Catherine Zeta-Jones was told romance with Michael Douglas would never last

Daily Mirror3 days ago
Catherine Zeta-Jones reflects on people telling her that her marriage wouldn't last' due to her 25-year age gap with Michael Douglas, as the pair prepare for a major milestone
Wednesday actress Catherine Zeta-Jones has admitted that nobody thought her marriage to Michael Douglas 'would ever last' as the couple prepare to celebrate a huge wedding milestone.

55-year-old Catherine is about to celebrate her 25th wedding anniversary with 80-year-old Michael, but many doubted that their relationship would stand the test of time due to their age gap.

Despite their 25-year age gap, the loved-up couple have proven that age is just a number as Catherine has described their life together as full of 'love and fun'. The couple are also proud parents to 25-year-old Dylan and 22-year-old Carys. It comes after Princess Andre says she's 'independent' from parents as she breaks silence after Katie Price row.

The couple officially tied the knot in the year 2000 in a lavish ceremony in New York, and Catherine recently opened up on people doubting their relationship. She told The Sun: 'We've been married 25 years, it's something to celebrate. And they said it would never last! It's a journey of learning and loving and fun, and the prospect of reaching a 25-year anniversary is really quite thrilling. I remember my mum and dad celebrating theirs'.
Speaking of her big anniversary, Catherine said she will be filming for Wednesday on the actual day but they think there will be a party coming up soon for it.

She said: 'I think I'll be shooting season three of Wednesday, but we will be celebrating. We'll do something around the holidays. But 25 years is a big one. It's a real milestone. We're excited. I think we are going to be doing a party around the holidays because I will be shooting. We also have our birthdays, which we share [25 September], so it's going to be pretty busy!'
Catherine previously reflected on the 'up-and-downs' of her marriage. The loved-up couple did briefly separate in 2013 but came back together the following year.

In an 2023 interview with The Telegraph, the actress said: 'It's impossible for there not to be ups and downs if you live with the same person and wake up with them every day. I've been waking up to Mike for nearly 25 years. I love being married but it's a crazy thing when you really think about it. "Will you marry me?" "Sure!"
Despite their ups and downs, Catherine said they are 'very good together' and that she never really felt like he was 25 years older.

Catherine plays the iconic Morticia Adams in Wednesdays with Jenna Ortega playing the role of the protagonist, Wednesday Addams.
It is no secret that Lady Gaga has been cast for the second series of the show, however, she was nowhere to be seen in part one on Netflix. Lady Gaga's character is described as a mysterious figure, a legendary Nevermore teacher who encounters Wednesday.
Wednesday season 2 part 1 is available on Netflix, with part 2 set to be released on 3 September.

Amazon's biggest show sounded like hot garbage - now I'm completely hooked

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Warning: Spoilers for The Summer I Turned Pretty. When Amazon Prime Video's The Summer I Turned Pretty came out in 2022, I rolled my eyes and wrote it off. The cheesy teen drama about two brothers (Conrad and Jeremiah) fighting for the love of their childhood best friend, Belly (yes, that's really her name), was so far out of the realm of my usual taste that I already knew I would hate it. There would be the cringey dialogue, the on-the-nose needle drops from Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo (who I love when they're not the backing track to a completely bonkers love triangle), and a plot so infuriating I simply wouldn't be able to take it seriously. Up until now, everything I had gathered about this show was pieced together from glimpses of a trailer on Prime or I'd occasionally stumble into online discourse about 'Team Conrad or Team Jeremiah' (my only thought at the time – they'll never be Edward and Jacob) That said, I didn't want to criticise it too much. After all, I'm not in the business of yucking people's yum. Especially since many of the fans of the show seemed to be longtime fans of the original book series released by Jenny Han in 2009, and it's always exciting to have something nostalgic for you brought to the screen. But, quietly, every summer while people tuned in to see whether Belly was pretty yet (that's the plot, right?), I grew more and more baffled as to the appeal. Of course, I understand the allure of slightly too-earnest teen shows (my not-so guilty pleasure is XO, Kitty on Netflix). Sometimes you just want to watch something that you can switch your brain off to and know, ultimately, that everything will be okay. However, there seemed to be something so off-putting about a brotherly showdown (already an outdated plotline) filled with characters that seemed to grow increasingly annoying as the years went by. How hard can it be to pick a brother? I found myself wondering. Fast forward to early August this year. The sun is beating down, I'm in a TV show drought, and my TikTok feed launches a concerted campaign to get me to finally break as the third and final season airs. After the 10,000th video of my favourite creators dissecting the show in all its craziness, I decided it was time to make the plunge and see what all the fuss is about. It's not topping the charts with millions of viewers for nothing. This was all last week. Since then, I have watched 20 episodes and have almost entirely caught up. I could happily write a thesis about why Belly should end up with neither brother (Cam Cameron for the win). In other words…. I'm hooked. I put my hands up. I hang my head in shame! 'I was wrong', I cry from the rafters as I watch my fourth episode of the night. Don't mistake me, this show is utterly absurd. Why do the brothers treat each other like acquaintances forced to hang out with some mutual friends a couple of times a year? Why has everyone just got over Belly going from one brother to the next in the space of a month (with the funeral of their mother jammed in between!) Why hasn't Conrad found literally anyone to date while studying at Stanford? Instead, he remains hung up on his ex, who is dating his brother (just in case you need another reminder). Why hasn't anyone sent Jeremiah to therapy to work through his self-esteem issues? (Come on dude, your girlfriend is clearly not over… you guessed it… your brother). Why is no one batting an eyelid at the weird, weird episode where Belly has to share one motel room with both brothers, whom she is still choosing between. (I love the one-bed trope as much as the next person but…) None of this matters, though, because it (begrudgingly) makes for excellent TV. More Trending Frankly, for a teen drama, the stakes are so messy that I simply have to see how this gets resolved. Will Belly tear this family apart, or will they find a way through this? I don't know, but unfortunately, I have to find out. View More » The Summer I Turned Pretty is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video with season three episodes airing every Wednesday. Love Is Blind UK cast revealed Married presenters Matt and Emma are returning to front the unconventional reality show which discovers whether love really is blind. Speaking of the new series, the streaming giant explained: "The UK and Ireland-based singles who want to be loved for who they are have signed up for a less-conventional approach to modern dating, and will choose someone to marry without ever meeting them. "Over several weeks, the newly engaged couples will move in together, plan their wedding and find out if their physical connection matches their strong emotional bond developed in the Pods. "When their wedding day arrives, will real-world realities and external factors push them apart, or will they marry the person they fell blindly in love with? Wednesday star unrecognisable in Netflix's raunchy new adult comedy

It comes from the maker of some of your favourite childhood shows A star of hit series Wednesday is unrecognisable in Netflix's raunchy new adult comedy. ‌ Fixed is now available exclusively on the streaming platform from today (August 13). It features an all-star cast but fans will not be able to spot the famous faces from their usual looks. ‌ That is because the new release is an animated movie unlike almost anything you've probably seen before. However there are plenty of voices that will be familiar to viewers. ‌ Not only that but the art style will be familiar to many who grew up on Cartoon Network. That is because the film comes from the mind of visionary writer and director Genndy Tartakovsky. Considered by many as a legend in the animation industry, he also created Dexter's Laboratory, Samurai Jack and Primal. Tartakovsky also wrote for The Powerpuff Girls and Star Wars: Clone Wars series. He is also behind all the Hotel Transylvania movies, while also voicing the role of Blobby since the third instalment in 2018. ‌ Fixed follows the story of Bull, an average, all-around good dog who discovers he's going to be neutered in the morning. As the gravity of this life-altering event sets in, Bull realises he needs one last adventure with his pack of best friends as these are the last 24 hours with his balls. What could go wrong? The stellar voice cast is led by Pitch Perfect and The Righteous Gemstones star Adam Devine, who plays Bull. He is joined by Idris Elba, playing Rocco and Agatha All Along actress Kathryn Hahn as Honey. Saturday Night Live alum Bobby Moynihan plays Lucky while Fred Armisen, recognisable for playing Uncle Fester in Netflix's Wednesday series takes on the part of Fetch. For those who still can't tell who he is, that is the dog with glasses. ‌ It's been a long time coming for the film to be released. Initially it was cancelled by Warner Bros as part of their cost saving measures and Netflix passed on it in 2024. A year later and its now streaming. When asked what they would have done if the movie had never been released, star Devine joked: "I would burn Hollywood to the ground. I would have retired, I would have moved back to Omaha, Nebraska and become a real estate agent. That was my back-up plan, but I do think I would have been a great real estate agent." Now that the film is finally out, reviews are starting to be published online. While early reactions were mostly positive, critical reception has turned out mostly mixed. ‌ At the time of writing, it holds a 68% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. There is praise for the voice acting and animation style but ultimately, many are put off by the explicit nature of the film. One critic claimed: "Fitfully funny and laudable for its veneration of classic animation styles. But Genndy Tartakovsky's latest film mostly corners the market (and marks the corner) on every obvious punchline about neutered dogs & too rarely reaches for laughs beyond them." ‌ Another added: "What is the Purpose of this film? Sure it has a funny concept... but after the first 20 minutes it gets old sadly... I just wanted more from this. Surely an Homage to old school animation but its missing the charm." However there are others who recommend viewing it, albeit just to see it exists. One review stated: "What Tartakovsky delivers with the shackles off is enough of a reason to support this absurdly vulgar animated film. Netflix has saved a movie that needs to be seen to be believed." Someone else claimed: "It's clear that Fixed is, very much, a movie that is not for everyone. But those who do get on its particular wavelength will be rewarded by one of the most original and surprising animated features of the past few years."
