Scott Mills launches UK-first podcast

Radio DJ Scott Mills has launched the UK's first podcast for van drivers. The star has partnered with Mercedes-Benz Vans to launch the Under the Bonnet podcast, a series of 30minute episodes in conversation with celebrities and guests to understand what makes Britain's van drivers tick. Scott, 52, whose dad Pete ran a removals company and drove a van, recorded the series discussed everything from his enduring love of service stations to the changing face of van drivers. The series, which has been launched to celebrate 30 years of the Sprinter, also delves into findings from the second annual Mercedes-Benz Vans Under the Bonnet report, which found conversations about potholes have overtaken football as the number one ice-breaker when talking to a stranger. The first episode of the Under the Bonnet podcast sees Scott in conversation with BBC Celebrity MasterChef judge and food critic Grace Dent, who reveals that her guilty pleasure is dining out at a motorway service station. In the second episode Scott opens up about his own mental health challenges as he talks to van driver David Curtis about the mental load of life on the road. The Mercedes-Benz Van Under the Bonnet report reveals 65% of van drivers have suffered from depression or anxiety. Scott said: 'As a child, I spent hours sitting in front of my dad's van, so recording a podcast in a Sprinter wasn't strange for me at all. Having grown up around it, I've seen first hand the invaluable role van drivers play in the UK. I'm proud to bring the Under the Bonnet podcast to the van driver community who work so hard around the clock to keep our businesses moving, our shops stocked and our deliveries made." Iain Forsyth, Managing Director at Mercedes-Benz Vans UK said: 'Scott Mills is the voice of the UK in the mornings so who better to become the voice of our Under the Bonnet podcast as we mark 30 years of the iconic Sprinter van. Since we launched the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter in 1995 the world has changed and so have our van drivers. Back then drivers only had radio for company. Our Under the Bonnet research shows its podcasts they now switch on, so it made sense to create a dedicated podcast just for our drivers that talks to them about the challenges they face day-to-day. 'We're really excited to launch the Under the Bonnet podcast to shine our full beams on the reality of van life.'

Rod Stewart's wife Penny Lancaster shares 'icing on the cake' moment with blended family

Sir Rod Stewart's wife Penny Lancaster has opened up about her and the Maggie May singer's huge blended family, including the 'icing on the cake' for her and his ex-wife, Rachel Hunter Penny Lancaster has confessed a touching "icing on the cake" episode within her large, mixed family with rock legend husband Sir Rod Stewart. During a heart-to-heart with Coleen Nolan on a fresh instalment of Loose Women: The Podcast, Penny discussed her and the 'Maggie May' hitmaker's extended clan. ‌ Rod is the father to eight children: Sarah, Kimberly, Sean, Ruby, Renee, Liam, Alastair Wallace, and Aiden Patrick, from relationships with five women: Susannah Boffey, Alana Stewart, Rachel Hunter, and his spouse Penny herself. With such a huge brood, Coleen probed into how she copes with meshing everyone. The 54 year old admitted her uncertainty about "what it would be like" amid a "divorce situation" when your kids go off on holiday with a "new wife." She pondered that had her offspring been younger and had she been in the shoes of Rod's previous partners, her concerns may have spiked over another woman having "influence" on her children or making contentious decisions, reports Edinburgh Live. ‌ Still, she assured us she 'really did take into account' the feelings of the biological mum when she was with Rod's little ones, acknowledging she "could only imagine" the complexities for the kids dealing with their parents' divorce. Advancing the conversation, Coleen queried whether Penny believes she could contend with such a scenario now as a mother. Penny clarified: "Now my boys are older, I wouldn't have a problem with that at all." ‌ Rod Stewart's wife Penny Lancaster has spoken about the bond between her children and those of her husband's ex-partners, revealing that they all get along famously. Speaking on Loose Women, Penny said: "You know, my children, I made sure that they got to know Rachel and Kelly and Alana. And, you know, I'd go to see Liam's hockey game and Rachel would be there; my little boys would be there." She added: "And I think the best gift of all is that Liam, Rachel's son, recently got married last summer, and he asked my son to be his best man, so, you know, that's kinda that icing on the cake." ‌ In other news, it's been reported that Rod Stewart enjoys a life of luxury when it comes to his dining habits. According to his wife Penny, the rocker indulges in three-course meals every evening, complete with candles. Penny revealed on BBC Celebrity MasterChef in 2021 that Rod's love of fine dining means she doesn't often cook for him. She said: "Rod kind of likes the fine dining every evening, three-course dinners, candles, and it's kind of out of my league, so I do the kids' cooking but otherwise, not really au fait." The 80 year old singer has also been announced as the Legends slot performer at this year's Glastonbury Festival. It will be his first time performing at the festival since 2002, when he headlined on the iconic Pyramid Stage.

More info Penny Lancaster has shared an "icing on the cake" moment she experienced in her huge blended family with megastar Sir Rod Stewart. In conversation with Coleen Nolan on a recent episode of Loose Women: The Podcast, Penny opened up about her and the Maggie May singer's large blended family. Rod shares eight children: Sarah, Kimberly, Sean, Ruby, Renee, Liam, Alastair Wallace and Aiden Patrick, with five mothers: Susannah Boffey, Alana Stewart, Rachel Hunter, and finally, his wife Penny. With such a vast family, Coleen asked how she manages to "blend all that together." The 54-year-old said she didn't know "what it would be like" to be in a "divorce situation" and have her children on holiday with the "new wife." (Image: Getty Images) She explained that if her children had been younger, and she had been in the same shoes as Rod's former partners, she may have had "more anxieties" about them going on holiday with the new wife, including someone else having "influence" over her kids, or making decisions that she may disagree with. Yet, she "really did take into account" what it would have been like for the mum while she was around Rod's children, adding that she "could only imagine" how difficult it was for the children to have divorced parents. Later on, Coleen followed up by asking if she would be able to handle the situation herself now that she's a mother. Penny responded: "Now my boys are older, I wouldn't have a problem with that at all. "You know, my children, I made sure that they got to know Rachel and Kelly and Alana. And, you know, I'd go to see Liam's hockey game and Rachel would be there; my little boys would be there." She added: "And I think the best gift of all is that Liam, Rachel's son, recently got married last summer, and he asked my son to be his best man, so, you know, that's kinda that icing on the cake." (Image:for Langan's) In related news, a recent report shared details about Rod's luxurious dining choices, with the rocker tucking into three-course meals each evening. Opening up during an appearance on BBC Celebrity MasterChef in 2021, Penny revealed that he also has candles. According to The Scottish Sun, when Penny and Rod first met, he had his own chef, meaning there "wasn't much need" for the Loose Women panellist to be in the kitchen. She said: "Rod kind of likes the fine dining every evening, three-course dinners, candles, and it's kind of out of my league, so I do the kids' cooking but otherwise, not really au fait." The 'Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?' singer, 80, has also been confirmed for the Legends slot at this year's Glastonbury Festival. It will be his first performance at the legendary music festival since 2002 when he headlined on the iconic Pyramid Stage.
