Two from MP held with mephedrone worth Rs 52L

Ahmedabad: The City Crime Branch on Sunday arrested two persons with 525 g of mephedrone (MD drug) near the AMTS bus stop under the foot overbridge at the Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway. This action was part of a special drive against narcotics by the crime branch. Based on a tip-off, the crime branch team conducted a raid and detained two persons. The seized quantity of mephedrone is valued at Rs 52.5 lakh in the illegal market. Along with the drugs, police also seized two mobile phones worth Rs 10,000, cash, one PAN card, and one Aadhaar card, stated a crime branch release. The arrested accused are identified as Ajay Prajapati (41) and Anandi Damor (41), both residents of Ratlam district in Madhya Pradesh. According to preliminary investigation, a person named Shahrukh, residing in the Vatva area of the city, is believed to be the main operator behind the drug supply. He allegedly sourced the mephedrone from a man named Kalu in Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh. Kalu sent the drug consignments via different couriers using trains from Mandsaur to Vadodara and then through private vehicles to Ahmedabad. The delivery was usually made near the Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway. DCB police registered a case under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against Prajapati and Damor and have launched an investigation to trace Shahrukh and other individuals involved in the drug trafficking network.

New Noire Headphones From Dan Clark Audio Deliver The X Factor

Dan Clark Audio is based in San Diego and describes itself as 'an artisan maker of high-end headphones.' The company's focus is mainly on technical innovation and the brand holds six patents, earning its headphones a global reputation for their sound quality, build and ergonomic design. A particular Dan Clark Audio specialization is closed-back headphones that use planar magnetic drivers that have been engineered to deliver a more open sound. Closed-back headphones may produce less audio leakage and better noise isolation, but their acoustic characteristics tend to make them sound more closed in than a pair of open-back headphones. It's for this reason that open-back headphones are often considered to sound better even if they are less practical to listen to in some environments, especially if there's external noise. However, Dan Clark Audio claims its closed-back headphones do a great job of disproving the rule thanks to unique engineering that produces a more open and spacious sound. The new closed-back Noire X headphones use proprietary planar drivers and metamaterial tuning technologies developed for use in the brand's top-tier headphones like the closed-back Stealth and open-back Expanse, both of which cost more than $4k. The high-end technology in the Noire X headphones is combined with a dramatic black-on-black aesthetic, improved ergonomics and high build quality, including ultra-tough Gorilla Glass 3 on the earcups and a self-tensioning headband. The Noire X headphones have an RRP of $999.99 and their unique mix of attributes walks a line between performance and price. While most headphones use dynamic drivers with a stiff diaphragm and voice coil to produce sound through pistonic movement, the Noire X headphones have planar magnetic drivers. This technology uses a thin membrane in a magnetic field to create sonic vibrations. Among the advantages this technology is increased accuracy, less distortion and an improved soundstage. For the Noire X, Dan Clark Audio has developed an enhanced version of its Aeon planar driver. The new driver has a diaphragm that measures 62 x 34mm and is significantly more rigid than its predecessor while offering superior unit-to-unit consistency, reduced distortion, improved reliability and a smoother frequency response. Extensive R&D investments were made to upgrade other aspects of the driver. New manufacturing processes combined with highly optimized V-Planar knurling deliver a smooth frequency response with low distortion throughout the listening range. The makers claim the Noire X achieve levels of detail that were previously the reserve of the company's top-tier headphones. A critical addition to the Noire X is Dan Clark Audio's proprietary AMTS tuning system, previously found only in the company's top-of-the-line Stealth, Expanse, E3 and Corina models. A significant advance in acoustic engineering for headphones, AMTS uses advanced metamaterial design concepts to shape frequency response and eliminate high-frequency standing waves which cause the synthetic-sounding high frequencies heard with many headphones. By eliminating these standing waves, the Noire X headphones deliver a more balanced, nuanced and airy treble that the designers say is free of the fatiguing artifacts that can spoil the listening experience. A self-tensioning headband on the Noire X reduces listening fatigue by distributing pressure evenly across the listener's head for a 'barely there' fit. Dan Clark Audio says this helps to prevent hot spots and pressure points, making the Noire X ideal for long hours of immersive listening. Aesthetically, the Noire X has a black-on-black finish and detailing on the stitched headband and the new Gorilla Glass 3 finish of the earcups. Gorilla Glass 3 uses a thin sheet of alkali-aluminosilicate to make the glass more scratch and damage-resistant than conventional glass formulations. The headphones have a cool aesthetic completed by the tone-on-tone Noire X logo. The Noire X headphones have newly designed ear pads for more comfortable listening. Formed from improved and ultra-stable memory foam, wrapped in high-quality synthetic leather, the ear pads eradicate foam rolling to ensure a more consistent fit and longer service life. The use of Alcantara synthetic suede on the ear pad contact surface reduces heat and moisture build-up, providing a cool level of comfort during extended listening sessions. The Noire X ear pads are replaceable and backward compatible with Dan Clark Audio's Aeon 2 Noire, AEON RT Closed and AEON 2 Closed headphones. The Noire X can have a comprehensive range of cable terminations, including combo 6.3mm and 3.5mm tips, balanced 4.4mm and 4-pin XLR. For even more flexibility in cable length and terminations, users can upgrade to Dan Clark Audio's premium VIVO cables, which are available in multiple lengths and termination options. The Dan Clark Audio Noire X planar magnetic headphones are available in the U.K. from Electromod while in the U.S. you can buy directly from Dan Clark Audio website. The price is $999.99 / £1,000 inc. VAT.

KEY DATES: The transport strikes to expect in Italy in March 2025

Transport strikes are something of a regular occurrence in Italy, as most months of the year count at least two or three nationwide walkouts. Quite conveniently though, most protests are planned and announced well in advance, with the Italian Transport Ministry listing them on a handy online calendar (available in Italian). This usually gives commuters and international visitors some time to arrange alternative methods of transportation or, when possible, reschedule their journeys. Here's a look at the walkouts that you should know about if you're travelling in Italy in March. March 8th – General strike People travelling to, from or across Italy may face delays and/or cancellations on Saturday, March 8th, as air, rail and public transport services are set to be affected by a general strike. The exact start and end times of the walkout will vary by transport sector. According to information currently displayed on the Transport Ministry website, air transport staff plan to strike for the whole day on Wednesday, whereas rail workers plan to walk out from 9pm on Tuesday, March 7th, to 9pm the following day. The Transport Ministry didn't provide any details regarding the possible start and end times of protests in the local public transport sector. Details on guaranteed transport services are expected to become available closer to the date of the strike. Besides transport services, the strike, which is backed by national unions SLAI-COBAS, USI-CIT and CUB, may also affect healthcare and school services at both public and private institutions around the country. March 10th – Public transport strikes in Catania and Messina Commuters in the Sicilian cities of Catania and Messina may face disruption on Monday, March 10th, as staff at public transport operators AMTS and ATM plan to strike for four hours. AMTS staff in Catania are expected to strike from 12pm to 4pm, whereas ATM workers in Messina are expected to walk out from 4pm to 8pm. Under Italian strike laws, both operators will be required to guarantee the operation of essential services to allow commuters to travel to and from work. Details about such services are expected to be announced closer to the date of the protests. March 16th – National baggage handlers' strike Baggage handlers at airports around Italy are set to take part in a 24-hour walkout on Sunday, March 16th. Workers at Techno Sky, which provides and manages air navigation services at Milan Malpensa, are expected to stage a four-hour walkout (from 12pm to 4pm) on the same date. It's currently unclear whether the walkouts will affect the scheduled departure times of flights headed to or departing from Italy. No flight cancellations have been announced so far. Besides scheduled flights, the protest may also affect ground airport operations including check-in and baggage drop-off or collection services. The national handlers' strike is backed by national transport union FLAI. March 18th-19th – National rail strike Train passengers in Italy are expected to face delays and/or cancellations on March 18th and March 19th as staff at rail operators Trenitalia, Trenitalia Tper, Trenord and Italo plan to take part in a 24-hour strike. The walkout is set to start at 9pm on March 18th and end at 9pm on March 19th, affecting both regional and long-distance trains. The overall level of disruption is expected to vary by region, city and operator, as well as the overall number of workers choosing to take part in the protest. All involved rail operators will be required to provide a minimum level of service for passengers (this is generally made to coincide with peak travel hours). The strike, which is backed by the USB union, was originally meant to be held over the February 22nd-23rd weekend. It was later called off and rescheduled by the USB union after Italy's strike watchdog signed off on a series of urgent measures curbing the protest. How bad are strikes in Italy? Transport strikes in Italy are frequent, but not all of them cause major disruption for passengers. The severity of disruption caused by any walkout in the country largely depends on how many workers choose to participate in it. Generally speaking, nationwide protests backed by one or more major trade unions tend to have a bigger impact, as they represent more workers than smaller regional unions. Even in the case of highly disruptive strikes though, transport operators are legally required to guarantee essential services (servizi essenziali or minimi) at peak travel times. What to do if your flight is cancelled If you're flying to, from or within the EU, you have the right to either a refund or rebooking, and the airline must always offer you the choice. If you're booked onto a later flight and have to wait for more than two hours, you're entitled to assistance such as food and drink. And in the case of cancellations at short notice you may also be able to claim compensation. Find full details here. What to do if your train is cancelled If a pre-booked rail service is cancelled due to strike action in Italy, passengers are normally given the option to travel on an equivalent service or ask for a full refund. Private long-distance operator Italo and state-owned Trenitalia issue refunds automatically within 30 days of the cancelled trip.
