Gregg Wallace's ‘MasterChef' Co-Host John Torode Reveals Himself To Be Person Accused Of Using Racist Language

John Torode, Gregg Wallace's MasterChef co-presenter, has revealed himself to be the person accused of using racist language in the report published today into Wallace's behavior. Taking to Instagram, Torode said 'for the sake of transparency I can confirm that I am the individual who is alleged to have used racial language on one occasion.' More from Deadline BBC Shelves L.A. 'However I want to be clear that I've always had the view that any racial language is wholly unacceptable in any environment,' he added. 'I'm shocked and saddened by the allegations as I would never wish to cause anyone offence.' Torode came forward around 12 hours after the independent report published into Wallace's behavior, which substantiated 45 of the 83 allegations made against Wallace, whose position hosting MasterChef was described as 'untenable' by the boss of MasterChef production company Banijay UK. Wallace has apologized but reiterated his view that 'none of the serious allegations against me were upheld.' Aside from Wallace, the report said 10 standalone allegations were made against other people over the period 2012 to 2019, with two of these having been substantiated, one of whom Torode is now revealing to be himself. The other was over a complaint of 'swearing' and Banijay has said it is dealing with both. In its own statement, the BBC said it 'takes these findings very seriously and we have asked Banijay UK to take action to address these issues, which is underway. This will be completed as a priority.' Torode struck up a close relationship with Wallace over their two decades presenting MasterChef. When allegations against Wallace first emerged late last year, Torode said he found them 'truly upsetting.' MasterChef presenter John Torode says allegation he used racist language upheld in report

MasterChef presenter John Torode says an allegation he used "racial language" was upheld in a report as part of a review into the behaviour of his former co-presenter Gregg Wallace. The report, led by law firm Lewis Silkin, found . There were also two standalone allegations made against other people. In a statement posted on his Instagram page, Torode said he was one of those people, but added that he had "no recollection of the incident" and said he "did not believe that it happened". He commented: "Following publication of the executive summary of the investigation into Gregg Wallace while working on MasterChef, I am aware of speculation that I am one of the two other individuals against whom an allegation has been upheld. "For the sake of transparency, I confirm that I am the individual who is alleged to have used racial language on one occasion. "The allegation is that I did so sometime in 2018 or 2019, in a social situation, and that the person I was speaking with did not believe that it was intended in a malicious way and that I apologised immediately afterwards. "I have absolutely no recollection of any of this, and I do not believe that it happened. "However, I want to be clear that I've always had the view that any racial language is wholly unacceptable in any environment. I'm shocked and saddened by the allegation as I would never wish to cause anyone any offence." Wallace, 60, said he was "deeply sorry" for causing any distress, and never set out to "harm or humiliate". While the majority of the substantiated claims related to inappropriate sexual language and humour, one related to "unwanted physical contact", and three were about being "in a state of undress". The report said the number of sustained allegations made Wallace's return to MasterChef "untenable". In a statement on Monday, Wallace said "some of (his) humour and language missed the mark", but he said, after nearly 20 years on MasterChef, "I now see that certain patterns, shaped by traits I've only recently begun to understand, may have been misread". Wallace, who said a "late autism diagnosis" had helped him understand how he is "perceived", criticised the BBC, saying the corporation had left him "exposed to trial by media". "This has been brutal," he said.

OMAYO Brings Fuze House Workouts And Cold Plunges To Montauk

OMAYO Studios OMAYO Studios OMAYO Studios is a new fitness, fashion and beauty haven in Montauk you won't want to miss this summer. Spanning 3,000 square feet just steps from the Jitney stop, this three-story spot is all about feeling and looking good. Start your day with a sweat-drenched Fuze House workout downstairs, cool off in one of their cold plunges, enjoy their curated retail store or book a blowout or makeup appointment for your evening ahead. You can spend a few hours here or just pop in for a few minutes to browse the shop, but there's something for everyone to enjoy here. Molly Eldred and Amanda Usher OMAYO Studios With backgrounds in events and the arts, founders Molly Eldred and Amanda Usher came together to create a beautiful, feel-good spot for locals and out of towners visiting Montauk. 'The idea is that it's a one-stop shop — you can get your butt kicked in a workout class or come here to get pampered,' says Eldred. From the outside, OMAYO is a cute Hamptons cottage, but from the inside, it's a fashion-forward, thoughtfully designed space brimming with textures and colors. Nibble on Kaleidoscope protein cookies or get your caffeine fix with a Gorgie while you browse the space's clothing racks and jewelry. OMAYO is a great place to discover under-the-radar, mostly female-founded brands, as well as household names. Take, for example, Soiree Miami Beach, a luxurious swimwear brand made with sparkly materials that don't scratch, or Wanahat, a stylish hat brand founded by three Ecuadorian childhood friends. OMAYO takes the stress out of packing for a Montauk weekend because if you happen to forget a vacation essential like a cover up or hat, you can easily stock up here. For beauty enthusiasts, there's Augustinus Bader, Sarai Cosmetics and Dossier to cover any skincare, makeup or perfume needs. Dive into an olfactory paradise when you sample Dossier's perfume wall featuring florals, gourmands and everything in between. OMAYO is notably the first retail destination for the brand before the launch of a brick-and-mortar store later this year. 'We've curated brands out of cities like New York and Miami, and put them in a new destination which gets people really excited,' says Usher. 'People's faces light up when they see the brands we carry here.' OMAYO Studios OMAYO Studios In the past services like an infrared sauna session, a blowout, or makeup application were things you would do upon your return to the city after spending a weekend in Montauk but now you can enjoy those services right at OMAYO. There are two HigherDose infrared saunas to get your sweat on and upstairs there's a beauty salon where you can get your hair and makeup done. Since Montauk is the setting for many girls' trips and events, OMAYO is the perfect place to prep for a special evening or function. Speaking of events, OMAYO will have a calendar of pop-ups, activations, and events throughout the summer. FUZE House at OMAYO Studios OMAYO Studios Set underneath one beachy roof, OMAYO offers a place to move your body, to pamper yourself and to discover your new favorite indie brand. Head there this summer for a post-beach refresh or discover your new favorite workout spot this summer — OMAYO makes it easy to soak up the magic of Montauk while looking and feeling your best.
