YouTuber booked for bike stunt near Pangong Lake in Ladakh: 'Why are you destroying nature?'

A popular YouTuber has found himself in hot water after videos and photos of him riding superbikes and performing dangerous stunts in ecologically sensitive areas of Ladakh went viral on social media. Ali Aalyan Iqbal, a content creator with over 2.5 million YouTube subscribers and 428,000 Instagram followers, has been booked under Sections 125 and 292 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023. He is accused of riding recklessly near Pangong Lake and the Nubra sand dunes -both protected zones due to their fragile ecosystems. The Leh District Police posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, saying, 'A domestic tourist was booked U/S 125 & 292 of BNS 2023 for dangerously riding a bike in restricted zones of Pangong Lake and Nubra sand dunes, endangering Ladakh's fragile ecosystem. Visitors are urged to respect local laws to protect Ladakh's fragile ecosystem.' Screengrab from the post. Ali, who describes himself as a rider, bodybuilder and boxer in his Instagram bio, had shared photos and videos of his Ladakh trip on his social media accounts. His actions drew sharp criticism online, with many accusing him of encouraging irresponsible tourism. One Instagram user wrote, 'Because of people like you, others can't peacefully enjoy tourist places. If you're so passionate about taking your bike into the water, come with me, I'll show you proper water crossings in Ladakh. But don't do things like this.' Another user commented, 'Why are you destroying nature.' Ladakh, renowned for its breathtaking but fragile landscapes, has been under increasing strain due to rising tourist activity. Authorities and environmental groups have repeatedly appealed to visitors to stick to designated routes and keep away from protected areas.

YouTuber Ali Aalyan Iqbal's bike stunts in Ladakh's fragile zones draw police action and netizens' fury: ‘Larger the muscles, lower the IQ'

A popular YouTuber, known for his high-octane content, is now facing backlash –– not for his stunts alone, but for where he chose to pull them off. Ali Aalyan Iqbal, who has nearly 500,000 Instagram followers, has landed in trouble for performing bike stunts in environmentally sensitive areas of Ladakh. A post shared by Ali Aalyan Iqbal (@aalyan_.01) Iqbal was recently booked by the Leh Police for riding his superbike recklessly near Pangong Lake and on the sand dunes of Nubra Valley –– zones that are not just picturesque but ecologically fragile. The charges were filed under Sections 125 and 292 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, dealing with endangering human life and public nuisance. In videos that he posted himself, Iqbal is seen shirtless, doing headstands on his superbike, revving through the dunes, and even getting stuck in the sand while kicking up plumes of dust, all of which quickly went viral. But the Internet's reaction was anything but celebratory. A post shared by Ali Aalyan Iqbal (@aalyan_.01) The posts went viral and netizens reacted to it in the comments. 'This clearly shows how this kind of people destroy the fragile environment of Ladakh,' one user commented. Another wrote, 'The larger the muscles, the lower the I.Q.' A third viewer said, 'Don't spoil our environment, you are not welcome here in Ladakh for your showoff.' A fourth person commented, 'Apart from the fine, these videos should not be allowed to be uploaded on any social media platform. Paying penalties does not make a difference to them.' Authorities have made it clear that such behaviour won't be tolerated in the region. Just weeks ago, a couple from Jaipur faced similar action after driving their SUV across the protected sand dunes of Hunder in Nubra Valley. They were fined and made to sign a bond of Rs 50,000.

YouTuber booked for bike stunts in Ladakh; Police: Fragile zones not for viral content

A popular YouTuber with millions of followers is under fire, not for pushing boundaries in content creation, but for literally pushing his superbikes through some of India's most ecologically sensitive terrain. Ali Aalyan Iqbal, who boasts 2.74 million subscribers on YouTube and nearly half a million followers on Instagram, has been booked for performing dangerous stunts in restricted zones around Ladakh's Pangong Lake and the Nubra sand dunes, regions known not just for their beauty but for their delicate ecosystems. The Leh Police confirmed action against Iqbal under Sections 125 and 292 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, the former for endangering life and the latter for public nuisance. 'A domestic tourist was booked... for dangerously riding a bike in restricted zones... endangering Ladakh's fragile ecosystem,' the police said in a post on X. The damage caused by such stunts goes beyond the viral moment; it scars landscapes that are meant to be protected. Why this matters: Influencers like Iqbal command large audiences, many of them young and impressionable. When they flaunt disregard for environmental norms in the name of content, they normalize reckless behavior and endanger the very places they claim to celebrate.
