By: Azmie Lim Text Size: SEMPORNA: A local man was detained and 5,270kg of subsidised cooking oil worth RM15,675 seized during a raid in Kampung Seri Melor on Wednesday. The operation, conducted under "Ops Taring Bravo 2" by the General Operations Force (GOF) Kunak 22nd Battalion and the Domestic Trade Ministry (KPDN), uncovered 310 boxes containing 1kg oil packets. GOF Sabah Commander Datuk Abdul Rani Alias said the man failed to show documents for the items, believed to have been sourced from another district. He is suspected of trading in subsidised goods since early 2025.

District police chief Supt Noraidin Ag Maidin said the Yamaha 15ZR ridden from Kota Kinabalu towards Tuaran collided with the rear side of a Perodua Alza at 5.55am before hitting a concrete barrier. Advertisement Mohd Azli suffered severe head and body injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, while his 26-year-old pillion rider from Lawas, who was not wearing a helmet, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Tuaran Hospital. The Alza driver, 50, was unhurt. The commission said the man was the owner of a TikTok account impersonating a pathologist, who claimed to have been involved in the autopsy. Advertisement It said the suspect was tracked down in Kota Damansara late last night after the commission recorded the statements of two other persons who were with the suspect in a livestream held by the TikTok account. Kuala Lumpur: A witness in Lim Guan Eng's undersea tunnel trial told the sessions court today that he was unable to testify, citing trauma after being attacked by 10 men in an armed robbery earlier this month. Businessman G Gnanaraja said he was still recovering from the incident. Advertisement 'I am still traumatised. It is not that I don't want to cooperate (with the court), but I want to ensure my safety first,' he said. Trial judge Azura Alwi said it was the duty of the police and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to do everything in their power to ensure Gnanaraja's safety. Deputy public prosecutor Mahadi Abdul Jumaat then told the court that as Gnanaraja was not mentally fit, they would call investigating officer Zulhilmi Ramli as the next witness. The hearing continues on Aug 27. Lim is standing trial on charges of using his position as then Penang chief minister to ask Zarul Ahmad Zulkifli for a 10% cut of the profits from the undersea tunnel project and accepting a total of RM3.3 million in kickbacks between 2011 and 2017 from the businessman. He is also accused of two counts of dishonestly misappropriating RM208.7 million worth of state land. On Aug 7, Gnanaraja, a key witness in the trial, suffered injuries to his face and hand after being attacked by 10 men at his home.
