Reinier Jesus to train with Real Madrid's reserve team amidst uncertainty over future

Real Madrid midfielder Reinier Jesus will train with the club's reserve team, Real Madrid Castilla, amidst uncertainty over his future at the club. Reinier joined Madrid in 2020 for €30million (£26.1m; $35.1m) but has never made an appearance for the first team and has had four separate loan spells. Advertisement The 23-year-old has attracted interest from clubs in Brazil, including former club Flamengo. Reinier's contract runs until June 2026, with talks between the club and player's side expected to take place this month to resolve his future. He is not expected to be counted on by Castilla head coach Alvaro Arbeloa this season. Arbeloa took up the role in May after the departure of Raul, who had wanted to keep Reinier ahead of his loan move to Granada last season. Reinier played in the academies of Vasco de Gama, Botafogo and Fluminense before joining Flamengo in 2014, making his senior debut with the club as a 17-year-old in 2019. He was subject to interest from Manchester City and other English clubs, as well as Atletico Madrid, though Madrid won the race for his signature in January 2020, paying his €30m release clause. 80 per cent of the fee went to Flamengo, 10 per cent to the player's family and the remaining 10 per cent went to the player's agent. Reinier signed a six-year contract in the Spanish capital and made three appearances for Castilla, scoring twice. He joined Borussia Dortmund on a two-year loan deal in August 2020, with the German club paying a €5m loan fee. He appeared 39 times for Dortmund, scoring once and providing one assist. Loan spells at La Liga side Girona in the 2022-23 season and at Italian team Frosinone in 2023-24 followed, before Granada in Spanish second tier in August last year, where he featured in 25 games and provided four assists. Reinier was capped by Brazil at under-17 level and represented the nation at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, winning a gold medal. (Ion)

Real Madrid star exiled from squad ahead of imminent exit

Real Madrid are focusing on sales after four first team signings, and a number of players on the chopping block. Rodrygo Goes has been heavily linked with a departure in recent weeks, and one of his fellow Brazilians is even closer to the exit door. The arrivals of Dean Huijsen, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Franco Mastantuono and Alvaro Carreras mean that Real Madrid have 25 first team players, which is the maximum number that can be registered with La Liga. As such, sales are needed before anyone else can join, and while this is being focused on, there are players outwith the senior squad that are being moved on. Alvaro Rodriguez, Jacobo Ramon and Mario Martin are among the players to have left/are about to leave, and soon, Real Madrid will hope that Reinier Jesus joins them. Image via Diario AS Reinier has had a disastrous time of things since joining Real Madrid in 2020. He has yet to make a single appearance for the first team, having failed to make a significant impact during loan spells at a number of clubs, including Borussia Dortmund, Girona and Frosinone. He was at Granada last season, but again, failed to impress. As such, Real Madrid are seeking another move for Reinier, whom they have even considered seeking a mutual contract termination with. Reinier trains away from Real Madrid Castilla teammates Real Madrid Castilla are not even counting on Reinier, with that decision having been made by new head coach Alvaro Arbeloa. As a result, he is training alone at Valdebebas, as confirmed by Marca (via ED). Reinier's hellish Real Madrid spell will almost certainly come to an end this summer, but at 23, he still has plenty of time to resurrect his career. But for the time being, he remains as a Los Blancos player, although his mind will be on securing a move away.

Real Madrid begin talks to renew teenager Jesus Fortea's contract

Real Madrid have opened talks to renew teenage defender Jesus Fortea's contract. Following Alvaro Arbeloa's promotion to coach Real Madrid Castilla (the club's reserve team), both parties are now keen to extend the 18-year-old's deal. Fortea's situation has changed after doubts around his future saw him not called up to former first team manager Carlo Ancelotti's first team last season or former Castilla manager Raul's side. Advertisement The Spaniard was overlooked despite Dani Carvajal having been ruled out with a serious knee injury earlier in the season and his deputy and Lucas Vazquez struggling at times in that position, with Ancelotti favoring to play Federico Valverde at right-back over the teenager. A highly rated full-back, Real Madrid broke the 'non-aggression' pact with Atletico Madrid at academy level to sign him in 2022. Arbeloa replacing Raul is said to be key in the new negotiations. It is expected that Fortea will be part of the new first team manager Xabi Alonso's Club World Cup squad. Fortea made 14 appearances in all competitions for Real's reserve team laswt season, scoring two goals and providing three assists in eight UEFA Youth Legaue games.

Former Real Madrid defender Arbeloa takes over as "B" team coach

Associated Press MADRID (AP) — Former defender Alvaro Arbeloa is replacing Raul González as coach of Real Madrid's 'B' team, the club said Wednesday. Madrid announced that Arbeloa was taking over, one day after former star Raúl said he was leaving after seven years coaching in the youth academy. 'Arbeloa is a legend at Real Madrid and in Spanish football, and one of our club's most iconic homegrown players,' Madrid said. 'Arbeloa has always been an exemplary representative of our club's values and has passed these on during his time as coach of our youth teams.' Arbeloa had been coaching Madrid's youth squads since 2020. With the under-19s he won the treble in 2022-23 — the Champions League, Spanish league and Copa del Rey. The former right back came through Madrid's youth squads and played 238 matches with the first team between 2009 and 2016. In his seven seasons, Arbeloa helped Madrid win two Champions Leagues, one Club World Cup, one European Super Cup, one Spanish Super Cup, one Spanish league and two Copas del Rey. He made 56 appearances for Spain, helping it win the 2010 World Cup and the 2008 and 2012 European Championships. Arbeloa joined Madrid's first team from Liverpool, where he played 98 matches in three seasons. ___ AP soccer: in this topic
