Husband abandons wife held in Semporna house raid SEMPORNA: A man abandoned his wife during a police drug raid on a house at Kampung Sejati 2, here, on Wednesday. The drugs seized weighed more than one kilogramme and estimated worth RM34,755.50. Advertisement Sabah General Operation Force (GOF) Commander, Datuk Abdul Rani Alias, said acting on intelligence, a team of GOF raided a squatter house in the area. 'In the 7am operation, the man escaped from the kitchen window while his wife was detained for further investigation. SPONSORED CONTENT 'During the raid, the team discovered several plastic packets containing substance believed to be syabu which were hidden between the wall and cupboard inside the house,' he said. Urine test conducted on the woman found negative for drug abuse. Advertisement He said the suspect and the seizures were handed over to Semporna Narcotic Crime Investigation Division and investigation is carried out under the Dangerous Drug Act 1952. Abdul Rani added that efforts to track down the suspect who escaped during the operation is still ongoing.

SEMPORNA: The General Operation Force (GOF) detained a local man and seized 5,270kg of packet cooking oil in an operation on Wednesday. The items worth RM15,675 were seized in the 'Ops Bersepadu Intra/Inter Agensi Op Taring Bravo 2' conducted by the Intelligence Unit/Task Force of Kunak 22nd Battalion and Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) at Kampung Seri Melor. Sabah GOF Commander Datuk Abdul Rani Alias said acting on intelligence, the team raided a house in the village and found 310 boxes containing 5,720 packets of 1kg cooking oil. A local man was detained to assist in investigation as he failed to produce documents proving ownership or storing the subsidised items. Preliminary investigation revealed that the subsidized items were supplied by individual(s) from other district and the suspect was believed involved in buying and selling the items since early 2025, he said. Rani said investigation is ongoing under the Control of Supplies Act 1961. The operation, conducted under "Ops Taring Bravo 2" by the General Operations Force (GOF) Kunak 22nd Battalion and the Domestic Trade Ministry (KPDN), uncovered 310 boxes containing 1kg oil packets. GOF Sabah Commander Datuk Abdul Rani Alias said the man failed to show documents for the items, believed to have been sourced from another district. Petrol, beauty products seized in Semporna raids

SEMPORNA: Two individuals were detained and goods worth RM177,000 were seized during anti-smuggling operations at two separate locations here on Tuesday. The joint operation under Op Taring Dosej involved the General Operations Force (GOF), the police, Customs, KPDN, and the Sabah Ports and Harbours Department. Sabah GOF Commander Datuk Abdul Rani Alias said a foreign man was arrested during the first raid at Kampung Mesra, where barrels of petrol and a wooden boat were found, believed to be linked to cross-border smuggling. In a second raid, a woman was caught with a four-wheel drive loaded with untaxed beauty products valued at RM125,000, which she admitted were smuggled in from a neighbouring country. Sabah GOF seizes RM25.7 million worth of smuggled goods in April raids

LAHAD DATU: The General Operations Force (GOF) detained 81 individuals and seized RM25.7 million worth of smuggled goods in 35 raids across Sabah in April. Sabah GOF Commander Datuk Abdul Rani Alias said those detained included locals and foreign nationals from the Philippines, China, Pakistan, and Indonesia. Items seized included contraband cigarettes, crude palm oil (CPO), frozen food without halal or import certification, and other smuggled goods. Among the largest busts was the seizure of over 104 tonnes of unlicensed CPO worth RM2.09 million and 3.096 million sticks of illicit cigarettes valued at RM9.3 million including tax.
