‘Lilo & Stitch' movie review: A rumbustious, out-of-this-world adventure

Chris Sanders' and Dean DeBlois' Lilo & Stitch (2002) telling the story of a wildly destructive blue alien who lands in Hawaii to discover the meaning of family was hailed for its charm and humour, and Disney's live action reboot retains the wit and warmth of the original. Lilo & Stitch (English) Director: Dean Fleischer Camp Starring: Sydney Elizebeth Agudong, Billy Magnussen, Hannah Waddingham, Chris Sanders, Courtney B. Vance, Zach Galifianakis, Maia Kealoha Run time: 108 minutes Storyline: A destructive alien lands on earth, is adopted by a six-year-old Hawaiian girl and hunted by its evil creator The story is mostly the same, with evil Kweltikwan genius, Dr. Jumba Jookiba (Zach Galifianakis), in a great deal of trouble with the United Galactic Federation for his nasty experiments, including creating an indestructible agent of chaos, Experiment 626 (Chris Sanders). Though initially the Grand Councilwoman (Hannah Waddingham) imprisons Jumba and shuts down his lab, when 626 escapes to earth, he is sent to capture it. Agent Wendell Pleakley (Billy Magnussen), who has done intensive study on earth fashions, (when we first see him, he has on a cowboy hat) is sent along to ensure Jumba does not harm humans. In Hawaii, Lilo (Maia Kealoha), a six-year-old orphan with a singular imagination, and a propensity for trouble, is the cause of a great deal of worry for her sister, Nani (Sydney Elizebeth Agudong). Nani is Lilo's legal guardian and has given up a chance to study marine biology on a full scholarship to take care of her little sister. Her efforts might not be enough as the social worker, Mrs. Kekoa (Tia Carrere), warns her. Mrs. Kekoa gives Nani a week to get everything in order, including cleaning the kitchen, stocking the refrigerator, and getting medical insurance to keep Lilo out of foster care. Lilo wishes for a friend upon a falling star, which is actually 626's stolen police cruiser. She adopts 626 from the animal shelter where the naughty alien, who has assumed the shape of a dog, is kept after causing mayhem at a wedding. Lilo names 626, Stitch, and their mischief causes Nani to lose her job. CIA agent, Cobra Bubbles (Courtney B. Vance) is also on the hunt for Stitch. Cobra Bubbles incidentally was the social worker in the original. Nani's friend, David (Kaipo Dudoit), is a surfer and his grandmother, Tūtū (Amy Hill), helps Nani care for Lilo. ALSO READ:The politics of the Cannes red carpet The visuals are bright pops of colour, with the gloriously rendered CGI aliens seamlessly interacting with the humans. Stitch, with his grinning mouth and gleaming eyes, is a delight. The action is inventive and Kealoha making her acting debut as Lilo is cute beyond belief. Magnussen, as Pleakley, gets most of the funny lines. Sanders, who conceptualised and voiced Stitch in the original, is on top of his game. It is nice to see Carrere, who was Nani's voice in the original. Lilo & Stitch is one of Disney's better live-action adaptations delivering a perfect mix of nostalgia and novelty. Lilo & Stitch is currently running in theatres

2025 PGA Championship prop bets, odds and PGA Tour predictions

2025 PGA Championship prop bets, odds and PGA Tour predictions The world's best players are in Charlotte, North Carolina, this week for the 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow. It's the year's second major, coming just a month after Rory McIlroy took home the green jacket at the Masters. The first round begins on Thursday morning. Below, we search for the best value prop bets for the 107th PGA Championship from BetMGM Sportsbook's odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions. With this being a major championship, some of LIV Golf's best players will be in the field – including Bryson DeChambeau, who's among the favorites to win. Brooks Koepka and Jon Rahm will also be vying for the Wanamaker Trophy in Charlotte. Scottie Scheffler is tied with McIlroy as the co-favorites at +500, with DeChambeau third (+800). It's a loaded field with 156 total golfers, which will then be cut down to the top 70 and ties after Friday's second round. Quail Hollow is a regular stop on the PGA Tour, hosting the Wells Fargo Championship each year. It's a long, difficult course that typically favors big hitters off the tee, creating challenging approaches into the green. This week, it will play at 7,626 yards as a par 71, making it the third-longest course on the PGA Tour schedule so far this year. PGA Championship: Best outright winner bets PGA Championship – Top-5 picks Odds provided by BetMGM Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Tuesday at 8:39 p.m. ET. Rory McIlroy (+100) McIlroy is the king of Quail Hollow and he has a great chance to win his second major of the year this week, which is why he's the co-favorite with Scheffler. He's a good bet to win outright, but as some insurance, take him to finish in the top 5. His length off the tee and improved approach game will keep him in contention. Bryson DeChambeau (+188) DeChambeau is right there with Scheffler and McIlroy as a top contender this week and for good reason, given how long he hits it off the tee and how well he's been putting. His irons were off at Augusta and he still tied for fifth after a terrible Sunday. If his approach game is dialed in, he'll be tough to beat. Ludvig Aberg (+500) Aberg is almost on the verge of winning his first major and this could be the week where he gets it done. He's long and accurate off the tee, which will keep him in the fairways and out of the long rough. There are still some questions about his closing ability on Sundays and he hasn't played Quail Hollow before, but he's a fit for any course. WATCH: Get ESPN+ PGA Championship – Top-10 picks Justin Thomas (+160) Thomas won the 2017 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow so naturally, he's going to be a popular pick. Beyond that bit of history, he's playing extremely well this year, winning the RBC Heritage in a playoff and finishing second 3 other times in 2025 alone. He's ready to get back in the major championship circle. Hideki Matsuyama (+320) Matsuyama finished fifth at the 2017 PGA Championship here, showing he has what it takes to contend at this beast of a course. He's coming off a T-17 finish at the Truist Championship despite struggling on Sunday and is entering the week in good form. Xander Schauffele (+188) The reigning PGA champion may not be as sharp as he was this time last year, but he's been the runner-up at Quail Hollow in the Wells Fargo Championship each of the last 2 years after also finishing 14th in 2021. Plus, he's a top-10 machine in U.S. Opens and PGA Championships, coming in the top 10 nine times in his last 16 starts in those 2 events. PGA Championship – Top-20 picks Patrick Reed (+225) Reed tied for second in the 2017 PGA Championship and finished eighth and sixth in the Wells Fargo Championship in 2018 and 2021, respectively. He knows this course well and has had success this season, coming in third at the Masters in April. Brooks Koepka (+175) Koepka's odds have gotten long in majors due to his recent strugg, les but he's won the PGA Championship 3 times, as recently as 2023 at Oak Hill. He excels at difficult courses and Quail Hollow fits the bill. Min Woo Lee (+260) Lee's distance is going to give him a fighting chance to contend, as will his short game around the greens. He's never played Quail Hollow, but it should fit his game well. PGA Championship – Matchups Suggested play is golfer in bold. Ludvig Aberg (+105) vs. Collin Morikawa (-135) Quail Hollow is a course that favors long hitters, which Morikawa is not. As good as his irons are, he'll have some longer shots into these firm greens, putting him at a slight disadvantage compared to someone like Aberg. Hideki Matsuyama (+120) vs. Tommy Fleetwood (-150) Fleetwood shouldn't be this heavily favored over Matsuyama, who came in fifth at this event in 2017 when it was played at Quail Hollow. He's a good driver of the ball and has one of the best short games around. Sepp Straka (+100) vs. Corey Conners (-125) Straka is fresh off a win at the Truist Championship where he edged out Shane Lowry. He's riding momentum into Charlotte and could legitimately contend again this week with the way he's been driving the ball. PGA Championship – Top English Tyrrell Hatton (+300) Fleetwood is the favorite at +250, but Hatton has a good chance to not only be the top Englishman in the field, but potentially even winning. He just needs to avoid blow-up holes and keep his cool. PGA Championship – Top Spanish Jon Rahm (-160) It's a heavily juiced line but you could argue Rahm should be an even bigger favorite. The only other Spaniards in the field are David Puig (+450), Sergio Garcia (+450) and Eugenio Chacarra (+700). Rahm may not be in the form he was during his prime, but he's still by far the best player of this group. PGA Championship – First-round leader Bryson DeChambeau (+2000) DeChambeau led the PGA Championshio in 2023 after shooting 66 in the opening round. He was also the first-round leader at the 2024 Masters and was tied for fifth after Round 1 at Augusta this year. He can go really low when the driver is working. Keith Mitchell (+6600) Mitchell can't be the first-round leader again ... can he? He's already done it 3 times this year, including last week at the Truist Championship. He also finished in the top 10 at Quail Hollow in 2019 and 2021 when playing the Wells Fargo Championship, so his course history is encouraging. Play our free daily Pick'em Challenge and win! Dubai inmates receive over Dh7.6 million in financial aid during 2024

As part of its ongoing commitment to support the wellbeing of inmates, Dubai Police announced that humanitarian aid worth Dh7.6 million was provided to male and female inmates in correctional facilities during 2024. The aid amounting to Dh7,639,626 aims to offer both social and moral support to the prisoners serving sentences. Major General Marwan Abdul Karim Julfar, director of the General Department of Punitive and Correctional Institutions, highlighted that the initiative aligns Dubai Police's broader reform and rehabilitation strategy. This approach focuses on helping inmates rebuild their lives, preparing them for reintegration into society, and promoting values of solidarity and social cohesion within the community. He also commended the vital contributions of civil society organisations, private sector partners, and individual philanthropists, who continuously support these efforts. Their generosity helps ease the burden on inmates, boosts morale, and encourages positive behavioural change. Captain Habib Hussein Mohammed Al Zarouni, head of the Humanitarian Care Department, elaborated on the range of assistance provided. The aid supports a variety of needs, including the settlement of rent debts, financial help for inmate release, support for families, payment of bail, medical assistance, travel expenses, education costs, and other humanitarian initiatives. In addition to financial support, Dubai Police continues to implement programs that enhance the quality of life within correctional facilities. These include educational and vocational training aimed at equipping inmates with the skills needed for employment after release. Such efforts are part of a comprehensive strategy to create a rehabilitative environment focused on both psychological well-being and practical readiness for life beyond prison.

Mazda Drivers Around the World Share Their Photos for 1991

Mazda has been putting on photography contests for images featuring their vehicles for decades now, but I think the entries were more interesting when the photographers were forced to use film cameras. Here's a Mazda magazine advertisement showing the winners of the Mazda Photo Contest '91. There are eight winners from Europe (including one from West Germany who shot an admirably battered Proceed truck), four from the United States, two from Asia, and one from Africa; two of the four American shots are of the recently introduced MX-5 Miata, while the others feature a 626 and an MPV.
