If the curated playlist on your phone has become a tad predictable, make a beeline for Chowdiah Memorial Hall for something live and do not be surprised if your feet begin tapping a tattoo. The Kiara Academy of Performing Arts will be celebrating their 20th anniversary with a musical showcase over there this weekend.
Wendy Dickson, director of Kiara, says In the Mood is a series the Academy has been following for the past few years. 'This is our fifth concert and that is why we've called it Take 5. It is a nod to Dave Brubeck's 'Take Five' and we'll be presenting a choral rendition of that jazz composition.'
The Academy kickstarts their 20th year with this concert and will conclude celebrations in 2026, says Wendy, adding, 'As we always do, we will bring different genres of music to the stage. Our solo and group presentations will cover classical music, jazz, classic rock, choral music and much more, which will cater to the musical sensibilities of youngsters as well as seniors.'
She adds that the first half of the show will have melodies from Bobby Darin, Eddie Rabbit, the Creedence Clearwater Revival, 'and a rain medley in keeping with the weather'. This will be followed by Broadway and Disney musicals in the second half, apart from a special presentation that the troupe is keeping tightly under wraps.
As this is a landmark celebration for the Academy, Wendy says they are pulling out all stops. 'Our choreographers Anahieta Mohandesi, 21, and Rachel Ann Franco, 18, who have been with us since junior choir, have come up with amazing routines. With around six concerts under their belt, they have excelled in putting this show together. Similarly, our six-member group of costumers have outdone themselves in their use of colours, fabrics and designs.'
'In the Mood: Take 5 is going to be spectacular display of sound, movement and theatricals, as it is substantial in terms of range and repertoire,' says Wendy.
To celebrate their anniversary, the Academy will be presenting smaller concerts and musical events throughout the year. As always, part of the proceeds from their show will benefit the Bosco Rainbow Home for Girls in Chamrajpet.
In the Mood: Take 5 will be presented at Chowdiah Memorial Hall on August 23 and 24, from 6pm. Tickets starting from ₹350 available on District

Kiara Advani Wants To Name Her Daughter After Priyanka Chopra, Says 'I'll Call Her...'

Kiara Advani said she loved one of Priyanka Chopra's character names and found it beautiful. Bollywood's beloved couple, Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani, are now proud parents to a baby girl. The couple welcomed their daughter on July 15, 2025, at Reliance Hospital in Mumbai. While they have not revealed their daughter's name and face to the public, Kiara once wanted to name her future daughter 'Kiara'. Kiara's real name is Alia Advani, but she changed it to avoid a clash with Alia Bhatt. She heard the name in Priyanka Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor's Anjaana Anjaani and fell in love with it instantly. In a resurfaced Filmfare interview, Kiara said, 'The name, Kiara, was inspired by Priyanka Chopra's movie Anjaana Anjaani, where she introduces herself as, 'Hi, I'm Kiara.' I thought, 'What a beautiful name. If I have a daughter, I'll call her Kiara.' But before that, I needed a name for myself. So, I took it on." View this post on Instagram A post shared by S.🦋 (@kiara_worlddd34) When asked why she wanted to change her name in the first place, she said, 'My name has been Kiara since my debut in 2014. I didn't want to confuse the audience with Alia Bhatt, an established superstar. It just felt like the right thing to do—to have your own identity. Why have two Alias?" Alia Bhatt was already an established actor when Kiara made her debut in 2014. Kiara has often spoken about her child, long before she became a mother. During the promotions of their 2019 film, Good Newwz, Kiara Advani was asked which of Kareena Kapoor's qualities she would like her future daughter to have. 'Her confidence, her expressions, her aura. All her qualities. She's a 10 on 10." Akshay Kumar added, 'Her radiant face." Meanwhile, Sidharth and Kiara are yet to reveal their baby girl's name and personality traits. Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani's love story started off quietly. They first met in 2018 at a film party, but it was during the shooting of Shershaah in 2021 that they grew close. Their on-screen chemistry led to rumours, but the two kept things private for a long time. Over the years, fans picked up on subtle hints, like their New Year vacation in South Africa and sweet birthday posts on Instagram. In early 2023, Kiara finally confirmed the relationship with a playful birthday post for Sidharth. A few weeks later, on February 7, 2023, they got married in a beautiful, intimate ceremony at Suryagarh Palace in Jaisalmer. Alien: Earth episode 3 sets stage for bigger battles, check precap, and upcoming release schedule here

Alien: Earth episode 3 Metamorphosis recap: Alien: Earth is becoming the most-talked-about sci-fi series of the year. The FX show has released its third episode, leaving fans buzzing with questions about Wendy, Joe, the xenomorphs and what comes next. If you are wondering what happened in the latest episode and when you can catch episode 4, here's a full recap and the release schedule. Alien: Earth overview The series is a prequel to Ridley Scott's iconic 1979 film Alien. Created by FX, the show follows the story of Wendy, played by Sydney Chandler, who is the first hybrid, a humanoid robot carrying human consciousness. The show begins after a mysterious spacecraft crashes on Earth. From there, Wendy joins a group of tactical soldiers who soon discover the planet's deadliest threat. According to the official synopsis, their discovery changes not only their mission but the future of Earth itself. Set in the year 2120, the world is ruled by five powerful corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic and Threshold. In this time, humans live alongside cyborgs; people with artificial and biological parts; and synthetics, who are humanoid robots with AI. Things take a darker turn when hybrids are introduced, creating a new kind of life form that disrupts the balance. Cast of Alien: Earth The show features a strong ensemble cast. Sydney Chandler leads as Wendy, while Timothy Olyphant plays Kirsh. Alex Lawther stars as Hermit, Babou Ceesay as Morrow, and Samuel Blenkin as Boy Kavalier. Together, they play soldiers, scientists, and leaders caught in the middle of a deadly experiment. The first two episodes premiered on August 12 on FX and Hulu, with new episodes rolling out weekly. Alien: Earth episode 3, Metamorphosis's recap Episode 3, titled Metamorphosis, begins with high tension. Wendy rushes to save Joe from a xenomorph while Kirsh and his group try to contain the alien specimens. The soldiers realize the mission is no longer about rescue but containment. Kavalier orders them to collect five species and bring them to the quarantine lab. Joe is found alive but trapped in alien glue. The xenomorph uses this as bait, attacking from above. Wendy fights back with her sword, piercing it but causing its acid blood to burn through the floor. The fight turns brutal as the xenomorph fatally injures Joe. Despite this, Wendy and Joe work together to trap it, with Joe even hotwiring a door to help. In the end, Wendy kills the alien by decapitating it, though both siblings collapse from their injuries. Meanwhile, Morrow finds alien eggs on the ship. Instead of destroying them, he uploads the data into his head and questions what it means to be a machine. When one egg opens, Morrow jumps off the ship rather than being captured. Later, he secretly contacts Yutani and promises to deliver the specimens. Back at Prodigy, Joe and Wendy are taken to Neverland on stretchers. Kavalier sees the capture as a victory and begins preparing for more experiments. Kirsh, however, warns him about the dangers of the alien eggs and facehuggers. In the lab, Kirsh dissects one egg, removing a facehugger, while Wendy suffers painful reactions, hinting at a deeper connection to the creatures. The episode closes with Kirsh placing alien material into a tank with Joe's severed lung, creating a disturbing new experiment. At the same time, Wendy passes out unnoticed, setting the stage for even bigger conflicts ahead. What to expect next The ending of episode 3 leaves several storylines hanging. Morrow is on his own mission, carrying dangerous alien data. Wendy's connection to the xenomorphs appears stronger than before. Kirsh continues dangerous experiments that could lead to disaster, while Kavalier's obsession with choosing his 'favourites' among the hybrids sparks new rivalries. The seeds of betrayal, survival and power are clearly being planted. Episode 4 release time Episode 4 of Alien: Earth, titled Observation, will release on FX on August 26. It will also stream on Hulu and Disney Plus at 5pm PT / 8pm ET. For international viewers, here are the times: 9pm Brazil 1am UK 2am Central European Summer Time 3am Eastern European Summer Time 5:30am India 10am Australia 12pm New Zealand How many episodes are there?
