The show's maker, Asit Kumarr Modi, has often confirmed that the hunt for a new Dayaben is underway. Just a few months ago, Asit Modi exclusively confirmed to News18 Showsha that Disha would not be returning to the popular sitcom. 'It is difficult for her now (to return to the show). For women, life changes after marriage. Working with small children and managing the house is really a bit difficult for them. But I am still positive. I feel somewhere that god will do a miracle and she will return. If she comes, then it will be a good thing. If for some reason she does not come, then I will have to bring another Dayaben for the show," the Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah creator said. Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah: Asit Modi Slams Trolls, Says 'Creating Fresh Content Not Easy'

Last Updated: Asit Modi explained that even though he listens to "constructive" criticism, he does not give importance to those who are questioning the show for the sake of spreading negativity. Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been running for over 17 years now. While the show often rules TRP charts, a section of the audience feels that Asit Kumarr Modi's sitcom has also lost its charm over the years. In a recent interview, Asit Modi gave a befitting reply to trolls. He explained that even though he listens to 'constructive" criticism, he does not give importance to those who are questioning the show for the sake of spreading negativity around his show. 'I don't give much importance to criticism unless it's constructive. If someone points out something valid, I try to work on it right away. See, there are two kinds of criticism. One is the kind of people who do just for the sake of it, especially on social media these days. The other kind actually helps you grow, and that's the one I pay attention to. I also believe that those who appreciate our work have every right to point out our flaws too. That's why I focus on staying true to my story," Asit Modi told ETimes. The TMKOC maker explained that in the early episodes, 'the storyline was different. Tapu Sena was much younger. Now, they've all grown up, and so have the actors playing them. But the audience accepted this change." Asit Modi further argued that the heart of his show lies in its humour, which remains unchanged over the years. 'Creating fresh and funny content isn't easy, especially when audiences re-watch episodes and can quickly recognise repetition. That's the challenge; we constantly push ourselves to keep things new and entertaining, knowing that the audience is sharp and expects nothing less. A fresh story each day, but one that connects with people emotionally. They've been watching the show for 17 years, and they trust me. That's a big responsibility. It's not always easy. People will always find something to criticise and that's okay. Even big movie stars get trolled. It's just a part of the job," he added. Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah premiered first premiered in July 2008. The show has been on the top of the TRP charts for the last three weeks. view comments First Published: July 22, 2025, 09:18 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Disha Vakani NOT Returning To Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah? Asit Modi Breaks Silence

Asit Modi says Disha Vakani's return as Dayaben in TMKOC isn't easy despite fans' love. He stresses strong storytelling keeps the show going even without her. Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been in the headlines for several different reasons, and every two months a new report surfaces about Asit Modi casting a new actress to fulfill Daya Ben's role in the sitcom. A few reports also claim that Disha Vakani might return to the show. Now, Asit Modi has reacted to the reports about whether Disha Vakani is returning to the show or not. In a recent interview, the producer told ETimes TV whether the actress can return to the show or not. He stated, 'The viewers who constantly ask about Daya Bhabhi's comeback are absolutely right. Disha ji truly left a lasting impact. Even though it's been eight years since she was last seen, her character still lives on in the hearts of the audience." 'Disha ji's role overpowered the character. Bringing her back isn't simple, though, and it takes time and the right circumstances," Asit continued. 'I focus primarily on storytelling. When the narrative is strong, viewers naturally become engrossed in the plot, and the absence of a character doesn't stand out as much. This show has always been driven by its story. As long as we keep delivering engaging content, people stay connected whether or not certain characters are present," he added, while sharing that good storytelling manages to fill the void of a missing character. Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been running successfully for 17 years now. However, over the years, several actors have left the show. Among them are Disha Vakani, Jheel Mehta, Bhavya Gandhi, Raj Anadkat, Palak Sindhwani, Gurucharan Singh Sodhi, and Neha Mehta — all of whom are no longer part of TMKOC. After leaving the show, several actors, including Shailesh Lodha and Jennifer Mistry, accused the makers of misbehaviour, non-payment of dues, and several other allegations. Nidhi Bhanushali, who also left the show after playing the role of Sonu for several years, reacted to the accusations of non-payment of money. Speaking to News18 Showsha, Nidhi said, 'Aisi kaunsi cheez hoti hai jo sirf acchi hai? Every coin has two sides. Everybody is trying to do their best. I really don't know what to say on this. I chose what I chose when I thought the time was right. And I have just moved on in life." Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
