House builder releases starter homes designed for first time buyers

A new part of the development at Caskieberran in Glenrothes features starter homes for couples and young families. The latest Scottish Housing Market Review has revealed that the number of mortgages advanced to first-time buyers in Scotland rose annually by 17.0% in 2024-25. Research among those looking for a home has revealed that Glenrothes in Fife is the most popular affordable town in the UK for those looking to buy a family home. The data coincides with the launch of Allanwater Homes' development in Glenrothes. The recently released three-bedroom Cowal offers buyers a sustainable, EPC B rated home, with dual thermostatic heating with low running costs, alongside PV solar panels. Internally, the homes will have Porcelanosa tiling in the bathrooms and ensuite, and a fitted kitchen chosen from a wide range of colours and styles. Lauren McNair, Development Sales Manager for Allanwater Homes, said: 'The latest market insights certainly demonstrate a positive turn in the market, with more first-time buyers accessing greater lending in the last twelve months than the previous year. 'Our Caskieberran development is situated in the heart of Fife, with our starter three-bedroom homes appealing to young professionals and families wanting to remain within commuting distance from Edinburgh. We are excited to launch our latest homes, which will bring much-needed new housing to the town.' Available in a choice of end terraced, mid terraced and semi-detached versions, the Cowal villa offers a spacious lounge, fully integrated kitchen/dining room, and three bedrooms, including principal bedroom en-suite. Selected Cowal properties are available with allocated parking spaces, whilst others feature south west facing gardens. The Cowal is available from £230,706. Allanwater Homes has facilitated a partnership with local Genrothes based Estate Agency, First for Homes Allan England team, who are handling initial enquiries and viewings for the Caskieberran development. New show home open this weekend

Allanwater Homes has officially launched sales at its Caskieberran development in Glenrothes, with a collection of energy-efficient apartments and family homes for sale at a time when new housing supply in Fife is constrained. Located to the south of the Glenwood Roundabout, the current release at Allanwater Caskieberran offers the three bedroom semi-detached Cowal villa, a housetype developed specifically for this area. Priced from £232,702, the Cowal is designed for modern living, featuring a large lounge and a fully integrated kitchen/dining room with French Doors leading through to the garden. Bedrooms one and two have fitted wardrobes. All properties at Caskieberran have PV solar panels as standard, along with low-carbon heating systems, and an EPC rating of B as standard. New CGI visuals released this week of the Cowal, together with the range of apartments that are also being constructed at Allanwater Caskieberran, highlight the development's high-quality design and landscaped surroundings, which include communal green space and off-street parking. Each home is finished with Allanwater's signature specification, which includes Porcelanosa tiling, USB sockets and thermostatic rainfall showers in en-suite bathrooms. The launch comes amid wider supply challenges in Scotland. According to industry reports, new-build completions in 2023–24 dropped to their lowest level since 2018, while build-to-rent construction declined by 26 per cent. In Fife, demand for new homes remains strongest in the mid-market price range – yet fewer than 1,500 properties were sold in Q1 2025, highlighting the need for more homes like those at Caskieberran. Lauren McNair, Development Sales Manager for Allanwater Homes, said: 'We're delivering high-specification homes in Glenrothes that are affordable, sustainable and ready to meet the real needs of buyers today. There's a clear demand for energy-efficient homes that offer space, style and long-term value – and that's exactly what Caskieberran is designed to provide. It's not just about building houses, it's about contributing to a community that people are proud to be part of.' Allanwater Homes has partnered with local Genrothes based Estate Agency, First for Homes Allan England team, who are handling initial enquiries and viewings for the Caskieberran development. Housebuilder sponsors local team with new strips

The housebuilder has continued to provide valuable sponsorship support to the Saints, which has squads born from 2010 to 2019, since 2018. During this time, it has donated both strips and branded backpacks to the children. Currently selling from Phase Nine at Oaktree Gardens, Allanwater Homes is now celebrating a two decade legacy in the wee County town, and continues to make a positive impact on community life, through sponsorship and involvement in local community initiatives, such as the Alloa Food Bank. Paul Robertson, Chairman of the Alloa Saints, expressed his gratitude to Allanwater Homes, by saying: 'Having a regular committed sponsor and board takes away the uncertainty of not knowing how new kit will be provided. Allanwater Homes continuing support has gone above and beyond what we could ever have hoped for.' 'We had a great season last year, our 22nd successful year since the club was founded. We continue to grow and attract more local youngsters to play football, keep fit and have fun.' Paul finished by saying that the Saints had raised funds for themselves by carrying out a series of fundraising walks throughout May, raising in excess of £4000, and were now looking forward to the Alan McGillivray Memorial Football Festival, taking place on the 21st and 22nd of June and 9/10 August. In all, the Club expect to see in excess of 140 teams descend on West End Park during the four day festival which is sponsored by local company, Sports Markings Scotland, who will be marking out all the pitches for the event. The Club are looking forward to raising funds over the four days for two great charities, Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland, and Forth Valley First responders. Lauren McNair, Development Sales Manager at Oaktree Gardens, said: 'It was our pleasure to welcome Paul and the Alloa Saints to Oaktree Gardens. The strips look fantastic, with the children wearing them with pride. The sponsorship of the Alloa Saints is one of our longest running initiatives, and we are delighted to see the club flourish and grow.' 'We're looking forward to a very busy summer, with plans afoot to hold a Community Event at Oaktree Gardens in August. We want to celebrate our twenty years here, and continue to attract many more local families to settle here.' 'We're proud of the community that's taken root at Oaktree Gardens over the past 20 years. With our latest phase now under way, we look forward to welcoming even more families to this vibrant part of Alloa.' Based in Tillicoultry, the team began with just six players attending their first training session. Today, they've grown to more than 35 registered players and have launched a thriving junior section for girls aged 12 and over. Thanks to Allanwater's ongoing support, the senior team has unveiled a brand-new kit – their second strip to feature the Allanwater Homes name. The partnership first began last year when funding helped the club order its very first playing kit. Their sponsorship has helped us take real strides, both on and off the pitch. The Hillfoot Vixens are pictured with Allanwater Homes Sales Manager, Lauren McNair. 'Our first competitive season exceeded all expectations – finishing fifth in our league and second in the Women's National Plate competition. We've also been working hard to raise funds for vital upgrades to our clubhouse, which was badly damaged during the winter storms. It's been inspiring to see the whole team get involved in events like our 5k-a-day fundraiser.' The junior section has also seen growing momentum, with players participating in their first competitive matches and hosting evolution events which drew over 100 girls from across the region. 'The Junior Vixens are gaining confidence and experience with every game,' added Christina. 'It's brilliant to see so many girls discovering the sport and enjoying it.'
