The Fire and Rescue Department received the alert at 5:06pm and arrived on scene by 5:15pm with support from three stations, including a water tanker from Tuaran. The 20-by-40-foot non-permanent structure was destroyed, but no casualties were reported. A 50-year-old woman suffered burns to her hand and received emergency treatment at the scene, according to the Fire and Rescue Department. Of the eight homes involved, five were completely destroyed while three others sustained about 10 percent damage. Twenty-five personnel from the Tawau Fire and Rescue Station were deployed following an emergency call received at 9.24pm via the Mers999 hotline. The 50-year-old victim suffered burns to her hands and was given emergency treatment at the scene. According to the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department, five houses were destroyed while three others sustained minor damage. A total of 25 firefighters from Tawau station were deployed to the site after receiving a distress call at 9.24pm via the Mers999 hotline. RANAU: The Ranau District Council (MDR) in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government and Housing (KKTP) and the Landscape and Sustainability Sector has implemented the Rakan Lestari Program in the Ranau district. This program is a green initiative which is carried out with the aim of further stimulating the community spirit in brightening up public areas. Rakan Lestari is a green community initiative in conjunction with I-Hijau 2024: The Green Initiative of the KKTP Sabah Maju Jaya Aspiration 'Towards Code Green', which was launched on 27 February 2024. The initiative, which was launched at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), was officiated by the Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Sabah KKTP, Datuk Seri Dr. Joachim Gunsalam. Among other things, the objectives of the Rakan Lestari Program are to establish close cooperation between the community and government agencies/local authorities; accelerate area monitoring with the help of the community and create a cheerful, clean and safe environment. Apart from that, it also aims to revitalize recreational areas through healthy activities, increase community harmony and unity, generate local economy and support local communities as well as beautify the landscape and upgrade the city's image. Activities in Ranau Town began with brightening up the Pentas Budaya area, which now looks fresher and more attractive after the painting process by the Rakan Lestari team. The MDR thanked all parties involved and the local residents who supported this noble effort.
