Farhana Bodi on her Cannes outing! Calls Aishwarya Rai her inspiration
She's no stranger to the flashbulbs of Cannes, and this year,
Farhana Bodi
returns to the 78th Cannes Film Festival with her signature flair. A seasoned presence at the world's most stylish cinematic celebration, Farhana reflects on the experience with palpable emotion, saying, 'It's such a special place for me. It's not just about fashion, it's about celebrating art, creativity, and global culture. Every time I walk that red carpet, it feels surreal. The energy, the people, the atmosphere—it's something I genuinely look forward to every year.'
Known for her head-turning ensembles, Farhana who was seen in Netflix's Dubai Bling is once again ready to make waves on the red carpet. And this year's look promises to be a standout. She says, 'This year's look is very close to my heart. It's elegant but with a strong, modern twist. I wanted something that reflects my personality—feminine, confident, and a little bit bold. We've been working on every detail for weeks, so I can't wait to finally reveal it. I've been loving metallic tones and clean, sculptural lines lately. It feels fresh and empowering. You might just see a hint of that this year, nothing over-the-top, but definitely something that feels modern and strong.'
Curating a couture moment for Cannes is no casual affair. It's a collaborative, detail-oriented process, and Farhana thrives in the creative chaos. 'It's definitely a process! I start with a vision of how I want to feel and look on the red carpet, then work closely with designers whose style matches that vision. There's a lot of back-and-forth, fittings, and fine-tuning. It's a team effort, and I'm grateful to work with people who understand my style and help bring it to life.'

But even amidst the high glamour, Farhana stays grounded in her personal style, gracefully balancing individuality with the expectations of an international stage. 'I always try to stay true to myself, but I also think about the elegance and tradition of Cannes. It's about finding that balance between making a statement and keeping it refined. I want my look to feel authentic but also appropriate for such a prestigious event.'

Naga Vamsi hits back at those trolling him over Jr NTR, Hrithik Roshan's War 2, busts rumours of him leaving films
Producer Naga Vamsi's Sithara Entertainments took over the distribution rights of Ayan Mukerji's Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR-starrer War 2 in Telugu. Given that it was Jr NTR's debut film in Bollywood, the producer hyped up the film before its release, only for it to disappoint fans. On Wednesday, Vamsi hit back at trolls making up theories about his absence on social media. Jr NTR and Hrithik Roshan headline Ayan Mukerji's Hindi film War 2. Naga Vamsi hits back at trolls, busts rumours Ever since War 2 received lukewarm reviews, Vamsi has been trolled on social media for hyping the film before its release. Some people speculated that he would leave the film industry and had switched off his phone, while others predicted that he was feeling down about investing in the film. Hitting out at these trolls, Vamsi wrote on X (formerly Twitter), 'Enti nannu chala miss avthunattu unnaru…Vamsi adi, Vamsi idi ani gripping narratives tho full hadavidi nadustundi…Parledu, X lo manchi writers unnaru. (It looks like everyone is missing me a lot. Not bad, there are some good writers on X creating gripping narratives about me).' He added that it's not time for him to leave the film industry yet, writing, 'Sorry to disappoint you all, but inka aa time raaledu… minimum inko 10-15 years undi (Sorry to disappoint you all, but it's not time yet…there's 10-15 years more left for that). At the cinemas… for the cinema, always! See you all with our next outing #MassJathara, Very Soon!' War 2 and Kingdom Vamsi invested heavily in War 2, hoping the novelty of seeing Hrithik and Jr NTR together would benefit the film. However, in its six-day run, the film made only ₹50.3 crore net in India for its Telugu version, while the Hindi version made ₹141.75 crore, according to Sacnilk. The film has collected ₹193.5 crore net in India and has yet to touch the ₹200 crore mark. This setback with War 2 comes after Gowtam Tinnanuri's Vijay Deverakonda and Satyadev-starrer Kingdom released to a positive response on 31 July but had a dry run at the box office. It collected only ₹82.01 crore worldwide.

Big Cine Expo at Chennai: How theatres can gear up
Less than a month ago, Thalaivan Thalaivi clashed at the Tamil cinema box office with Maareesan. Later this week, the same two films – one featuring Vijay Sethupathi and Nithya Menen, and the other featuring Fahadh Faasil and Vadivelu – are clashing yet again, at the OTT space. The two films are being releasing on Amazon Prime and Netflix respectively. For many, who might have missed these films on the big screen, this is an opportunity to catch up with them. But what does a scenario such as this mean to theatre owners? Or, in simpler words, why watch a film on the big screen when you can watch it at home in a few weeks? This was the hot topic of discussion at Big Cine Expo, held at Chennai Trade Centre on August 19 and 20. 'In 2016, when OTT started off, it was not threatening. But post the pandemic, when films started releasing directly on OTT platforms, this whole window of theatrical-OTT release schedule collapsed. For many people, it became a concern whether a certain film will hit the big screen or not,' said Thomas D'Souza, Senior Vice President (Programming), PVR-INOX. Is the onus on the cinema hall stakeholders or the makers to pull in audiences? It is the latter, felt Rahul Puri of Mukta A2 Cinemas. 'Cinema halls can see footfall only if there's content... content that has intrigue value. A great theatrical trailer, for instance, sucks people in. It's like a build-up to a phone launch,' said Rahul. While the situation in theatres in metropolitan cities might not be rosy, the story is a little different in tier-2 and tier-3 centres. Like in Mysore, for instance, where a nondescript Kannada film sans big names titled Su from So is turning out to be a hit. 'We have had 16 days with packed houses,' said Vaishali Hanumanth of DRC Cinemas, 'People are coming in as early as 7am to watch the film. A lot of people from the new generation are coming in to watch Kannada films as well. It proves that content is king.' Billed as a conglomeration for all stakeholders in the cinema business, Big Cine Expo also showcased stalls that dealt with ticketing, acoustics, interior design, popcorn and other aspects related to theatres.
