The Nissan driver won the championship with two races to spare and becomes the 10th different champion in 11 seasons.

Porsche's Pascal Wehrlein was Rowland's closest title rival, but the German slipped down to 16th in Sunday's race despite starting on pole at Berlin's old Tempelhof airport.
"Honestly, I was just thinking before the race not to have too much damage going into [the final round in] London," said Rowland.
"I can't believe it, I have no words. It's incredible. I was trying to play it safe but everybody was so aggressive, so at some point I was all in.
"Thankfully I stayed out of trouble."
It has been a dominant season for Rowland, with victories in Mexico, Jeddah, Monaco and Tokyo, before Sunday's in Germany.

He has 184 points going into the final two races of the season in London (26-27 July), while Wehrlein sits on 125.
Jaguar's Nick Cassidy won Sunday's race as Jake Dennis (Andretti) finished second and Jean-Eric Vergne (DS Penske) came home in third.
Nissan are the only Japanese manufacturer to have won the championship.

'Not the End of the Story:' An Even Crazier Corvette ZR1X Could Still Happen

With 1,250 horsepower from a hybridized V-8, the new ZR1X is the pinnacle of the C8 Corvette—the culmination of all things possible. At least, so we thought. Even as the fastest, quickest, and most powerful performance car the company has ever produced, Chevrolet seemingly isn't satisfied. In a recent interview with Top Gear , chief engineer Tony Roma hinted at the possibility of an even more ridiculous Corvette down the line. "The ZR1X is not the end of the story," he says, "it's just the latest chapter." 2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X Photo by: Chevrolet While not an outright confirmation that Chevy is working on a more potent ZR1 or ZR1X, Roma's quotes do indicate that the company is at least exploring ways to extract even more out of the C8 platform. One thing that Roma does say, though, is that he and his team want to make sure that the ZR1X is even faster than the standard ZR1, which hit 233 miles per hour at the ATP Automotive Testing facility in Papenburg, Germany, earlier this year. He said: 'I think we are going to continue to make the car faster for those bragging rights, because our customers appreciate that. It's the same with any performance car manufacturer—we push each other with Nürburgring lap times for that reason.' As of yet, Chevrolet hasn't topped out the ZR1X. But the company is confident it should exceed the ZR1's 233-mph speed. As for the Nurburgring, Ford currently holds the fastest lap time for an American car, with the Mustang GTD lapping the Green Hell in 6 minutes, 52.072 seconds. Chevrolet has that record in its sights with the ZR1X. "We've done some testing, and all I can say is… stay tuned," Roma tells Top Gear . "We want to be the fastest American car—that's an accolade we'd love to have. Again, it comes down to theory. None of our customers will go and run a sub-seven-minute lap time, but they want to know if they could." We'll definitely stay tuned, indeed. BMW affirms margins outlook: How the company is managing tariffs

BMW ( is holding up better than its rivals despite new US tariffs, thanks in part to US SUV production and pricing changes on Mexico-built models. Yahoo Finance Senior Reporter Pras Subramanian joins Market Catalysts to explain how the automaker is navigating tariff pressure. To watch more expert insights and analysis on the latest market action, check out more Market Catalysts here. Let's stick with this focus on tariffs because shares of BMW rising nearly 4% after a call reaffirming its auto margins for the second quarter and full year. It's the rare piece of good news from German automakers. They have been warning they'll be taking a hit from US tariffs. Yahoo Finance senior reporter Pras Subramanian is here with the details. So how did BMW manage to navigate this better? I'm a little surprised they're able to do that. I mean, they they talked about how they would they would take a tariff hit and they were price protecting some US models through May. Uh it seems they they've stopped doing that. They've raised prices on some cars that are built in Mexico. So that might be how they're maintaining some of their margins. They're leaning on their European operations and China bit weaker. So they're going to try to defray some of that with with that. But, um, you know, expectations wise, you know, I think they might be expecting a trade deal. I think they think there's a trade deal happening potentially in July with that 10% deal. Maybe they kind of see that happening. more uh, more positive about that than other automakers. I think that's why they're able to sort of maintain that that profit margin expectation. Uh, plus they also a big part of is they build a lot of their SUVs in America and they export them to the rest of the world. So that's no tariffs there. So maybe that's part of why they're able to see that they can maintain some of their profitability in light of tariffs. And so, what about the rest? Because obviously, if BMW is the outlier, that means the other German automakers, and I'm guessing European automakers more broadly are are struggling with this? Yeah, yeah. Uh, Mercedes and Porsche are struggling here. Mercedes, even though they have they have operations in Alabama, uh they saw sales dip in the US. They price protected all 2025 models through the If you order one car today, they'll still price protect you. So they're absorbing that cost. They're seeing that bring down some of their sales there in the US. Porsche on the other hand actually saw um, saw sales rise in the US, but they they attributed to the fact they have all this pre-tariff inventory they were selling off. Um they were eating the costs and they're they're probably not going to keep doing that. They make all their vehicles in Germany and some in Slovenia. So they're really tied to the tariff situation. They're they're probably hoping that they're going to see this deal come through. So right now they're they're really the ones that are sort of struggling the most in terms of tariff exposure.

Can Newcastle United Sign Hugo Ekitike To Partner Alexander Isak?

FRANKFURT AM MAIN, GERMANY - AUGUST 31: Hugo Ekitike of Eintracht Frankfurt celebrates scoring his ... (Photo by) Throughout the summer, Newcastle United has faced speculation over its star striker Alexander Isak. But ahead of its return to the Champions League, the club is targeting an ambitious move to sign another exciting forward to partner the Swede up front in Eintracht Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike. The 23-year-old is widely expected to leave the Bundesliga club this summer and a move to the Premier League is said to be a high priority, though Frankfurt is currently demanding any suitor pay his £85m ($115m) release clause. Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool are all interested, with the Reds reportedly looking at Ekitike as a first alternative to Isak if, as expected, Newcastle stands firm on his future. But Newcastle is in need of an attacker after the departure of Callum Wilson, and like the idea of Isak and Ekitike combining, or at least providing strong competition for one another. Ekitike's name will be known to Newcastle fans. The club has attempted to sign him twice in the last four years, initially coming close in January 2022. It was Newcastle's first window after the takeover, and Ekitike, a teenager at the time, was at Reims. The interest was an early indication of Newcastle's recruitment blueprint, signing young, exciting talent at a fraction of its potential value. Ekitike opted to join Paris Saint-Germain, initially on loan, but played a handful of games and struggled with competition from the likes of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar at Parc des Princes. He moved to Germany for the second half of the 2023-24 season on loan, going permanently the following summer having lost valuable development time. His 18 month stint at Frankfurt has worked wonders. Last season, Ekitike scored 22 goals in all competitions with 11 assists, re-establishing him as one of the most exciting forwards around. Newcastle signed Isak and he has thrived at St James' Park. But contact with and interest in Ekitike has never ceased; such is the depth of detail in its scouting, rarely does the club fully move on from a target. Earlier this summer, Newcastle offered more than £50m ($67m) for Joao Pedro, the other striker it wanted to sign before Isak signed, only for him to join Brighton from Watford after the club changed focus in August 2022. The Brazilian opted to move to Chelsea instead. Given Newcastle needs a striker again and has already returned to its old list once, it makes sense for it to do it again with Ekitike. The Frenchman is the ideal profile wanted by Eddie Howe to both compliment and compete with Isak, particularly in terms of versatile, able to play off the left or drop deep and combine with midfielders or run in behind and score. He is good at both creating chances for himself (in the 96th percentile of Bundesliga strikers for progressive carries) and others (94th percentile for shot creating actions, according to and a lethal finisher. Others, including Brentford's 28-year-old Yoan Wissa, are possibilities, but Newcastle's options cover a wide range of scenarios. It would be an ambitious move for Newcastle to make a third attempt to sign Ekitike, and that is genuinely being considered. But there are serious hurdles to surpass. FRANKFURT AM MAIN, GERMANY - APRIL 26: Hugo Ekitike of Eintracht Frankfurt celebrates scoring his ... More team's third goal during the Bundesliga match between Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig at Deutsche Bank Park on April 26, 2025 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. (Photo by) Newcastle is considered an outsider in the race for Ekitike for a number of reasons. Firstly, Isak's presence is a complication. Although Howe needs a Champions League-quality addition up front, any potential option will arrive at St James' Park knowing he will be behind Newcastle's top scorer in the pecking order. Yes, it is possible for two strikers to pair up; Ekitike did so with Omar Marmoush at Frankfurt last season before he joined Manchester City and Isak regularly combines with Viktor Gyokeres and new club mate Anthony Elanga for Sweden. But Howe prefers a 4-3-3 system and upsetting the midfield balance in particular would be a risky strategy. Ekitike could play wide on the left, but Newcastle already has Anthony Gordon and and Harvey Barnes there. The reality is Ekitike could get more game time in a position he'd like, as well as better wages, at other clubs who want to sign him. Cost will also be something to consider. Newcastle has a sizeable budget to spend this summer, with £55m ($74m) already spent on Elanga, and a centre back and goalkeeper also required. Although Newcastle reacts to sign priority targets, it would be a push to match Frankfurt's valuation and still cover all bases. Crucially, though, not impossible. Ekitike remains an ideal option up front for Newcastle, and the club is aware of the challenges of getting a deal done. Yet all the reasons to discredit the possibility are speculative; it will undoubtedly be tough, but if the club is to progress, signings like this must become a more regular occurrence.
