Saudi Gazette report NEW YORK — The Saudi Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dr. Abdul Aziz Al-Wasel underlined the need to put an end to Israeli violations in Syria and the region. Addressing a session on Syria at the United Nations Security Council, Al-Wasel reiterated his country's condemnation of the Israeli incursion into the Syrian territory. He affirmed Saudi Arabia's support for the aspirations of the Syrian people. "Saudi Arabia and Qatar supported Syria by providing salaries so as to enable the vital government sectors to function," he said. Saudi Arabia earlier rejected categorically Israeli attacks targeting Syria's sovereignty, security, and stability. It emphasized the need to "put an end to the blatant Israeli violations of international law in Syria and the region." Saudi Arabia warned that the continuation of these violations and extremist Israeli policies exacerbates the risks of violence, extremism, and regional instability.

RIYADH: The Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission has inaugurated Saudi Arabia's pavilion at the 2025 Muscat International Book Fair, which is running until May 3. Abdullatif Al-Wasel, CEO of the commission, in a statement, said of the event which started on Thursday: 'The Saudi participation reflects the deep cultural bonds between Saudi Arabia and Oman. 'The commission seeks to strengthen collaboration in literature, publishing and translation fields, highlighting the cultural vitality and knowledge advancement flourishing in both nations.' Al-Wasel said the fair creates significant opportunities for the book industry by connecting Saudi Arabia's publishers with their international counterparts. The participants at the fair include the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language, King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives, and the King Abdulaziz Public Library. Also present are the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Holy Qur'an, the Publishing Association, and Taibah University. The participation aligns with Saudi Arabia's efforts to enhance cultural ties with Oman while promoting cultural-sector investment opportunities, Al-Wasel stated. The Kingdom's pavilion will feature a program of literary seminars, panel discussions, and poetry evenings featuring prominent Saudi Arabia intellectuals and writers.

The session 'discussed preparations for the upcoming high-level international conference on the peaceful resolution of the Palestinian cause and the implementation of the two-state solution, which is scheduled to be held in June under the joint chairmanship of Saudi Arabia and France,' the SPA stated. In his remarks, Al-Wasel stressed that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state is the 'cornerstone for achieving security and stability in the region,' adding that the Kingdom's support for the two-state solution is a 'longstanding and unwavering position.' Al-Wasel also announced the formation of several working groups to address key issues related to the peaceful settlement of the conflict. He called on member states to contribute their visions and proposals to support preparations for June's conference. Al-Wasel noted that the conference represents 'a formal and comprehensive track to enhance international efforts aimed at reaching a just and lasting resolution.' Most UN member states and observer delegations from regional blocs expressed full support for the efforts led by Saudi Arabia and France to organize the conference and reaffirmed their commitment to the two-state solution as the only internationally agreed-upon formula to resolve the conflict, stressing the need for tangible outcomes, including the recognition of a Palestinian state.
