22 Absolutely Iconic Things Jisoo Has Said On Her Recent Press Tour
Jisoo — singer, actor and 1/4 of mega-group BLACKPINK — has just released her debut mini album AMORTAGE, and it's a banger. Almost as good as new music, though, has been the promo cycle, in which Jisoo has given iconic quote after iconic quote. 1. When she said she spends her days off rotting in bed: TEO 테오 / Via 'If I lie down for too long on one side and it gets too hot, I'll move over to the other side and lie down. Then when I feel like I've been in bed too long I go out and move to the couch.' 2. When she explained why she'd be a writer if she wasn't an actor or idol: BuzzFeed / Via "First of all, I like to be alone, quietly. I also like to imagine things." 3. When she refused to lose weight as a trainee: 일일칠 - 117 / Via 'I was told to lose weight but — 'I have to eat. I like being chubby.' My boss told me to lose weight, but I replied like that, and the boss left saying I was really weird. No, I like being chubby.' 4. When she confessed she isn't attracted to funny people: 일일칠 - 117 / Via 'There are those who like fun people. Fun people? I have to be the funny one." 5. And when she revealed why looks don't matter: 'I don't have a preference when it comes to the looks because we all become a skeleton when we die.' 6. When she remembered her obsession with eating paper as a kid: TEO 테오 / Via 'If you chew for a long time, [newspaper] has this distinct flavor…I thought, 'this is delicious'. Then one day at kindergarten, I saw colored paper. So I snuck a piece into my pocket and went to the bathroom. Because if I ate it in front of the teacher, they'd take it away. So in the bathroom I ate it, but it was tasteless. Colored paper is not tasty. It has zero flavor. Then I saw tissue next to me, so I tried eating that too — but the tissue is just plain bad, not just tasteless. After that, I quit eating newspaper tastes good." 7. When she was asked if she'd rather date a friend's ex or be friends with an ex: 8. When she confessed cup noodles help her sing better: 9. And explained just how much she loves spicy food: 10. When she explained that she never gets stressed: TEO 테오 / Via 11. When she explained why exams don't make her nervous: 유인라디오 / Via 'Well, since I know I'll do poorly...I've never been nervous. Because I have no expectations.' 12. And revealed why she hated art class: 'I hated art class the most, because I didn't want to draw weird things.' 13. When she revealed her beef with Anna from Frozen: TEO 테오 / Via 'Why is she like that? I'm glad I don't have a younger sibling. 'Do you want to build a snowman?' She already said she didn't want to play but she's at the door like that.' 14. And her love for Disgust in Inside Out 2: 15. When she revealed she always gets the tea: 16. When she said she watches funny videos when she's feeling down: 유인라디오 / Via 'Even when I'm feeling a bit down, I'm like, 'What is life?' And then I go, 'Oh, am I too down?' And I look for something funny to watch. I laugh alone and almost cry myself to sleep." 17. When she said her instincts are always right: 일일칠 - 117 / Via ''There are times when your instinct is right.' It is not 'there are times.' I live based on my instinct.' 18. When she said the strangest experience as CEO of her own company was when someone asked her if they could get a new computer mouse: 19. When she confessed she spends all her money on in-game purchases: TEO 테오 / Via "I'm not the type to spend tons of money, so when I play, I treat it like an investment. You know how people buy clothes? And some people are like, 'Why waste money on a game?' Well, I buy outfits in games just like people buy clothes in real life." 20. When she explained why New Year's resolutions are pointless: 일일칠 - 117 / Via 'Those who will do it are already doing it…I have never made a plan for the new year.' 21. When she said she doesn't understand her younger self: 22. And when she said she never remembers anything she says:

Jisoo returns with earthquake music video from new mini-album AMORTAGE on Valentine's Day
BLACKPINK's Jisoo has made her highly-anticipated solo return with her mini-album AMORTAGE, released on February 14, 2025. The album features four tracks, with the lead single 'Earthquake' quickly gaining attention for its unique vibe and accompanying music video. In the video, Jisoo portrays an office worker who, despite her dull workday, finds excitement through the unexpected presence of her lover. Unlike her debut solo single, 'Flower,' which leaned more into romantic elegance, 'Earthquake' carries a much stronger, more powerful energy. Jisoo receives a text message from her lover, asking, 'How is your day going?' She begins to respond but is suddenly interrupted as a mysterious figure snatches her phone and places it in an evidence packet, hinting at her lover's potential involvement in something shady. Suddenly, the ordinary office setting transforms, and Jisoo finds herself strapped to a lie detector, answering questions about her true feelings for her lover. When asked about her emotions, she passionately replies, 'he hits me like an earthquake,' describing how he makes her 'heart race.' Just as the intensity peaks, a car crashes into the room, allowing her to reclaim her phone and respond to her lover's message. The scene ends with a twist—everything we've seen was a figment of Jisoo's imagination, a brief fantasy that gives her an exhilarating break from her routine office life. Musically, 'Earthquake' impresses with its groovy beats, Jisoo's powerful vocals, and a catchy, addictive chorus. The track has a similar feel to her 2023 hit, 'Flower,' but brings something fresh and unique, making 'Earthquake' a standout moment in Jisoo's solo journey. The music video is now available to watch online.

Blue Note Jazz Club's London Expansion at Risk Over Fears of Rising Crime
Plans for New York City's iconic Blue Note Jazz Club to expand to the U.K. could be at risk, with London's Metropolitan Police Service expressing fears of a potential 'uptick in crime'. According to The Standard, plans are in place for a 350-seat venue to be established in the basement of the St Martins Lane hotel in Covent Garden. If the application is approved, the venue would be open until 1am, seven days a week. More from Billboard JISOO's Debut Solo Mini-Album 'AMORTAGE' Is Here: Stream It Now Selena Gomez Teams Up With Fiancé Benny Blanco for 'Scared of Loving You,' Announces New Album 'I Said I Love You First' Beyoncé Shares Photos of Destiny's Child Reuniting for Kelly Rowland's Birthday Party However, a Licensing Sub-Committee Report from the City of Westminster has outlined a number of objections from the local police enforcement, who have objected to the venue's construction on the grounds it would undermine the licensing objective of 'prevention of crime and disorder'. Airing their fears at a hearing with the Council on Thursday (Feb. 13), officers claimed that granting the application for the venue would 'expose more people to crime and disorder in the immediate area and further afield'. The report issued by the City of Westminster also included diagrams outlining antisocial behavior, robbery, theft, and violence in the immediate area, with the Metropolitan Police Service stating their belief that the addition of the new venue 'could add to crime, disorder and public nuisance within the immediate area'. 'Police are concerned that if the LSC grant this application within the CIZ [the West End Cumulative Impact Zone], there would be an increase in demand on an already overstretched police service and other emergency services,' the report added, noting that despite their objections, police have however met with the applicant to discuss matters. The report and hearing also included statements from unnamed local residents who shared their concerns and suggestions for the potential venue. These included recommendations that the venue's operating hours be limited to 11pm in order to limit the 'potential for crime and exploitation of vulnerable jazz lovers' 'It is suggested that it is extremely likely that some of the dispersing jazz lovers may be inebriated to a greater [or] lesser extent [or] perhaps slightly disorientated by their emergence in to the cool night air,' one resident wrote. 'They will be immediately vulnerable to the gangs of criminals who already prey on similar groups of people in the Soho area. The 1:00 am exit could become a crime hot spot.' The applicant has however responded to these concerns in the report, noting that a 1am closing time is 'integral to the music scheduling in the basement and the viability of the cultural use' of the venue. If the application for the venue is approved, it would become the latest iteration of the Blue Note Jazz Club to open around the world, and the first in the U.K.. Founded in New York City in 1981, the club has since expanded to other locations throughout the U.S. (including venues in California and Hawaii), and internationally (including Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Milan, Beijing, and Shanghai).
