The supernatural drama series, an adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's best-selling young adult novels, follows the against-all-odds romance of high schoolers Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson).
Unlike most teen love affairs, the couple's relationship is complicated by the reality that Edward is secretly a centenarian vampire with a thirst for blood. 5. 'Breaking Dawn – Part 2' (2012)
How do you say goodbye to a group of vampires who live forever?
The conclusion of The Twilight Saga makes a mighty attempt, focusing on Bella's long-awaited transformation into a vampire and the raising of Bella and Edward's half-human, half-vampire daughter Renesmee (Mackenzie Foy). Despite the cuteness of it all, that CGI face of newborn Nessie was ... a choice.
The thrill of Bella exploring her vampiric powers is truly a treat; the lamb becomes the lioness thanks to her own super-speed, inexhaustible strength and nifty force field-generation. On the parenting front, Bella and Edward are thrust into a race against time, albeit a sluggishly paced one, as they gather family witnesses to prove to the Volturi that Renesmee is not a threat to vampirekind.
4. 'Twilight' (2008)
Arizona transplant Bella attempts to acclimate to life in Forks, Washington, after moving in with her divorced father (Billy Burke), only to become captivated by aloof classmate Edward and his equally enigmatic group of siblings.
Bella and Edward's meet-cute is fraught with painfully awkward conversations, sullen stares and a near-death by runaway van. The exposition required by their oil-and-water dynamic means the film isn't as action-heavy as its sequels (with the exception of a rogue trio of murderous vampires, of course).
But the suspenseful mystery packed into Bella's pursuit of Edward's true identity, enhanced by cinematographer Elliot Davis' eerie visuals, makes for a riveting introduction to the franchise. And with an immaculate soundtrack boasting moody alternative-rock, "Twilight" is a haunting you won't want to exorcise.
3. 'Breaking Dawn – Part 1' (2011)
For a paranormal love story, "Breaking Dawn − Part 1" is probably as close as Twihards will ever get to a feel-good flick. The film kicks off in a haze of marital bliss as Bella and Edward prepare for their wedding, after Edward proposes marriage as a condition for turning Bella into a vampire (leave it to an undead bloodsucker to keep tradition alive.)
Unfortunately, the couple's newlywed fun is cut short when Bella unexpectedly finds herself pregnant on their honeymoon. Shockingly, Bella successfully gives birth in a body-horror extravaganza that is both gut-wrenching and mesmerizing. And if your heart wasn't pounding already, Edward saves Bella from a post-delivery death in a nail-biting finale.
2. 'New Moon' (2009)
Bella hits rock bottom in this somber yet action-packed follow-up to "Twilight." After Edward abruptly breaks up with her − in a cloaked effort to shield her from the dangers of the vampire world − grief-stricken Bella copes with a rebellious adrenaline junkie phase and her deepening friendship with Jacob.
Jacob, who has secrets of his own as he comes to terms with his werewolf power, is a shaft of earthy sunshine compared to Edward's often icy veneer. Don't get me wrong: The intense smolder of a bloodthirsty vampire would make my heart flutter, too. But Jake is cut from a softer cloth, and his warmth is an emotional salve for our distraught heroine Bella.
Bella's brewing situationship with Jacob is thwarted by a whirlwind reunion with Edward in Italy. The happy ending is undoubtedly a win for the hopeless romantics (and not to mention Team Edward stans), but the pragmatist in me can't help but root for the underwolf and his grounded charm.
1. 'Eclipse' (2010)
It's not just the anniversary talking, folks. "Eclipse" is the soapy, hormonally charged climax of the franchise that solidifies the trifecta of Bella's intense bonds with Edward and Jacob.
Bella's reconciliation with Edward reaffirms her desire to become a vampire, while Jacob, futilely, maintains his dogged pursuit of her affections. The push and pull lends itself to some juicy dramatic tension, with Jacob even taking a punch to the face after a spur-of-the-moment kiss goes awry.
The impending invasion of Victoria (Bryce Dallas Howard) and her army of newborn vampires inspires an unlikely alliance between the Cullen coven and Jacob's Quileute pack, setting the stage for some kickass action sequences. In the afterglow of their victory, Bella tells a battle-injured Jacob that she's chosen Edward as her partner in a finale that's as heartbreaking as it is infuriating.

Rosie O'Donnell is never one to hold back. In an Aug. 19 Instagram post, she called out fellow TV icon Jay Leno for a mean-spirited 2009 segment from "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," which was revisited in the new Netflix docuseries "Fit for TV: The Reality of the Biggest Loser." In the caption of the post, which featured photos of "The Biggest Loser's" Tracey Yukich in the three-episode series, O'Donnell, 63, wrote that Leno was "mean." The "Fit for TV" scene she referenced was one in which Yukich, a Season 8 contestant, tearfully recounted Leno reading her death threats submitted by "Biggest Loser" viewers. The "Tonight Show" encounter originally aired Nov. 3, 2009. USA TODAY has reached out to a representative for Leno for comment. Though many lost weight throughout the series, the tactics at times posed a risk to participants and their esteem; Yukich suffered a near-death experience early in her season, which aired in 2009. A mom of four, she'd started Season 8 weighing 250 pounds. On the first day of filming "Loser," Yukich and her fellow contestants had to run a mile on a beach. With so much on the line, Yukich darted for the finish line, but her body began shutting down. She went from running to crawling to being pulled to the end by her competitors, and then she collapsed. Yukich had developed rhabdomyolysis, described by the Cleveland Clinic as a condition that causes muscles to disintegrate. "When this happens, toxic components of your muscle fibers enter your circulation system and kidneys." Yukich told USA TODAY that she spent more than three weeks in the hospital before resuming the competition, and ultimately shed 118 pounds. "I'm thankful that I was a part of (the show) because it did change my life," she said. "I really meant what I said at the end (when I) said that I was the one that changed my life. I was the one that did the work." "Taste tickets" are out, and earlier adult beverage availability times are in as the Bank of America, Fall for Greenville, presented by Pepsi, is nearly underway in downtown Greenville, happening Oct. 10-12. The 44th annual fall festival is set to take place on Main Street in the coming weeks, offering a weekend filled with 80 acts of free live music, over 40 food and beverage vendors, and a range of family-friendly activities for visitors to enjoy. In 2024, Fall for Greenville hosted nearly 200,000 guests from across 30 states during the three-day festival, as the success of the event was recognized by USA TODAY's 10Best and voted as the No. 5 Best Fall Festival to attend in the country. "This year, we're not just celebrating the best of local food and music; we're dedicating ourselves to making the festival experience better than ever," said Kevin Holliday, board chair at Fall for Greenville. Amanda Knox, Monica Lewinsky reclaim the red carpet together
Amanda Knox and Monica Lewinsky are reclaiming their stories on the red carpet. The "Waiting to Be Heard" author and the anti-bullying activist posed together on the red carpet Aug. 19 while promoting their new eight-part Hulu series "The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox" (now streaming). For the show's New York City premiere, Knox wore a long, lacy Giambattista Valli Paris dress paired with pink Aquazzura heels, while Lewinsky stunned in a gold dress and pumps. It's been nearly two decades since Knox, then a 20-year-old student at the University of Washington, traveled 5,600 miles to study abroad in Perugia, Italy, about two hours north of Rome. Knox moved into an apartment, which she'd share with Meredith Kercher, a 21-year-old British student. The two had become friends, but police arrested Knox and charged her with murdering Kercher. The new Hulu show follows Knox's nightmare journey, spending nearly four years in an Italian prison before being acquitted in 2011. She'd be found guilty (again) in 2014 and finally exonerated in 2015. Lewinsky, too, has faced the scrutiny of mainstream media's sometimes harsh light. The media painted the former White House intern, who had an affair with President Bill Clinton in the 1990s while he was in office, as a "little tart" (The Wall Street Journal) and "a ditsy, predatory White House intern" (The New York Times). Amanda Knox: 'Twisted Tale' asks, 'in the wake of trauma, how do you rebuild your life?' Monica Lewinsky produced 'Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox' on Hulu Over the past decade, though, Lewinsky reclaimed the affair's public fallout as a contributing writer to Vanity Fair with a viral 2015 TED talk about public shaming. In more recent years, Lewinsky – who is credited as an executive producer on "Twisted Tale" – has rebounded as a rising producer in Hollywood. Knox said that Lewinsky "held my hand through this experience because she's been a trailblazer in this regard of a woman who had her worst experience used to bury her and turn her into a punchline," adding that she came "back and reclaimed her sense of self and her purpose in life and didn't allow all of these external forces to diminish her." She first stepped into the industry in September 2021 as a producer on Ryan Murphy's "Impeachment: American Crime Story," partly inspired by events in her own life. That fall, she executive-produced the HBO documentary "15 Minutes of Shame." "From my own experience, the first step was surviving," Lewinsky told USA TODAY. "Holding on to the hope that things can change. It won't be as bad as it is in the eye of the storm forever." Knox told USA TODAY that Lewinsky's reclamation made her believe that "there was perhaps a path forward for me in this world." So Knox asked to meet, and the pair later became friends. When Lewinsky learned four years later that Knox wanted to adapt her 2013 memoir, she reached out. The rest is history (or a Hulu series out now).
