Antonio Felix Da Costa counting positives as he finishes third at Shanghai E-Prix: 'It was all about bringing the podium home'

The TAG Heuer Porsche driver was pleased to finish third on the podium at the Shanghai E-Prix and also expressed happiness for winner Nick Cassidy of Jaguar TCS Racing. Da Costa wasn't the only member of his team to reach the podium—he was joined by teammate Pascal Wehrlein, who secured second place. Antonio Da Costa on finishing third in Shanghai Sharing his experience after the race, Da Costa said, 'It was very hard from inside the car. I felt like my balance wasn't quite there and I really struggled with my rears, so it wasn't enjoyable and it was very hard to keep the car on track. I was slow to be honest, but good enough for a podium – two cars from the team are on the podium so that's always positive.' Talking about his third-place finish, he added, 'I'm happy for Nick [Cassidy], he did a really good job, but we've got good points. Starting second and finishing third is not ideal – in the beginning I thought we had something, but then it was clear to me that I didn't have the pace of the two cars in front, so it was all about bringing the podium home.' Antonio now stands third in the 2025 Formula E Driver Standings with 88 points. Taking to Instagram after the race, Antonio Felix Da Costa shared a picture of himself spraying champagne from the podium. He wrote along with it, 'Today we got a podium. P3 on a very rainy day. We keep fighting. Thanks guys.' Many congratulated him in the comments section. One fan wrote in his praise, 'You drive great and make Portugal proud beyond its borders. You will win the championship. I believe in you. Go for it.' Another said, 'A weekend where I can see your smile. Thank you too.' One more added, 'Let's go.' Tokyo E-Prix Round 8 results: Stoffel Vandoorne clinches long-awaited win in wet conditions; Oliver Rowland finishes second

Maserati MSG Racing driver Stoffel Vandoorne brought a pleasant surprise as he clinched his first ever Formula E win in Round 8 on Saturday. It was the strategic timing of his Pit Boost which gave him the required lead to cross the finish line first. Tokyo E-Prix Round 8 race results Stoffel Vandoorne's win in Tokyo comes three years and 49 races after his last win at the Monaco E-Prix in 2022. Nissan's Oliver Rowland started from the pole position after winning FP2 (as the Qualifying was cancelled) and took the second spot on the podium. He has been leading the 2025 Formula E Driver Standings since long and currently stands far ahead of the competition with 133 points. Taylor Barnard, who learnt kart racing at Rowland's karting school, gave him company on the podium on the third spot. Winner of the last race in Monaco, Envision Racing's Sebastien Buemi finished fourth. Cupra Kiro driver Dan Ticktum was next in the fifth position. Edoardo Mortara who started from the second spot on the grid ended the race in sixth position. Antonio Da Costa gained a few positions to finish seventh after starting from the 11th position on the grid. Last year's Tokyo E-Prix winner Maximilian Guenther's car suffered technical problems during the race and brought his race to an end. Red Flags came out as his car came to a stop, leading Vandoorne's Pit Boost stop becoming a sureshot success while the others waited for the race to resume. Jaguar TCS Racing's Mitch Evans also had to retire following a contact with Nyck de Vries which caused rear suspension damage in his car. De Vries ended eighth in the race. Rowland, who finished second in last year's debut Japan race, is aiming for the podium in Tokyo once again. His victories include the Mexico E-Prix, Part 2 of the Jeddah E-Prix, and Part 1 of the Monaco E-Prix. He also secured third place at the São Paulo E-Prix and finished second in Part 1 of the Jeddah E-Prix. Currently, Rowland leads the 2025 Formula E World Championship with 115 points in the Driver Standings.
