotland. "And don't let the ignorant bullies win. Yesterday, the official page of the Scottish club Kilmarnock women's team announced that the club had signed a contract with 16-year-old midfielder Skye Stout. "A grassroots player signing her first pro contract, should have been a moment to cherish for her, however Skye was forced to endure ridicule from ignorant and disrespectful fans who began to humiliate her over her facial acne. "Things escalated to the point where the club decided to delete all posts mentioning Skye Stout in an effort to stop the bullying from haters." Their post garnered responses from Carragher, Hartson and McCoist as well as England cricket hero Kevin Pietersen, TikToker Joey Swoll and even Australian TV channel ABC Sport. Several women's football teams also sent messages of support including Newcastle United, West Ham and Exeter City.
