Railways organises exhibition showcasing partition horrors

1 2 Patna: Danapur division of the East Central Railway (ECR) organised a special photo exhibition on the occasion of 'Partition Horrors Remembrance Day' at the Danapur station premises. Danapur divisional railway manager (DRM) Vinod Kumar inaugurated the exhibition on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, the DRM recalled that while India attained Independence on August 15, 1947, after 200 years of colonial rule, it also endured the immense tragedy of the partition. "The night of August 14, 1947 marked the beginning of mass displacement, with millions rendered homeless and separated from their families. Homes, farmlands and livelihoods were lost and countless lives perished," he said. "Remembering this grief, the country observed 'Partition Horrors Remembrance Day' every year on August 14, a day before Independence Day, to honour those who suffered and to remind future generations of the value of unity and brotherhood," the DRM said, adding that the railways had transported nearly seven lakh refugees during the partition between August 15 and September 8, 1947 through passenger and goods trains. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like If You Eat Ginger Everyday for 1 Month This is What Happens Tips and Tricks Undo According to Danapur senior divisional commercial manager Abhinav Siddarth, the exhibition was put on display with an aim to educate the youth about the pain, displacement and human tragedy of the partition while inspiring the values of mutual love, harmony and compassion also. Railways gears up to manage pilgrim rush at stations during Shrawan

Patna: As pilgrims have started pouring in groups at Patna Junction and other key stations during the holy month of Shrawan, Danapur division of the East Central Railway (ECR) has rolled out a comprehensive contingency plan to manage the expected surge in footfall at these stations. According to Danapur divisional railway manager (DRM), Jayant Kumar Choudhary, the railways has taken steps to ensure smooth operations and the safety of passengers. A large number of additional railway officials have been deployed at the Patna Junction to monitor the crowd, he said, adding that CCTV cameras are fully operational on all platforms allowing real-time surveillance of the station premises. In addition, a dedicated control room has been set up at the Patna Junction to oversee and regulate pilgrim movement, particularly during peak hours. The railway officials have been tasked to coordinate closely with other departments to avoid congestion and ensure quick response in case of any emergency, the DRM said. To bolster security, railway protection force (RPF) personnel have been directed to keep a close watch on suspicious activities and potential miscreants. Passengers' luggage is being screened using advanced scanning machines at entry points at the Patna Junction to prevent any security lapses, the DRM said, adding Rajendra Nagar Terminal, Patliputra Junction and Danapur stations have also been put under close surveillance. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Zunido no ouvido? Rlys, PMC carry out cleaning drive at Patna Jn

Patna: With heavy rain lashing the city on Monday night, and forecast of further rainfall over the next few days, the railways, in coordination with Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC), carried out a massive cleaning drive on the premises of Patna Junction — one of the busiest railway stations in Bihar — on Tuesday. Patna Junction, with a daily footfall of nearly two to three lakh passengers, has been grappling with chronic waterlogging issue, particularly in its circulating area from the Mahavir temple side, while the problem becomes acute during monsoon, causing much hardships for passengers. The root of the issue has been identified as clogged underground drainage systems, which have repeatedly failed to cope with the seasonal rains. Passengers have long complained about wading through ankle-deep water and navigating slippery platforms, raising concerns about safety and sanitation, railway sources said. According to Danapur senior divisional commercial manager Abhinav Siddarth, the joint operation of railways and PMC focused on desilting the underground drains and clearing out garbage and debris that had been blocking the water flow from the station premises. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo He added the cleaning drive was essential to prevent waterlogging and maintain hygiene, particularly when a month-long Shrawani mela would begin this month. 25% surge in unreserved ticket sales in June: Rlys

1 2 3 4 5 6 Patna: An intensive ticket-checking drive conducted across the Danapur division of the East Central Railway (ECR) in June has begun to show results, leading to a 25% surge in ticket sales through the Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) in the month. According to Danapur divisional railway manager (DRM) Jayant Kumar Choudhary, the intensified ticket-checking drive conducted during June led to the penalisation of 51,644 passengers who were found travelling without valid tickets. The crackdown resulted in the collection of fines amounting to Rs 3.50 lakh, he said. "The objective behind the drive was not just to penalise offenders, but to instil a sense of responsibility among daily commuters and casual passengers. This has evidently led to an increase in the number of passengers purchasing proper tickets before boarding either long-distance or short-distance passenger trains in the division," the DRM said. Danapur senior divisional commercial manager (Senior DCM), Abhinav Siddarth, said on Monday the railways has already introduced the UTS mobile app and automatic ticket vending machines (ATVM) across major stations of the division to reduce congestion at general ticket booking counters. These digital facilities allow passengers to conveniently purchase unreserved tickets without standing in long queues, he said. Similar inspection drives will continue in the future, he said.
