Police nab JJMP rebel with arms and ammunition in Gumla
Gumla: A Jharkhand Jan Multi Parishad (JJMP) rebel, carrying Rs 5 lakh reward, was nabbed by joint forces of district police and Jharkhand Jaguar from a forest near Ghaghra village within the limits of Bishunpur police station in Gumla on Tuesday.

The forces seized a 303 rifle, 200 rounds of bullets, 150 live cartridges of 7.62 mm, and other articles, including three mobile phones and a rucksack, from his possession.
Gumla SP Haris Bin Zaman said, "Following a specific input about the movement of JJMP extremists led by its chief, Ravidra Yadav, a joint team of the district police and Jaguar Assault Group (AG) 39, led by Gumla SDPO Suresh Prasad, was formed to conduct a raid in the area.
Forces saw some armed men sitting in a nearby forest. Seeing the forces zeroing in, they started fleeing, but one of them was caught."
The nabbed ultra was identified as Firoj Ansari (35), a resident of Rubed village in Jobang police station of Lohardaga district. He carried reward of Rs 5 lakh over his head. The joint team seized a 303 rifle and its 200 bullets, along with bullets of a different bore, from him.
The SP said, "Ansari has 11 criminal cases against him with Jobang and Senha police stations in Lohardaga, Latehar police station, and Kurumgarh and Chainpur police stations of Gumla district."

Two shot at in Hazaribagh days after Rs 5 lakh extortion demand
Hazaribagh: In a chilling incident in Jharkhand's Hazaribagh district, two youths were shot at in broad daylight on Wednesday in the Keredari police station area, police officials said. The attack occurred barely a week after they were allegedly threatened with an extortion demand of Rs 5 lakh. The victims, identified as Phooleshwar Bedia and Baiju Bedia, both residents of Lurunga village in Barkagaon block, have been admitted to Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College Hospital in Hazaribagh. Phooleshwar, who sustained a bullet injury in the chest, is reported to be in critical condition. According to police, the two run a pig farm in their village and were returning by auto after collecting leftover food from the mess of the BGR Mining Company in Barkagaon. Around 10 a.m. on Wednesday, six armed assailants on three motorcycles intercepted their vehicle and opened fire on them. Baiju, who survived the attack, told police that about a week ago, a group of youths had demanded Rs 5 lakh as extortion. Since both victims are involved in small-scale farming, they had dismissed it as a prank. However, Wednesday's attack confirmed their worst fears. After the shooting, local residents rushed the injured to the Community Health Centre in Keredari, from where they were referred to the Medical College Hospital for further treatment. Police from the Keredari station reached the spot soon after the incident and launched an investigation. No arrests have been made so far. Earlier on Sunday, criminals opened fire -- reportedly 6 to 7 rounds -- at a jewellery shop in Hazaribagh city. A day later, in Jorakat village of Barkagaon block, miscreants torched seven vehicles, including a JCB and a truck engaged in road construction work. Labourers at the site were also assaulted. Interestingly, the shooting took place on a day when traders in Hazaribagh had shut down their businesses to protest the rising crime in the district.

Burglars Steal Gold and Cash Worth Rs 60 Lakh from Retired Officer's Home
Burglars broke into the home of a retired GST officer, Akula Hari Rao, in Madhuranagar Colony. They stole gold, diamond jewelry, and cash worth Rs 60 lakh. The burglars used fake keys to enter the house. They broke open the lockers and took the valuables inside. Hari Rao and his family had gone to their native place in Andhra Pradesh on June 21. When they came back on June 24, they saw the main door was open and things were scattered inside. They found the bedroom locker had been forced open and valuables were missing. Hari Rao gave a complaint to the police. The Madhuranagar police have started an investigation.

WFH scam: Woman loses Rs 27 lakh; 2 others duped in similar frauds

In a complaint, she said that on June 11, while she was watching Instagram reels, an advertisement claiming "Work From Home" appeared through a link. Interested, she clicked on the link, which opened a WhatsApp chat. A message was received stating "Global Part Time Job," offering Rs 120 per task for liking content on ShareChat, with a potential earning of Rs 5,000 per day for completing 20 tasks. Following this, she completed 20 tasks on the first day and received Rs 320 credited to her bank account. However, when she failed to withdraw the invested amount, and failed to get any clarification, she approached the police. A case was registered at CEN Crime Police Station. In a similar scam, another victim reportedly lost Rs 9.88 lakh. Later, Naveen Aurora, who introduced himself as data tutor, contacted the complainant on Telegram. He said that by paying a task fee of Rs 5,000, the complainant would be added to a Telegram group and sent a link. Using that link, on May 22, the complainant transferred Rs 5,000. In this group, the complainant was persuaded to invest Rs 53,000 in US Copper, a foreign share market, with promises of high returns. Believing this, the complainant went on investing. When the complainant inquired about the profits from Aurora on the group, he responded saying that the complainant mistakenly clicked on "UK Copper" instead of "US Copper." He instructed the complainant to complete a "repair task" to recover the amount. As part of this, Rs 8 lakh was transferred. Further, Aurora stated that only after depositing an additional Rs 8.50 lakh to complete "Level 2" would the full amount be refunded.
