Eritrea: Vocational Training for Youth in Massawa
The vocational training center of the National Confederation of Eritrean Workers in Massawa has provided training to 162 youths, including 42 females. The training covered various fields such as electronics, electricity, wood and metal works, computer networking, cooling and heating systems, as well as computer technology. Eng. Aklilu Asmerom, Vice Director of the training center, stated that the trainees of the 9th round came from all regions of the country and expressed appreciation to all partners who supported the training process. Highlighting the importance of vocational training in sustainable development, Mr. Tesfay Seium, Head of Technical and Vocational Training at the Ministry of Education, called on the graduates to apply the knowledge they gained in their workplaces and contribute meaningfully to daily operations. A representative of the trainees noted that the program fostered unity and knowledge-sharing among participants and praised the dedication of the trainers. Ms. Asmeret Abraha, Governor of the Northern Red Sea Region, emphasized the crucial role of vocational training in advancing economic development. She stated that the current demands require greater effort and commitment, and affirmed the regional administration's support in this endeavor. At the event, certificates of recognition were awarded to all trainees, while outstanding performers received special awards. Since its inception, the Massawa Vocational Training Center has provided training to 1,467 workers, including 480 females, as part of its 9th commencement. Eritrea: International Workers Day Celebration in Northern Red Sea (NRS)
International Workers Day was celebrated in the port city of Massawa at the Northern Red Sea region level under the theme 'Productivity through Conscious Participation.' The event featured sports competitions, public campaigns, and seminars among other activities. Mr. Habtemariam Tesfamicael, head of the National Confederation of Eritrean Workers branch in the region, said that May Day is a day when workers raise their voices and renew their pledge to work hard and increase productivity. He also gave a briefing on the historical struggle of Eritrean workers. The branch office of the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare and the office of the PFDJ also delivered messages of solidarity. Ms. Asmeret Abraha, Governor of the region, highlighted the significant role Eritrean workers played during the armed struggle for independence, in safeguarding national sovereignty, and in the implementation of national development programs. She also called for strengthening unity and awareness, and for citizens to play their part in national affairs. Eritrea: Official Commemoration of Fenkil Operation
The official ceremony marking the 35th anniversary of Fenkil Operation was held today with great enthusiasm under the theme 'Fenkil: The Right Choice.' The event was attended by President Isaias Afwerki, Ministers, senior Government and PFDJ officials, Army Commanders, and a number of nationals. Ms. Asmeret Abraha, Governor of the Northern Red Sea region, highlighted that this year's commemoration emphasizes the bold and historic decision to liberate Massawa and remove the occupying forces. She explained that Fenkil Operation was a decisive political and military victory that paved the way for the total liberation of Eritrea. Ms. Zeineb Omar, Chairperson of the Holidays Coordinating Committee in the Northern Red Sea region, congratulated attendees from both within the country and abroad. She also commended those who contributed to making the event vibrant and memorable. The 35th anniversary commemoration featured an exhibition organized by the Ministries of Defense and Marine Resources, the Port Authority, and other line ministries. Additional activities included general knowledge and sports competitions, as well as community gatherings. The East African Half Marathon, organized by the National Athletics Federation, was also held as part of the celebrations for the Fenkil Operation anniversary.
