Married At First Sight's Awhina breaks silence on Billy romance after pair went ‘Instagram official'

MARRIED At First Sight's Awhina has broken her silence on fellow show co-star Billy Belcher and their relationship since departing the programme. Awhina Rutene and Billy Belcher have been hit with rampant romance rumours after they went 'Instagram official' with one another after their series of MAFS Australia came to an end earlier this year. 5 5 Just last month, the fan-favourite pair seemingly went official after teasing their new relationship on social media. Paired up with Adrian Araouzou on the hit Channel 9 and E4 series, things were not rosy for Awhina with it ending on bad terms by the end of the experiment. Meanwhile, Billy was coupled with Sierah Swepstone before she and Adrian revealed they had a connection. After leaving the show, Awhina and Billy got close, with their "romance" leaving fans stunned last month. But despite reports saying that the pair are together after they went Instagram official, The Sun can reveal this is not the case. Speaking exclusively to The Sun about her relationship with Billy, Awhina got candid and opened up about their bond. "Billy and I are really close, like, I've done so many podcasts on our relationship. We are extremely close, like, I'm seeing him on Thursday," she told us in our chat this week. She added: "We speak a lot over the phone he calls me. I've gone to the movies with his mum. "I've hung out with his sister multiple times, hung out with his brother. "He's hung out with my family a lot. We've been very close since November last year. MAFS groom slammed over 'misogynistic' post as he shares 'high standards' for future girlfriend after bitter show split "But the thing with our relationship is sometimes it can get confusing, because the world's heavily involved," she explained. She later added: "I think that you can still have a beautiful relationship without being romantic and without ruining anything." Awhina noted that their "friendship line can be a bit blurred" but affirmed that she loves him. Opening up about why their relationship likely won't progress into anything romantic, she said that their life's trajectories look quite different. "I love Billy. He's such a family man, but I also know what the next 5 years looks like for him," she added, explaining his love for travelling. "I generally hope Billy gets everything he wants out of life... but the next 5 years look very different, like what I want versus what he wants. "So it's kind of like... as much of those lines can be blurry... If we were to cross that line we'd probably lose our friendship down in like a year or two." She then explained how she is keen to start dating again and expand her family even more. "I truly want to get back into a relationship because I was in one for so long. Like 14 years," she told us. "I like being a partner to someone, and I still want to grow my family like I'm not one and done. I want at least 3 kids. "So my next 5 years looks like, when I'm ready to get back out there and start dating, grow my family, and probably go offline." 5 5

EXCLUSIVE Shock video shows MAFS star Billy Belcher kissing a busty blonde in Bali just days after rumoured girlfriend Awhina Rutene returned to Perth following a holiday together

Married At First Sight's Billy Belcher has been filmed kissing a busty blonde in Bali, just days after his rumoured girlfriend Awhina Rutene jetted home to Perth from the island. Awhina had been staying with the 32-year-old tattooed tradie in a luxury villa where they celebrated his birthday. Billy was spotted packing on the PDA with a mystery blonde at a local Bali nightclub over the weekend. In footage obtained by Daily Mail Australia, the English groom was seen grinding and cuddling up to the leggy partygoer inside a dimly lit club. Wearing a red and white oversized jersey with the number '07' and a backwards cap, Billy danced, held hands and leaned in close to the blonde, who wore a revealing backless black dress. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. At one point, the pair appeared to share a kiss on the dancefloor. An onlooker told Daily Mail Australia: 'They were all over each other. No attempt to hide it.' When approached for comment, Awhina played down any romantic interest in Billy, telling Daily Mail Australia that the pair were 'just friends.' The pair also released a video confirming they are enjoying a 'close friendship' and no longer romantically linked. During the show, Awhina and Billy bonded over their emotional turmoil during the infamously dramatic 'wife swap' scandal, which saw her partner Adrian and his spouse Sierah entangled in secret flirtations. Their friendship deepened post‑show, and the duo were photographed holding hands on a Valentine's beach walk. Billy also attended Awhina's 31st birthday alongside her twin Cleo, and they enjoyed several dates in Perth. Despite this, Awhina repeatedly described the relationship as 'purely platonic'. Yet in early June, the pair soft‑launched their relationship by posting a cosy Instagram carousel captioned: 'I'll keep this one.' They officially went public soon after. Awhina then introduced Billy to her son Landon - an important step, given she met him during filming. Many viewers had long suspected Awhina and Billy's chemistry, noting that the MAFS experts got it wrong by not pairing them in the first place. But it seems the pair have now moved on and are single again.

MAFS stars Awhina Rutene and Billy Belcher reveal surprising new collaboration amid romance speculation: 'Gonna be spicy!'

Married At First Sight stars Awhina Rutene and Billy Belcher have revealed a surprising collaboration. Just under three months after their stint on the Channel Nine reality juggernaut, the pair are making a return to the small screen. This time around though, they'll be helping Perth-based singletons find love in a new YouTube dating series called 1Rose. Announcing the upcoming series on Instagram with a casting call this week, organisers revealed that the series was an extension of their intimate, speed-dating events. 'If you've been to our events, you know the experience,' the announcement post read. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'But for the show, we're switching things up with a fresh new setting, exciting new elements, and unexpected twists.' The post went on to explain that each show would feature 16 singles looking for a potential love match. 'At the end of the night, you'll have your 1ROSE to give to someone who sparked your interest,' the post concluded. Commenting on the announcement, Billy, 32, wrote: 'Gonna be spicy, this!' while Awhina, 30, simply offered three love heart emojis. Neither MAFS star will be in the running, however, with Billy taking on the role of host while Awhina handles the commentary duties. Speaking to Perth Now about the new venture, Awhina said the fast-paced events would take a lot of the 'grunt work' out of awkward social situations. 'It's not like when you go to a bar or nightclub and you're trying to gauge whether someone's in a relationship or not, and whether they're just out for fun,' she said. 'And then there's also those questions that you don't necessarily ask when you're out at a bar. So I guess it takes a lot of the grunt work out of it.' The publication also reported that the events would feature many twists and turns, including cash prizes, surprise rounds, and hidden matches for each participant, based on pre-selected criteria. Awhina added that her MAFS co-star could not wait to take on hosting duties, likening him to a 'golden retriever at the moment.' 'I know it's a dating event, and the singles are there to get to know each other, but Billy likes to be the main character,' she said. The announcement comes amid speculation that Awhina and Billy are more than friends. Most recently, the pair sent the rumour mill into overdrive after enjoying a cosy date night in Perth earlier this month. Awhina shared a series of loved-up snaps on Instagram with Billy during an outing to The Garden in Perth – further igniting speculation that their friendship has turned romantic. In one mirror selfie taken in an elevator, Awhina looked sensational in a figure-hugging black mini dress with long sleeves, her sleek brunette hair cascading past her shoulders. Beside her, Billy cut a rugged figure in a sleeveless black top that showed off his tattooed arms, as he embraced Awhina from behind and beamed at the camera. 'It's not like when you go to a bar or nightclub and you're trying to gauge whether someone's in a relationship or not, and whether they're just out for fun,' Awhina told Perth Now Another photo showed the MAFS beauty sipping a glass of red wine at the trendy bar, while a cheeky Billy hid behind a drinks menu. Fans of the reality show erupted with excitement in the comments, thrilled that the pair many felt should have been matched on the show might have finally found love with each other. Many viewers have long suspected Awhina and Billy's chemistry, noting that the MAFS experts got it wrong by not pairing them in the first place. This flurry of fan enthusiasm comes after months of speculation about the duo's relationship. Both Awhina and Billy are based in Western Australia, and they struck up a close bond during the marriage experiment. Their respective on-screen marriages famously imploded when it was revealed that Awhina's TV husband, Adrian Araouzou, and Billy's wife, Sierah Swepstone, had been secretly meeting up behind their backs during filming. The betrayal left Awhina and Billy heartbroken, and the pair chose to leave the experiment separately amid the drama.

MAFS groom slammed over ‘misogynistic' post as he shares ‘high standards' for future girlfriend after bitter show split

MAFS Australia's Adrian Araouzou has riled up fans after posting a video listing his "high standards" for his future wife. In a video titled "Unpopular opinion 💁🏻‍♂️", which he uploaded to Instagram, Adrian was seen eating food on a camp chair by a fire as he wrote across the screen. 6 6 6 He wrote: "High standards because I don't want my kids to have a mum who's drunk every weekend, thinks it's ok to disrespect their body, looks at doing anything for their man as a chore, has no faith in God, or prioritises material things over nature's beauty. " Fans weren't best pleased with the message, and made sure he knew it in the comments. "what do you bring to the table though…" said one, while another wrote: "Misogynistic manosphere springs to mind… Andrew Tate!" "Good luck with that.. maybe u should join the priesthood.. no woman would touch u now with your attitude," noted a third. "You must also meet these requirements. Not only your future wife!" wrote a fourth. The 31-year-old reality star appeared on the 12th season of the dating show favourite, marrying Awhina Rutene in the experiment. However, while they initially seemed to like each other when they met at the altar, things went south quickly when Awhina revealed she had a six-year-old son. He later became central to cheating speculation with another bride, Sierah, after they were seen playing footsie under the table at a dinner. While they didn't actually cheat, Adrian later left the experiment for a small period of time, leaving Awhina before eventually returning to complete the show. He also was criticised for making his new wife cry in other scenes after refusing to take part in writing a confession letter. MAFS Australia star Dave Hand reveals heartbreaking truth behind his marriage breakdown At the Final Vows the pair decided to break things off, thinking they wouldn't work. However, in a strange twist, before the show was over they had their mind and opted to give their relationship a proper shot away from the series. Unfortunately they didn't work out, and since the show aired they have both remained single. 6 6 6

Married At First Sight's Awhina Rutene and Billy Belcher continue to fuel romance rumours as they appear to go Instagram official on date night

Married At First Sight stars Awhina Rutene and Billy Belcher have sent the rumour mill into overdrive after enjoying a cosy date night in Perth. The former TV bride, 30, shared a series of loved-up snaps on Instagram with her co-star Billy, 31, during an outing to The Garden in Perth on Wednesday - further igniting speculation that their friendship has turned romantic. Another photo showed the MAFS beauty sipping a glass of red wine at the trendy bar, while a cheeky Billy hid behind a drinks menu. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Awhina captioned the post with a telling phrase: 'I'll keep this one', suggesting she's holding on tight to her new beau. Fans of the reality show erupted with excitement in the comments, thrilled that the pair many felt should have been matched on the show might have finally found love with each other. 'OMFG this is everything I love u two!' one follower gushed. 'The wife swap worked,' another declared, cheekily referencing the controversial partner-swapping scandal that unfolded during the experiment. 'We are absolutely HERE for this!!!!' added a third, as dozens more expressed their approval. The betrayal left Awhina and Billy heartbroken, and the pair chose to leave the experiment separately amidst the drama. It comes after Awhina opened up about what it was really like being married to her TV husband Adrian following the shock finale. In an exclusive interview with Daily Mail Australia, the single mum did not hold back as she revealed just how uncomfortable she felt around her match. 'His behaviour before the show was questionable. His behaviour during the show... very questionable! Poor, poor, poor!' Awhina explained. She said she was finding it difficult to permanently cut ties with Adrian because after the dating experiment finished he kept trying to contact her on social media. 'I blocked him, not the other way around... Then he added me on Snapchat and I blocked him! Then he added me on TikTok. I'm grateful I've closed all that,' she said. Awhina added she believed it was a failing of the production staff for pairing her with such an ill-suited match - and she felt pressure to remain on the show despite wanting to leave. 'I feel like they failed me. When I chose to stay, I genuinely felt peer-pressured into making that decision,' she said. She said she was working hard to completely cut Adrian from her life and hoped to never speak his name again. 'After this week, I will never mention Adrian's name again. We did this experience together and it was hard... I will happily never speak of him again,' she said. Awhina said her 'final straw' was when Adrian went online and made comments about both her and her twin sister Cleo. 'He's not a child. Stop looking at this man like a child. He would go online and attack my character and my sister. It's relentless,' she said. 'He's choosing every day to make these poor decisions, he has zero self-awareness. You are rewarding bad behaviour by helping him, if he wants to drown, let him.' Awhina described Adrian's behaviour as selfish and emotionally manipulative. 'He told me what I could and couldn't say. I felt alone,' she explained. 'There were moments of kindness – but they only came after he'd done something wrong. It felt performative... I kept giving him lifelines.' Awhina admits that viewers missed some of the high points in their relationship, but insists the low moments were deeply hurtful. 'It wasn't all bad. We had some real highs. But the lows were so low. Unfortunately, what aired didn't show any of the good. So people didn't understand why I stayed,' she said. After filming ended, Awhina says she tried to remain kind and supportive, keeping communication open because she felt sorry for Adrian. Now removed from the chaos of filming and away from Adrian, Awhina says she's begun to heal. 'I think I've got my glow back. It's amazing what cutting off someone toxic can do for your soul,' she said. She also revealed she had originally applied for the show alongside her twin sister Cleo, who pulled out due to work commitments. 'We went through the whole casting process together. That made it exciting. I truly believed my forever person was waiting at the end of the aisle,' she explained. Instead, she says she was paired with someone who didn't align with her values or desires for a future.
