Waterbury man charged with drug, gun, vehicle offenses
WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — A Waterbury man was arrested on May 1 and charged with drug, firearms and vehicle infractions. According to Waterbury police, the VICE and Intelligence Unit, Auto Theft Task Force, Gang Task Force, and the Crime Prevention Unit executed a search warrant at 96 Giles Street, second floor as well as 36-year-old Jacquise Henry of Waterbury. Police said they seized drug paraphernalia, 2,000 bags of heroin, a Winchester 12-gauge shotgun and $1,043 cash during the search. Henry was charged with operating a drug factory, possession of an ounce or more of heroin/ fentanyl, improper use of marker plates, insufficient insurance, operating a motor vehicle under suspension, illegal sale or transfer of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm/ammunition. Henry remains in the custody of the Connecticut Department of Corrections on a $1,000,000 bond. Henry is also a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing any firearms or ammunition. Porsche pirates: El Paso police recover stolen sports cars, arrest 4 in auto theft case
El Paso police arrested four men and within six hours recovered four Porsche 911 sports cars that were stolen last week. The high-end sports cars — worth a total of more than $1 million — were stolen on Wednesday, March 12, from an unspecified building in Central El Paso, a police news release stated. Crime: 'Totally messed up.' El Paso drivers arrested after crashing vehicles into each other Investigators with the Auto Theft Task Force with the help of the Central Tactical Unit were able to recover the stolen cars within six hours of the time they were taken, police said. Four El Paso men were arrested and booked into the Downtown jail on Wednesday and Thursday in connection with the case. Details on the theft itself were not immediately released as an investigation continued. Those arrested in connection with the Porsche thefts case and their charges were: Corey Dana Reed, 37, theft of property over $300,000. He remains jailed on a $300,000 bond. Milton Castilleja, 36, theft of property over $30,000 under $150,000, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, two counts of having a prohibited item in a correctional facility. Remains jailed on a $109,000 total bond. Juan Reynaldo Ochoa, 43, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and criminal trespass. Jailed on a $8,500 total bond. Luis Miguel Ubieta, 42, possession of a controlled substance. Booked on Wednesday and released Thursday on a $2,5000 surety bond, according to jail records. Two arrested after stolen vehicle crashes into police cruiser, building in Waterbury
Two people were arrested in a stolen car in Waterbury last week after the driver struck a police cruiser and a brick building during a failed escape attempt. The incident unfolded last Wednesday shortly after 3:30 p.m. when authorities conducting patrols along Willow Street and Hillside Avenue spotted a stolen 2007 Honda Accord parked in a lot at 120 Hillside Ave., according to the Waterbury Police Department. The vehicle was reported stolen that morning in Bridgeport. The Honda was spotted by the police department's Auto Theft Task Force and Vice and Intelligence Unit as well as the Connecticut Violent Crime Task Force. Dashboard camera and body camera footage from the incident, which was released by police, shows multiple officers on foot approaching the vehicle while a cruiser parks behind it. As the driver tries to drive away a policeman breaks the passenger side window of the Honda. The driver then strikes the police cruiser and a vehicle parked in the lot. The Honda becomes wedged in between the vehicles briefly, at which point an officer can be seen smashing the driver side window, the footage shows. The driver is able to free the Honda and continue through the lot with the police cruiser touching or following close behind. The Honda driver then strikes the beam of a brick building and careens directly into another beam, the footage shows. The vehicle is then boxed in by the cruiser before officers take the driver and a passenger into custody. Police identified them as 42-year-old Daniel Baker of Naugatuck and 38-year-old Janete Olivencia of Waterbury. Police said Baker was taken to an area hospital for a laceration on his face. Officers searched the vehicle and reportedly found drug paraphernalia, according to police. Baker was charged with reckless driving, evading responsibility, theft of a motor vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, second-degree criminal trover, first-degree criminal mischief, illegal possession of a controlled substance, operation of motor vehicle with a suspended license and failure to keep narcotic medication in the original container. According to police, Baker was found to have a warrant out for his arrest from an incident in Fairfield. Olivencia was charged with theft of a motor vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia.

2 arrested after stolen vehicle crashes into police cruiser in Waterbury

The incident occurred around 3:32 p.m. on Feb. 5. Police said officers from the Waterbury Police Department's Auto Theft Task Force (ATTF), Vice and Intelligence Unit, and the Connecticut Violent Crime Task Force were patrolling along Willow Street and Hillside Avenue when they noticed a 2007 Honda Accord reported stolen from Bridgeport earlier that morning. Juvenile among 2 arrested on firearm and drug charges in Waterbury When officers tried to stop the vehicle, the driver attempted to flee, ultimately colliding with a police cruiser and a brick wall. He was apprehended at the scene, along with a passenger in the vehicle. After the incident, the driver- Daniel Baker, 42, of Naugatuck- was transported to a hospital for treatment of a laceration to his face. Baker was later charged with reckless driving, evading responsibility, theft of a motor vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, second-degree criminal trover, first-degree criminal mischief, illegal possession of a controlled substance, and more. One person found dead after car fire in Cromwell He also had an active arrest warrant out of Fairfield, police said. Janete Olivencia, 38, of Waterbury- the passenger- was charged with theft of a motor vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia. Recovery of stolen car nets three arrests in Waterbury
Three people were arrested when police recovered a stolen vehicle in Waterbury on Thursday. The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 was found parked at 204 Union St., according to Lt. Ryan Bessette of the Waterbury Police Department. Bessette said the vehicle was found by members of the police department's Auto Theft Task Force. Following the investigation, three people were arrested. Jose Torrez, 29, of Meriden was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle (first offense) and operating without a license. He was released on $10,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned next Thursday. Gabriela Rivera, 21, of Waterbury was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle (first offense) and was released on $1,000 bond. She is also expected to face a judge next Thursday. Lamontaye Perry, 21, of Waterbury was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle (second offense). Bessette said police found that he was on parole, leading to a remand to custody order. 'The Waterbury Police Department remains committed to addressing auto theft-related crimes and ensuring the safety of our community,' Bessette said in a statement.
