Rayalaseema readies for mega ‘Yogandhra – 2025'

The temple city of Tirupati is getting a facelift in preparation for 'Yogandhra - 2025,' a mega event that will be held across the State, in celebration of 'International Yoga Day' on June 21. Public walls across the city are receiving a fresh coat of paint as local artists paint images depicting various yoga postures and asanas. The idea is to raise awareness among the people about the mega event and foster a sense of community and encourage participation. In Kadapa district, Superintendent of Police E.G. Ashok Kumar highlighted the transformative power of yoga at an event held at the Police Parade Grounds in Kadapa on Sunday. The event saw staff from the Armed Reserve, Special Police, civil, and other wings officers attend. 'Police personnel often work under high-pressure conditions, leading to mental and physical strain. Incorporating yoga into our daily routines is not just beneficial but also essential', Mr. Kumar said. Participants took a pledge against drug abuse.

HYDERABAD: Cyberabad Police have arrested five individuals belonging to Andhra Pradesh who were allegedly conspiring to sell cocaine mixed with ephedrine in Kukatpally. Among the accused is a serving Armed Reserve (AR) constable attached to Task Force from Andhra Pradesh, identified as Gunashekar, who is currently absconding. The arrested individuals have been identified as Unnam Surendra alias Suri, Dothireddy Haribabu Reddy, Chegudi Mercy Margaret, Shaik Masthan Vali and Devaraju Yesu Babu. Along with Constable Gunashekar, another accused, a known drug peddler named Appanna, is also on the run. According to the police, the accused were intercepted at Kukatpally while trying to find potential buyers. Authorities seized 820 grams of a cocaine-ephedrine mix, estimated to be worth Rs 1 crore. Investigation revealed that Gunashekar proposed the sale of ephedrine to make quick profits. Attracted by the idea, Surendra conspired with his associates, Haribabu Reddy, Mercy Margaret, Shaik Masthan Vali and Yesu Babu, to sell the drug in Hyderabad.

Woman constable ends life in Nagapattinam

A 2023 batch policewoman attached to the Armed Reserve in Nagapattinam district allegedly ended her life while on duty on Sunday morning. Abinaya, 29, hailing from Keezhayiruppu in Manakkudi, Mayiladuthurai district, was posted as constable at the District Treasury in Nagapattinam. She was on duty between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. when she took the extreme step. Authorities have sent the body to the Government Medical College Hospital in Nagapattinam for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered by the Nagore police and further investigation is under way. Director General of Police (DGP) Harish Kumar Gupta has said that clean and green practices are a must for leading a healthy life. The 'Swarnandhra – Swachh Andhra' drive was taken up in all police offices and stations across the State, the DGP said. He participated in the cleanliness drive taken up in the Andhra Pradesh Police Headquarters at Mangalagiri on Saturday along with the officers of various wings. 'Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is giving top priority to 'Clean and Green' programmes and by 2047, India should be in No. 1 position in cleanliness,' the DGP said. 'The Capital Amaravati is being constructed with 30% green cover. Public are requested to make it a practice to plant saplings and protect the environment,' Mr. Harish Kumar Gupta said. About 18,298 files were saved in the record room, and waste material was removed from all the wings in the police headquarters, the DGP said. Following the call given by the Chief Minister to take part in 'Swarnandhra - Swachhandhra' programme on every third Saturday, Eluru district Superintendent of Police K. Pratap Shiva Kishore, along with Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP-Administration) N. Surya Chandra Rao, ASP (Armed Reserve) N.S.S. Sekhar, AR DSP Chandra Sekhar, and other police officers took up a clean-up drive on the premises of the Eluru District Headquarters, and planted saplings. Cleanliness programmes were up taken up in the DCP, ACP offices and all police stations in NTR Police Commissionerate. The police personnel cleaned the station premises, removed garbage and planted saplings on the occasion.

Krishna district Superintendent of Police R. Gangadhar Rao has directed the police officers to use drones to keep a vigil on vulnerable places as part of measure to check crimes in the district. The SP conducted a review on pending cases, cybercrimes, crime against women, drone beats, status of complaints received through Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS), and other aspects in Krishna district on Friday. He asked the Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) of Avanigadda, Machilipatnam, Gannavaram and Gudivada to implement drone beats and keep a tab on abandoned places and vulnerable places to check gambling, ganja and liquor consumption. He directed the Station House Officers (SHOs) to give priority to the complaints received in PGRS and render justice to the public. Police personnel should enlighten the public against cyber offences and solve the cybercrime cases at the earliest, he said. 'The SIs and constables should verify the movements of rowdy and suspect sheets and other criminals in each mandal to prevent crimes in villages,' he added. Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP-Administration) V.V. Naidu, ASP Armed Reserve B. Satyanarayana and officers of all police sub-divisions in Krishna district attended the meeting.
