Disha Vakani NOT Returning To Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah? Asit Modi Breaks Silence
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been in the headlines for several different reasons, and every two months a new report surfaces about Asit Modi casting a new actress to fulfill Daya Ben's role in the sitcom. A few reports also claim that Disha Vakani might return to the show. Now, Asit Modi has reacted to the reports about whether Disha Vakani is returning to the show or not.
In a recent interview, the producer told ETimes TV whether the actress can return to the show or not. He stated, 'The viewers who constantly ask about Daya Bhabhi's comeback are absolutely right. Disha ji truly left a lasting impact. Even though it's been eight years since she was last seen, her character still lives on in the hearts of the audience."
'Disha ji's role overpowered the character. Bringing her back isn't simple, though, and it takes time and the right circumstances," Asit continued.
'I focus primarily on storytelling. When the narrative is strong, viewers naturally become engrossed in the plot, and the absence of a character doesn't stand out as much. This show has always been driven by its story. As long as we keep delivering engaging content, people stay connected whether or not certain characters are present," he added, while sharing that good storytelling manages to fill the void of a missing character.
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been running successfully for 17 years now. However, over the years, several actors have left the show. Among them are Disha Vakani, Jheel Mehta, Bhavya Gandhi, Raj Anadkat, Palak Sindhwani, Gurucharan Singh Sodhi, and Neha Mehta — all of whom are no longer part of TMKOC.
After leaving the show, several actors, including Shailesh Lodha and Jennifer Mistry, accused the makers of misbehaviour, non-payment of dues, and several other allegations.
Nidhi Bhanushali, who also left the show after playing the role of Sonu for several years, reacted to the accusations of non-payment of money. Speaking to News18 Showsha, Nidhi said, 'Aisi kaunsi cheez hoti hai jo sirf acchi hai? Every coin has two sides. Everybody is trying to do their best. I really don't know what to say on this. I chose what I chose when I thought the time was right. And I have just moved on in life."

Karan Johar Regrets Making Aditya Roy Kapur And Shraddha Kapoor's 'Ok Jaanu': 'I've Gone Wrong'
Last Updated: Karan Johar admitted he went against his gut instinct while remaking Mani Ratnam's film as OK Jaanu. The Shraddha-Aditya film flopped in 2017. Filmmaker Karan Johar recently admitted to making a miscalculated decision when he backed the 2017 film OK Jaanu, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur. While speaking on On Purpose with Jay Shetty, Karan reflected on how ignoring his gut instinct has cost him in the past with OK Jaanu being a prime example. 'Should This Film Be Remade?' Karan Asked Himself The Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani director recalled being unsure about the idea of remaking Mani Ratnam's Tamil hit O Kadhal Kanmani. 'It is called OK Jaanu. Aditya and Shraddha just had a blockbuster called Aashiqui 2. They had already agreed to do the film," Karan shared. The film came to him as a ready remake with Shaad Ali at the helm. But even then, his heart said otherwise. 'In my heart, I had actually felt that, 'Should this film be remade?' Because it's so much about that moment. Can that moment be recaptured?" he recalled. 'The Magic Couldn't Be Recaptured' Karan Johar further added, 'Somewhere, the magic of the original we couldn't recapture. And it was nobody's fault. But my instinct told me I shouldn't do it. And I did it. And that's when I realised I should listen to my instinct. I have gone wrong." Released in 2017, OK Jaanu failed to recreate the success of Aashiqui 2. The film received lukewarm reviews from critics and performed poorly at the box office despite its music and fresh pairing. 'Failures Are As Special As Success' Despite the disappointment, Karan doesn't shy away from owning up to his mistakes. He told Jay Shetty, 'Every failure of mine is as special to me as success. It's just the way I look at it." The filmmaker has always been candid about his hits and flops and views every experience as a lesson. Over the years, Karan Johar has launched several talents and backed countless projects under Dharma Productions, making him one of the most successful names in the industry.
