Kuwait Courts handled 5,234 traffic cases in Q1
KUWAIT CITY, July 19: Official statistics issued by the Statistics and Research Department at the Ministry of Justice revealed that courts in various governorates handled 5,234 traffic cases in the first quarter of 2025, indicating that 2,906 of these cases were adjudicated, while 2,328 cases were postponed. The statistics revealed that Hawally Court topped the list in terms of the number of adjudicated cases, with 597, followed by Farwaniya Court with 552 and Capital Court with 491. In contrast, Mubarak Al-Kabeer Court recorded the lowest number of resolved cases with 404. For postponed cases, Jahra Court topped the list with 576 cases, followed by Hawally Court with 489 cases; while Farwaniya Court ranked last in terms of the number of postponed cases with 300. Regarding the total number of cases received, Hawally Court ranked first with 1,086 cases, followed by Jahra Court with 1,050, and Farwaniya Court with 852. In addition, statistics showed that traffic courts issued 1,524 criminal rulings and penal orders in the first quarter of 2025 -- 70 driving license revocation rulings, 43 prison sentences, and 48 traffic fatality cases pending in the courts. Hawally Court recorded the highest number of criminal rulings and orders issued, with 626, followed by the Capital with 304 and Farwaniya with 223. According to the statistics, the total collected criminal fees in the same period amounted to KD87,609, distributed as follows: Capital Court with KD21,996; Hawally Court with KD15,925; Ahmadi Court with KD12,725; Farwaniya Court with KD16,823; Mubarak Al-Kabeer Court with KD10,600 and Jahra Court with KD9,540. Commenting on the figures, Attorney Hussein Al-Asfour stated 'the issuance of this large number of rulings within a short period reflects the seriousness of the courts in addressing the traffic problem, and confirms the role of the judiciary in protecting lives and properties.' Al-Asfour stressed that 'the fine and imprisonment rulings send a firm legal message to those who act recklessly and contribute to enforcing the rule of law, especially in light of the unfortunate increase in accidents resulting from speeding or driving under the influence of drugs.'

SEREMBAN, June 5 (Bernama) -- A former company director pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here today to eight charges of improper use of company property, amounting to RM153,609 between 2019 and 2020. Chin Wei Choong, 42, made the plea after the charges were read out before Judge Mohamad Kamil Nizam. On four of the charges, he was charged as a director of Ambitious Supreme Sdn Bhd, to have used the company property, involving RM8,829; RM32,710; RM60,000; and RM7,070, without the consent or ratification of the company's general meeting to indirectly benefit him. It was for payments to several companies for work done for Tadika Universal Sdn Bhd, a company with which he had an interest, through Academy Adelphi Worldwide Hotels Sdn Bhd, between Nov 1, 2019, and Jan 10, 2020. He was also charged with four counts of committing a similar offence, involving RM10,000; RM10,000; RM15,000; and RM10,000 involving company property, to indirectly benefit him through a loan made to Tadika Universal Sdn Bhd, in which he has an interest, through Academy Adelphi Worldwide Hotels Sdn Bhd between Aug 6 and Oct 28, 2020. The offences were allegedly committed at a premises in Oakland Commerce Square here. The charges, framed under Section 218(1)(a) of the Companies Act 2016 and punishable under Section 218(2) of the same law, provide imprisonment for up to five years or a fine not exceeding RM3 million or both, if convicted. Chin was allowed bail of RM1,000 for each charge with one surety, and the court set July 31 for mention. Prosecuting officer Muhammad Akmal Azmi, from the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM), appeared for the prosecution, while lawyer Tan Zhi Xian represented Chin.

UPPSC CES Prelims 2025: Results out; 7358 aspirants qualify for Mains
UPPSC CES Prelims Results 2025: The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has declared the results for the Combined State Engineering Services (Preliminary) Examination 2024, held on April 20, 2025. Students will be able to check the UPPSC CES prelims PDF on the official website– The recruitment drive, advertised under No. A-9/E-1/2024, dated December 17, 2024, received a total of 78,798 applications, out of which 31,639 candidates appeared for the UPPSC CES preliminary exam. Step 1: Visit the official website– Step 2: Under the notification section, look for the CES prelims result PDF Step 3: Click on the link and look for the PDF. Students can also press Control and F, and copy their roll number on the box to expedite the process. Following the evaluation of the CES prelims, 7,358 UPPSC candidates have been shortlisted to appear for the main examination. This year, there are 609 vacancies across the general and special recruitment categories. The Commission has informed that a separate notification detailing the main exam schedule and application process will be released soon. Candidates are advised to keep a track on the official UPPSC website — — for the latest updates and instructions. Meanwhile, the Commission has released the dates for the UPPSC State PSC mains examination schedule. The exam will be held between June 29 and July 2. After cracking the UPPSC Prelims, 15,066 candidates will appear for the mains exam. Through this exam, candidates will be offered jobs in various government departments within the state. Those who successfully pass the UPPSC PCS mains exam will then need to attend an interview. The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission exam is a state-level examination to select applicants for various positions within the state government of Uttar Pradesh. The examination is divided into three parts — the preliminary exam, the mains exam, and the interview.
