Panthers WR Adam Thielen gives his early impression of Tetairoa McMillan: 'He's that guy'

Panthers WR Adam Thielen gives his early impression of Tetairoa McMillan: 'He's that guy' Carolina Panthers wideout Adam Thielen seems to believe that his team's latest first-round pick has the goods. Thielen recently spoke about fellow receiver and new teammate Tetairoa McMillan, the eighth overall selection of the 2025 NFL draft. And the 34-year-old veteran, per Kassidy Hill of is already liking what he's seeing from the 22-year-old rookie. "He's a big long receiver that has phenomenal body control and can make contested catches and can play a lot of different spots," Thielen said, "which in this league, in my opinion, to be a great receiver in this league, you have to be able to play in the slot, you have to be able to play outside, you have to be able to run a lot of different routes and make contested catches. "So, from the little I've seen, he's that guy. It only benefits everyone else because if he can move around, I can move around, you know, Jalen Coker can move around, Xavier Legette can move around." McMillan saw plenty of volume at the University of Arizona. The 6-foot-4, 219-pounder, between the 2023 and 2024 campaigns, totaled 174 catches for 2,721 yards and 18 touchdowns. Thielen has also been the go-to weapon for his offense over the last two seasons. Since coming to Carolina in 2023, the two-time Pro Bowler has led the Panthers in targets (199), receptions (151), receiving yards (1,629) and receiving touchdowns (nine). But with Thielen entering the final year of his contract, and perhaps the final year of his NFL career, his time as Carolina's No. 1 pass catcher could be coming to an end. And if it is, then at least he may have a worthy successor to pass that torch to. Follow @ThePanthersWire on Twitter/X for more Panthers content.

New Panthers' player catches everyone's attention with praise for veteran

In the heart of west Charlotte, while swinging hammers and hauling lumber, Christian Rozeboom wasn't just building homes—he was helping build hope. The Carolina Panthers linebacker, newly arrived this offseason, spent part of his Keep Pounding Day lending a hand in Habitat for Humanity's mission, a gesture that mirrors the grit and humility that brought him to the NFL in the first place. Rozeboom, a former undrafted free agent out of South Dakota State, understands what it means to fight for a roster spot. And while he's only been a Panther for a few weeks, there's one teammate he's always kept an eye on: veteran receiver Adam Thielen. 'I mean just unreal story that you could talk about for a long time too… I think just how you treat people and I see that already just meeting Adam for two weeks now—how he treats people is in seconds and getting to know everybody around and it's been really cool to see.' Advertisement Thielen, who signed with Carolina in 2023 after nearly a decade in Minnesota, posted 615 receiving yards, and 5 touchdowns last season, while only playing in ten games due to injury. To Rozeboom, that stat line is just part of what makes Thielen stand out. It's the off-field presence, the quiet leadership, and the way he greets every trainer, coach, and teammate that truly resonates. That mindset has not only kept Rozeboom in the league, but is now helping him shape the Panthers locker room and the Charlotte community alike. Thielen is a highly respected golfer who discussed this year's crop of NFL talent competing in last year's American Century Championship at Lake Tahoe. He also gave his unique take on Patrick Mahomes' passion for golf. "He and many guys in the NFL love to play the game," Thielen said of Mahomes. Vikings and Minnesota legend ready for next step of his career

Vikings and Minnesota legend ready for next step of his career When the 2025 NFL season kicks off, it will mark the third season since Adam Thielen has donned the purple and gold of the Minnesota Vikings. Thielen started his career with the Vikings and quickly made a name for himself, going from an undrafted free agent to a fan favorite and promptly becoming the team's top option prior to the addition of star Justin Jefferson. In his prime, Thielen was as reliable a receiver for the Vikings as you'll find in the NFL, notching back-to-back seasons of 1,200+ yards and being named to two Pro Bowls in 2017 and 2018. Even after adding Jefferson, Thielen gave the team a great complement at the position before moving on to the Carolina Panthers after the 2022 season. Thielen has topped 1,000 yards once in two seasons with Carolina and has caught nine touchdowns, as he winds down his playing career. His 1,014 yards in 2023, his first with the Panthers, made him one of only eight receivers all-time to have a 1,000-yard season at age 33 or older. Now, entering the final season of his contract and turning 35 before the season starts, Thielen is aware that his days in the NFL are numbered and that he's been preparing for a change. In a recent interview with Joe Person of The Athletic, Thielen acknowledged that this season could be his final season in the NFL, saying: It could be, yeah... I told you guys at the end of the season, like every year, you look back and you say what left do I have to give to this game? I talked to my family, and they wanted me to keep playing. So it'll be the same process. I'm not gonna think about that right now. Currently, Thielen has no plans to retire, but he is heading into the season as the oldest active receiver in the NFL and on an expiring contract. If he doesn't land with another team after the 2025 season, that may be where he and his family decide that the end has come. Thielen has been heavily rumored for a reunion with the Vikings in the past, and that could be a destination for him after the end of the season, but only time will tell. In the meantime, the former Vikings fan-favorite is preparing for his twelfth season in the league and looking at providing a mentorship role for the Panthers' first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, wide receiver Tetairoa McMillian.

Panthers receiver Adam Thielen hints at retirement after 2025: ‘Winding down'

Panthers wide receiver Adam Thielen will be back on the field for the 2025 season, but the 35-year-old did suggest that the beginning of the end could be near. I talked to my family, and they wanted me to keep playing. So it'll be the same process.' Thielen has played 10 years in the NFL, eight of which were spent with the Vikings and the past two with the Panthers. Advertisement The Vikings had signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2013 and worked his way up off the practice squad and into a spot on the 52-man roster. Two of his best seasons came during the 2017 and 2018 campaigns when he posted over 1,200 receiving yards and earned a trip to the Pro Bowl both of those years. The Vikings released Thielen in 2023, and he ended up signing a deal with the Panthers, for which he recorded 1,014 receiving yards in his first season with Carolina. I'm gonna focus on being the best football player I can possibly be, and you have to have that mindset in this league,' said Thielen, who is entering the final year of his contract. 'And then once the season's over — evaluate, see where we're at, see where the team's at, see where I'm at individually and as a family and figure it out. But definitely, definitely winding down my career. But excited about this year and what could happen.'
