Jeremy Clarkson's pub has visitors 'floored' over cost of grub and a pint

Daily Record14-07-2025
A woman has taken to social media to share her experience of dining at Jeremy Clarkson's pub, The Farmer's Dog, and while she gave the food a glowing review, the prices sparked debate.
One visit to Jeremy Clarkson 's pub, The Farmer's Dog, has sparked a flurry of discussion among people over the cost of its menu. Amy Robinson, 20, made the journey to what Clarkson describes as a "proper British" pub.
She also documented her dining experience on TikTok, giving the grub a flawless "10/10" whilst praising its exceptional taste. However the clip, which has racked up more than 50,000 views, also drew attention to the hefty cost of eating at the venue.

The Farmer's Dog, situated in Asthall near Burford in Oxfordshire is a property the former Top Gear host secured for less than £1 million, formerly called The Windmill, as reported by the Mirror.

Amy's review featured the pub's al fresco dining area and the elegantly presented dishes, though viewers were quick to note the pricing as they quizzed her on it.
"Fancy sausage and mash was around the £20.00 mark. Drinks were around £7.00."
However, one person came to the defence, observing: "You must be from Oxfordshire like me. We thought prices were normal, but people who had travelled were having a fit."
Whilst certain customers considered the charges to be what some people would"expect" at a countryside pub, views among many on social media remained split.

One voiced their astonishment, declaring: "The prices are insane." The website indicates that meal prices vary, with a steak pie commanding £24.00 and a gammon steak at £22.00.
Drinkers may find themselves paying around £6.75 for a pint, though this price can fluctuate depending on the drink selected. While some consider the menu prices to be on the higher side, others believe the culinary experience is "worth every penny."

One satisfied diner commented: "Great place, great staff, great atmosphere, great food." A different customer recounted their positive experience, adding "Had a Sunday roast here recently with my family. Food is 100% - all products locally sourced. I will be returning."
Echoing the feedback, someone else added: "It's amazing here. I've been three times now." Jeremy Clarkson, known for his agricultural pursuits in Amazon Prime series Clarkson's Farm, has also taken a foray into the pub business with The Farmer's Dog.
This new venture is featured in Season 4 of his Amazon Prime reality series, where the ex-Top Gear presenter takes on "his most ambitious project yet."
The series offers an inside look at Clarkson's latest challenge as he acquires a pub to realise his Farm to Fork restaurant dream, with the official synopsis stating: "Jeremy is taking on his most ambitious project yet, setting out to buy a pub that will reignite his Farm to Fork restaurant vision.
"But the road to becoming a landlord isn't exactly straightforward, and with new faces, new livestock and new machinery arriving at the farm, life at Diddly Squat is busier than ever."

Fragrance fans say this new £25 fruity scent ‘looks like DKNY and is perfect for autumn'

This top trending fragrance brand has just dropped a new hair and body mist in a delicious new scent, and it has already got perfume lovers calling it 'perfect for early autumn' As a beauty editor, I've tried and tested hundreds of perfumes, and nowadays I really don't believe that you need to spend a fortune to get a gorgeous scent. I often reach for TikTok-viral fragrance brand PHLUR, for example, over my designer perfumes, and it makes some really lovely, luxe-looking body mists that start from £25. Missing Person and Vanilla Skin are some of PHLUR's most popular scents, but a new one has just dropped that has already got beauty fans excited. PHLUR's Mrs Smith Hair & Body Fragrance Mist has dropped today on the PHLUR website and on Space NK, priced at £25 for a 3oz bottle and £38 for an 8oz one. A crisp, juicy concoction inspired by the taste of a freshly picked apple, its top notes are Granny Smith apple, pear and watermelon, with a heart of apple blossom, violet and Pink Lady apple. Finally, it settles down into lingering base notes of pink praline and musk nectar. I've already had a sniff of this new body mist, and can confirm that it's utterly delectable – more crisp and fresh than a lot of PHLUR's other scents, which tend to lean more towards gourmand – and smells exactly like biting into a fresh green apple. As Mrs Smith has only just hit the shops, there aren't any shopper reviews of it yet online, however Reddit users' interest was certainly piqued when they heard news of it launching: "You had me at Granny Smith! Bet this will be a perfect scent for early fall or next spring!" one person wrote. "IKR? But like 'early fall'! It would be a great scent right as it starts to get a bit chiller, but not really cold," someone else agreed. "Or when spring first starts and you want a really fresh scent on!" A third person, however, compared it to an iconic perfume: DKNY Be Delicious Eau de Parfum, which starts from £47. "This looks very DKNY Be Delicious and I'm here for it!" they wrote. One potential downside to using a body mist instead of a traditional perfume is its longevity; they're just not going to last as long on the skin as eau de toilettes or eau de parfums. However, you are of course paying less money per ml, so you can be a bit more free and easy with the spritzing. If you are looking for other fruity fragrances that lasts a bit longer, Kayali has some excellent options. Have a sniff of Kayali Eden Sparkling Lychee | 39 Eau de Parfum, £73, or Kayali LOVEFEST Burning Cherry | 48, £73.

Jess Glynne 'sickened' by White House using viral Jet 2 holiday song in deportation video

The White House used the viral Jet2 advert featuring Jess Glynne's song Hold My Hand, prompting backlash from the singer who said she feels 'sick' Jess Glynne had spoken out after discovering her hit single Hold My Hand was used in a White House video promoting ICE deportations, calling the move 'sick' and a complete misuse of her music, which she says is meant to bring people together not divide them. ‌ The video was posted on X by the official White House account earlier this week. The video features a montage of immigration detainees in hand and leg cuffs being escorted by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers onto a GlobalX flight. ‌ The video was accompanied by the caption: "When ICE books you a one-way Jet2 holiday to deportation. Nothing beats it!" ‌ Over the footage plays the now viral Jet2holiday advert, which features Jess' 2015 feel good anthem Hold My Hand alongside the chipper voiceover declaring "nothing beats a Jet2 holiday". Additionally the video features a clip of President Donald Trump giving a thumbs up, and a screenshot of an app which offers American immigrants the option to self-deport. The singer caught wind of the White House's post early on Wednesday morning and was quick to condemn the use of her song in the video. ‌ Sharing her reaction on Instagram Stories, Jess wrote: "This post honestly makes me sick. My music is about love, unity and spreading positivity - never about division or hate." The track's use comes as part of a wider meme trend that has exploded on TikTok in recent months. The Jet2holiday jingle and voiceover have been paired with everything from clumsy falls to hilarious stunts, often used in a comedic way. With over 71,000 TikTok posts featuring the audio, the trend had remained largely lighthearted, until now. ‌ The video has gained widespread criticism online, with many social media users expressing outrage at the White House. One expressed: "This is gross. Completely disgusting." ‌ As another simply stated: "Oh," along with multiple shocked emojis. Others have slammed the White House for ruining the trend, as one user wrote: "Just like that the trend is over." A fourth user branded the account as the worst on the site, saying: "There is no bigger as****e on this site than this account." One comment read: "This shows a real lack of humanity." Despite the backlash, the Trump administration, which returned to power earlier this year, appears unfazed. In a statement to The Independent, White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson doubled down on the X post. "There is nothing more unifying and positive than deporting criminal illegal aliens and making American communities safer," Jackson said. "The memes will continue until every criminal illegal alien is removed!"
