Hyundai to begin operations at NIMZ soon, says CM Revanth

SANGAREDDY: Global automotive giant Hyundai will soon start operations from the National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) in Zaheerabad, Sangareddy district. Around 450 acres of land have been allotted for the purpose. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy made this announcement at a public meeting at Pastapur near NIMZ on Friday.
He stated that the 5,612 persons who lost their land to NIMZ would be deemed eligible for the Indiramma Housing scheme and would get their own homes. He directed Sangareddy Collector Valluru Kranthi to begin the allotment process immediately.
The chief minister said that he believed NIMZ would become a key centre for the manufacturing and industrial sectors in the state.
He asserted that there would be no politics beyond elections and made it clear that he was prepared to work with the Union government to get funds for the development of Telangana.
CM promises to resolve water supply issues in Sangareddy
'NIMZ was sanctioned over 12,500 acres when J Geetha Reddy was a minister, but it was neglected by the previous BRS government from 2014 to 2023. Officials have since held discussions with farmers and revised compensation offers after Damodar Rajanarsimha informed me that only `2 lakh per acre was being offered for assigned lands and `5 lakh for patta lands. We are making efforts to establish industries here. Farmers have requested the establishment of a sugar industry. We are ready to provide funds from the state and seek support from the Centre, provided farmers are willing to form cooperatives,' Revanth said.
He added that the creation of industries would help address unemployment in the region.
Referring to former prime minister Indira Gandhi and her tenure representing Medak in the Lok Sabha, the chief minister recalled that industries such as BDL and the Ordnance Factory were established during that period, and Patancheru developed into a mini-India attracting people from across the country.
He also promised to resolve water supply issues in the district and to secure funds for constructing underpasses on highways, as requested by MP Suresh Shetkar and Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha.
Minister Konda Surekha, MP Suresh Shetkar, MLA Manik Rao, MLC Anji Reddy and others were also present at the meeting.

Govt aims to make India's auto industry No.1 globally in next five years: Nitin Gadkari

The government's aim is to make India's automobile industry the number one in the world in the next five years, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Tuesday. Launching a report prepared by The Express Industry Council of India (EICI) and KPMG, Gadkari said the future of express industry is very good in the country. "The size of Indian automobile industry is now Rs 22 lakh crore... my aim is to make India's automobile industry number one in the world in the next five years," Gadkari said. The minster further said when he took charge of the transport ministry in 2014, the size of the automobile industry was Rs 7.5 lakh crore and today its size is Rs 22 lakh crore. Presently, the size of the US automobile industry is Rs 78 lakh crore, followed by China (Rs 47 lakh crore) and India (Rs 22 lakh crore). Gadkari said the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is to make India third largest economy in the world and logistics sector will play an important role in achieving this dream. Gadkari said until recently, logistics cost in India was about 16 per cent of the gross domestic product (GDP). "I want to share that, according to a joint IIM-IIT survey, we have brought this (logistics cost) down to 10 per cent. "That is a major milestone and we are aiming to bring logistics cost down to single-digit soon," Gadkari said. The minister credited the fall in logistics cost to massive investments in expressway and economic corridors. According to the report titled 'Powering India's Economy, Connecting Business and Markets', express industry contributes USD 1-1.5 billion GST and USD 650 million to customs revenue annually. "The size of express industry sector is projected to double from USD 9 billion in FY25 to USD 18-22 billion by 2030, creating 6.5-7.5 million jobs," it said. The report noted that the express industry has transformed from a logistics facility to an essential service provider. Domestic express accounts for about 70 per cent of the total market, valued at USD 6.3-6.5 billion, with surface express contributing the largest share, it added. The report added that international express segment with a share of about 30 per cent, handled 19.5 million shipment, weighing about 1,52,300 tonnes in FY24.

Amit Shah To Introduce 3 J&K-Linked Bills In Parliament On Wednesday To Tackle 'Tainted' Ministers

Last Updated: These bills will mandate the dismissal of a minister within 30 days of their arrest on corruption charges Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to introduce three bills on Wednesday aimed at addressing corruption allegations against incumbent ministers. The Home Minister will introduce the Union Territory Administration Amendment Bill, 2025, the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill, 2025, and the 130th Constitutional Amendment Bill. These bills will mandate the dismissal of a minister within 30 days of their arrest on corruption charges. In section 54 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019, after sub-section (5), the following sub-section shall be inserted: 'A minister who is arrested and detained in custody for any period of thirty consecutive days, on allegations of committing an offence under any law currently in force, punishable with imprisonment for a term of five years or more, shall be removed from office by the Lieutenant Governor on the advice of the Chief Minister, by the thirty-first day of being taken into custody." Similar sections are being included in the UT Act (Clause 5A to be added to Section 45) and the 130th Constitutional Amendment Bill (Clause 5A to be inserted in Article 75 and Article 239Aa, Clause 4A to Article 164). 'The elected representatives embody the hopes and aspirations of the people of India. It is expected that they rise above political interests and act solely in the public interest and for the welfare of the people," the statement reads. It adds that the character and conduct of ministers holding office should be beyond any suspicion. 'A minister facing allegations of serious criminal offences, arrested and detained in custody, may undermine constitutional morality and principles of good governance, and ultimately diminish the constitutional trust reposed by the people in him." The statement further notes that since the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019 (34 of 2019) lacks provisions for the removal of the Chief Minister or a minister arrested and detained on serious criminal charges, there is a need to amend section 54 of the Act to establish a legal framework for their removal in such cases. The listing of the bill has sparked intense speculation about the potential restoration of statehood for Jammu and Kashmir. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. South Gujarat farmers oppose duty-free cotton imports

Surat: Farmers in South Gujarat have raised concerns over the Union finance ministry's decision to remove the 11% import duty on cotton, saying it will adversely impact local growers. The exemption, which came into effect on Tuesday, will remain valid for 42 days, until Sept 30. Jayesh Patel, director of the Dakshin Gujarat Sahkari Cotton Union, urged chief minister Bhupendra Patel to take up the issue with the Union finance ministry. "The duty-free import of cotton will hurt Gujarat's farmers, who are already facing challenges," he said. According to Patel, the move is aimed at easing supply for the textile industry, but farmers in Gujarat — India's largest cotton-producing state — fear severe losses. Last year, Gujarat produced 90 lakh bales of cotton out of India's total output of 336 lakh bales. One bale equals about 140 kg. Farmers point out that from Oct, the new cotton season will bring fresh supply to the market. Gujarat's 50 lakh farmers earn over Rs 70,000 crore annually from cotton cultivation. With cheaper foreign cotton entering India duty-free, they fear being forced to sell their produce at lower prices, leading to severe financial setbacks. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Berkshire Hathaway: American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends These 5 Books For Turning Your Li... Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo "Farmer representatives have urged the Centre to reconsider the decision, stressing that uninterrupted duty-free imports will push cultivators into distress. They appealed to the govt to protect domestic producers, warning that failure to act could endanger the livelihoods of millions of cotton-growing families in Gujarat," added Patel. As per an estimate, the production of cotton is likely to remain low this season. To manage the supply, the govt has removed duty on cotton import for 42 days. It is expected to create enough supply of cotton in the country. In case of a short supply of cotton, it can push the prices of cotton cloth upwards, and the prices of cotton may increase.
