Sisi launches Sayyida Nafisa Mosque's renovation, affirms Egypt commitment to developing Ahl Al-Bayt sites
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi performs Al Fajr prayers at Sayyida Nafisa Mosque in Cairo as he launches renovation works, 20 March 2025 - Presidency CAIRO – 20 March 2025: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi visited and toured Sayyida Nafisa Mosque in Cairo early Thursday to inaugurate the renovation works. He emphasized Egypt's commitment to continuing the development of sites associated with Ahl Al-Bayt (the family of Prophet Muhammad), including various mosques. Accompanying the president during the visit were Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouly, Al-Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed El-Tayyeb, and Minister of Religious Endowments Usama Al-Azhari. Also present were Cairo Governor Ibrahim Saber, Undersecretary of Al-Azhar Mohamed Al-Duwaini, Grand Mufti Nazir Ayad, and Head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Ahmed El-Azazi. Azazi provided an overview of the development work carried out by the Armed Forces Engineering Authority as part of efforts to renovate the Ahl Al-Bayt mosques, in line with the state's plan to develop historic Cairo. The president underscored the Egyptians' deep connection to the Prophet's family, highlighting the public's awareness of their significance and recognition of their virtues. President Sisi prayed for the continued safety, stability, and prosperity of the Egyptian people during Ramadan and for the protection of the Arab and Islamic nations. He performed the Fajr prayer at the mosque and concluded his visit by paying respects at the mausoleum of Sayyida Nafisa. Sayyida Nafisa was a female descendant of Prophet Muhammad, tracing her lineage to Al-Hassan ibn Ali ibn Abi Talib, the prophet's grandson. Born in 762 A.D., she is well-known in Egypt as a hadith scholar. The inauguration of renovation works at Sayyida Nafisa Mosque comes less than a year after the president opened the landmark Sayyida Zaynab Mosque in Cairo following its renovation.

Today at dawn, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi visited Al-Sayyida Nafisa Mosque to inaugurate the renovation work. Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Dr. Ahmed El-Tayyeb, Minister of Religious Endowments Dr. Usama Al-Azhari,Governor of Cairo, Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Undersecretary of Al-Azhar Dr. Mohamed Al-Duwaini, Grand Mufti of the Republic Ayad and Head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority and Major General Ahmed El-Azazi were present. Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said President El-Sisi inspected the mosque and was briefed by the head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority on the renovation work implemented by the Engineering Authority at the mosque as part of the efforts to develop Al Albayt (family members of the Prophet PBUH) mosques as part of the state's plan to develop historic Cairo. President El-Sisi emphasized Egypt's commitment to completing the development of Al Abayt sites, including their mosques, highlighting that the Egyptians' attachment to the Prophet's family reflects an awareness of their value and recognition of their virtue. The President prayed to Allah the Almighty to grant the Egyptian people security, stability, and prosperity during the holy month of Ramadan, and to protect the Arab and Islamic nations. OPEN// President Sisi: Egypt always has positive role in defusing conflicts
CAIRO, March 7 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said Egypt always has a positive role in defusing conflicts and acting as a peacemaker. Egypt's primary goal remains achieving a ceasefire in Gaza, ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid, and securing the release of hostages; an unwavering stance that has not changed, President Sisi said during his inspection visit to the Egyptian Military Academy. President Sisi reiterated Egypt's warning of the dangers of prolonged conflicts, noting that military confrontations can easily spiral out of control due to miscalculations, resulting in unwise decisions. He stressed peace is a preferred choice for Egypt, noting that the large financial resources spent on conflicts could instead be directed toward development, reconstruction, and economic growth. He further explained that whoever wins a war, he often suffers significant economic losses due to the high costs associated with military engagement. President Sisi further underlined that Egypt is the first country to sign a peace agreement in 1979. He praised late president Mohamed Anwar el Sadat for initiating peace talks at a time when such dialogues were unprecedented. Shifting to the current situation in Gaza, President Sisi reaffirmed Egypt's genuine efforts in maintaining a ceasefire, facilitating humanitarian aid access, and releasing hostages. As for the severe destruction in the war-torn Gaza, Sisi said Egypt has proposed a plan for Gaza reconstruction. Egypt has coordinated with Arab partners to devise a comprehensive reconstruction plan for Gaza, Sisi added. All state institutions, including Egypt's higher education and housing ministries, and the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, worked together to come up with a comprehensive document on rebuilding Gaza, the President added. During the extraordinary Arab Summit, hosted by Egypt on Tuesday, March 4, the reconstruction plan was discussed and approved by the participants, President Sisi said, deeming it as a collective Arab initiative for Gaza reconstruction. President Sisi also expressed his keenness on visiting the Egyptian Military Academy to greet the cadets on the holy month of Ramadan, and reassure them of the situation in the country and the whole region. Sisi said that he regularly receives updates from the academy's leadership on educational and training processes in the academy. Prime Minister Inaugurates "Al-Ali al-Azim" Mosque in Almaza
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly inaugurated Friday the "Al-Ali al-Azim" Mosque in the Almaza area of Cairo, in the presence of Osama Al-Azhari, Minister of Endowments, a number of ministers and senior officials, in addition to state leaders and representatives of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, the Ministry of Endowments and Al-Azhar Al-Sharif. During the inauguration, the Prime Minister unveiled the mosque, stressing the state's keenness to develop and renovate existing mosques and build new ones in various governorates. He explained that the Ministry of Endowments is preparing to receive the month of Ramadan by opening 162 new mosques, including 111 mosques that have been completely rebuilt, and 51 mosques that have undergone maintenance and development work. Madbouly inspected the mosque and listened to an explanation given by Ahmed El-Ezzizi, Head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, who explained that the construction work of the mosque began in July 2023 and ended in February 2025, adding that the mosque can accommodate 5,000 worshipers, is built on an area of 8,100 square meters, and consists of three floors including a basement, a ground floor, and an upper floor. The mosque also contains multiple service facilities, including an events hall, halls, a room for memorizing the Qur'an, a prayer room for women, internal and external courtyards, clinics, a parking lot, bathrooms, a nursery, educational classes, and a library.
