Meanwhile, a total of 309 roads, including National Highway 305 (NH-305), remain blocked due to landslides and debris flows. The SDMA also confirmed that 236 water supply schemes and 113 power distribution transformers (DTRs) are currently non-functional, significantly affecting public life and essential services.
District-wise data shows that Mandi has emerged as the worst-hit region, reporting 23 rain-related deaths and 14 fatalities in road accidents. The district also leads in terms of infrastructure damage, with 167 roads blocked, and the highest number of disruptions to water supply (74 schemes) and power services (91 transformers). Kangra district follows with 24 weather-related fatalities and six accident deaths, while Kullu reported 10 monsoon-related deaths and eight road fatalities. Chamba and Shimla have also recorded multiple casualties and widespread damage.

Among the worst-hit districts are Mandi, Kullu, and Chamba, which together account for a major share of road blockages and public service breakdowns. National Highway-505 in Lahaul-Spiti also remains closed due to landslides and flash floods, cutting off vital access routes.
The SDMA report noted that the cumulative damage to public property, including roads, power lines, water systems, health infrastructure, and schools, exceeds Rs 1,71,495 lakh, with over 88,800 hectares of crops affected, primarily in agriculture and horticulture.

"One cannot conclusively say it was snout detachment until satellite imagery and ground assessment fully confirm so. Currently, the glacial sites are inaccessible but upwards of Kheer Ganga there are two unnamed glaciers which have seen significant accumulation of debris and old moraine, massing up over the years. There is also a hanging glacier just off the Kheer Ganga nallah that is to be closely watched. The river system itself may also have contributed. Also, even without a glacial snout detachment, very large debris flow may have impacted Dharali as the valley is quite narrow," Dobhal said. He, however, ruled out a Glof event since no such vulnerable lakes had been identified in the areas. Government sources have also ruled out two other factors - cloudburst or even a glacial lake outburst flood (Glof). VMC asked to prepare for mega sanitation drive in flood-hit areas
Varanasi: Uttar Pradesh Urban Development and Energy Minister AK Sharma has directed the Varanasi Municipal Corporation (VMC) to complete all necessary preparations for launching a mega sanitation drive in flood-affected areas, once the water levels of the overflowing Ganga and its tributary Varuna begin to recede. Chairing a review meeting on the civic body's preparedness for post-flood challenges on Tuesday evening, Sharma emphasized the need for immediate action to clean the affected localities and spray insecticides to prevent the outbreak of waterborne diseases. He specifically instructed officials to focus on low-lying areas, where special drainage work and sanitation efforts must be carried out on a priority basis. The minister also addressed the issue of sewer blockage, which typically worsens after floods. He asked the general manager of Jal Kal to prepare a detailed action plan to tackle potential sewer jamming and ensure prompt resolution. During the meeting, the GM raised a demand for two super sucker machines and jetting machines to strengthen the city's post-flood response.
