Amit Trivedi at his concert: I am an accidental singer
Amit Trivedi Amit Trivedi lit up his Sunday concert in Mumbai with an energetic performance at the Music For A Cause concert, raising funds for cancer patients. Opening with Namo Namo, Amit took the packed auditorium on a rollercoaster ride of chartbusters, from Jaikal Mahakal, Manja, Zinda, to Andhadhun, Naina Da Kya Kasoor, and Tai Tai Phiss. But the night was more than just a setlist, it was a homecoming. 'I have so many memories here,' said an emotional Amit, as he recalled his early days as a musician seated in the audience. 'I've seen some amazing artistes here and learned so much. To now stand on this very stage, it feels like life has come full circle. I'm honored to perform for such a noble cause and raise funds for cancer patients.' The celebrated composer, who humbly called himself an 'accidental singer,' also spoke about his love for creating music. 'I've always considered myself a composer first, creating music, crafting sounds, and building ideas is what truly drives me. Singing was never the plan, but it just happened. I'd record my scratch vocals for songs, and directors or producers would end up liking them so much, they'd ask me to sing the final version too. That's how I became an accidental singer. But in the process, I've had the privilege of collaborating with some incredibly talented artists in the industry, and that's been a real blessing." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Free P2,000 GCash eGift UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo Devender Pal Singh, Janvi Jain, Amit Trivedi, Meghna Mishra and Arun Kamath (From L-R) Devender Pal Singh, Janvi Jain, Amit Trivedi, Meghna Mishra and Arun Kamath Amit introduced his accompanying singers, Meghna Mishra, Janvi Jain, Arun Kamath, and Devender Pal Singh, calling them 'not backing vocals but brilliant artistes in their own right.' Amit's concert in Mumbai One of the most magical moments of the evening came when a giant screen lit up with lyrics of Iktara, turning the entire audience into a flawless choir. 'Are there singers here? You were all singing in perfect sur and taal!' Amit grinned, before inviting them to join in the next song. 'Let's use this chorus now!' The energy soared as he performed indie hits like Madhubala and Rangeeni, followed by a pan-India tribute titled 'Songs of India', featuring regional gems like Pashmina (Kashmir), Monta Re (Bengal), Shubhaarambh (Gujarat), Navrai Maajhi (Maharashtra), Chaudhary (Rajasthan), and Gal Mitthi Mitthi (Punjab). Composer Amit Trivedi on actor Fawad Khan's Abir Gulaal getting stalled: The decision was taken keeping India first
There was much anticipation around Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor-starrer Abir Gulaal, and its music caught the attention of moviegoers. The film was initially slated for a May 9 release, but was later postponed indefinitely following the Pahalgam attack and ensuing India-Pakistan diplomatic tensions. But composer Amit Trivedi, who worked on the film's soundtrack and also attended its music launch in Dubai, doesn't regret the film getting stalled. 'The decision [to not release the film] was taken keeping India first and I am in support of it completely,' the musician tells us, exclusively. As an artiste, who invests a lot of time and effort in putting together the soundtrack of a project, does it prick when the project doesn't see the light of the day? 'Yes, it hurts when a project faces trouble. Not just this film, but anything I work on with all the honesty and hard work becomes a part of me. So, a project getting stalled is bound to disappoint you. We make music for the audience and as artistes, that's all you want (your music to reach the fans). But in this case, the scenario was very different. My country comes first, above everything else,' says Amit, who also composed the music for Raid 2. Meanwhile, the musician is set to perform a fundraising concert in Mumbai tomorrow ahead of World No Tobacco Day (May 31) and to raise funds for cancer survivors. Presented by the Cancer Patients Aid Association (CPAA), Amit Trivedi Live! – Music For A Cause aims at spreading awareness about the dangers of tobacco use and raising vital funds for the treatment and rehabilitation of cancer patients. 'I am happy to perform such concerts whenever an opportunity presents itself. The treatment for cancer is very expensive and this is my way of doing my bit. I feel grateful that God chose me for a cause like this,' he ends.

What not to miss during Global Village's last month
It's the last month of Global Village. The family-friendly attraction in Dubai is set to close on May 11. Although temperatures are heating up, the evenings are still cool enough for a trip to the popular global-themed park. So whether going with family, friends, or even solo, here are some things to check out before the season ends. The pavilions are always a highlight, and this year is no different. Take a visit to the Palestine pavilion for spices, or browse the jewellery on offer at the Turkey pavilion. The African pavilions are great for finding unique knick-knacks that make for thoughtful gifts, while the Kuwait pavilion features stunning dresses worth checking out. This season also marks the debut of pavilions from Jordan, Iraq, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Each provides a glimpse into the country's culture and traditions, with plenty of food, souvenirs and other retail finds such as olive oil from Jordan or fragrant cinnamon from Sri Lanka. There are still big-name concerts and events to come at Global Village and something for everyone. Indian composer Amit Trivedi, along with actors Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor, will appear for a show on the main stage for their Bollywood film Abir Gulaal on Saturday at 8pm. Egyptian superstar Amr Diab will perform on May 4 at 8.30pm. Known as the reigning king of Arabic pop, Diab made his debut with the album Ya Tareeq in 1983. Since then, his stardom has only grown as he's visited the UAE for numerous concerts throughout his career. There are also tribute shows that will be taking place weekly until the end of the month. They include Queen frontman Freddie Mercury on Wednesday, pop star Taylor Swift on April 23 and US rock band Bon Jovi on April 30. One of the more immersive experiences at this year's Global Village is Secrets of the Lost City, which is set inside a themed Mayan temple, where visitors take part in a guided treasure hunt. Led by actors playing archaeologists, the experience involves solving puzzles and searching for clues to uncover the 'Lost Eye', a fictional ancient artifact. The space is filled with interactive elements while moving through different rooms as part of the story. It's designed to feel like part-escape room, part-live theatre and is open to those aged 10 and above. There are hundreds of food vendors that can be found around the sprawling park, so it's easy to opt for fan favourites from previous years, such as Bosnian kebab and pineapple fried rice. However, it's worth checking out the newer offerings too. This includes the new Restaurant Plaza, which is made up of 11 double-storey restaurants and serves cuisines from around the world; Fiesta Street, made up of kiosks, but now extending to two levels; and a transformed Railway Market and Floating Market (can't miss the sticky rice and mango), redone to incorporate fresh designs and themes. Global Village closes on May 11; tickets start from Dh25 and are available on the website, mobile app or at ticketing counters at the gates
