‘Veteran' Zeltwanger Aiming For Winter Success Aboard Toyota 86
Press Release – Toyota New Zealand With fifteen years of experience in the sport at the age of just 23, Massey racer Lee Zeltwanger has plenty of experience to take into a winter campaign in the Toyota 86 Trophy Series. An all-round sports fanatic who also plays seven-a-side and eleven-a-side soccer, Lee is a graduate in sports exercise, nutrition and management and likes working on the cars he races as well as driving them. He's had plenty of success in those 15 years on the motorsport scene too, as he explained. 'I have been in motorsport for 15 years, and started when I was seven years old in karts. In 2018 I moved away from karts and into car racing starting in the BMW Race Driver Series in the E30 class. 'I enjoyed racing in that for three years and then moved into the BMW E46 class for another three seasons. Some highlights were definitely winning the North Island Championship in 2014 in the Junior restricted class and winning the Kapellen Trophy in Rotax mini in Switzerland in 2012. I won City of Sails, was second at the CIK trophy of NZ, was Auckland club champion and won races in both the BMW E30 and E46 classes. 'Now, though, I have my eyes set on the Toyota 86 Trophy Series.' All-rounder Zeltwanger will run his own Toyota 86 in the four round series, which begins this weekend at Hampton Downs and he is determined to do well against high quality opposition. 'My objective is of course to try win the series but also be consistent and finish every race to maximise points,' he added. 'Another objective is winning the scholarship that is available to the winner to do a season in the new Toyota 86 cars in the Bridgestone GR86 Championship. That would be amazing.' Lee will contest the series, which also races at Manfeild and at Taupo International Motorsport Park twice, with the help of Timberworld East Tamaki, Euro West Limited, Solimara NZ Ltd, SKUNKWORKS and the Automoves Racing Team. 2025 Toyota 86 Trophy Series Rd1 9-10 May 2025 Hampton Downs – NZIGP Finale Rd2 21-22 June 2025 Taupo Int. New Jersey college student studying mechanical engineering has a passion for drifting: "I love the feeling"
The world of professional motorsports has become more inclusive in recent years, but women and girls still only represent about 10% of participation across all levels. That's according to the organization More than Equal. One college student in South Jersey is working hard under the hood to change that. Peyton Young is a junior at The College of New Jersey studying mechanical engineering, but her true passion is drifting. Drifting is a competitive driving style that involves intentionally sliding sideways through corners while managing to maintain control of the car. The harder you hit each turn, the higher you score. "The motion of being sideways and the g-forces of it. I just, I love the feeling," she said. Peyton got her first taste of drifting from a friend at a local track, and she's been obsessed ever since, saving up enough money to purchase her first drift car, a BMW E46. She works for hours every day modifying and making improvements. "I'm teaching myself completely. I knew nothing going in. And that's OK," she said. "You don't have to know. There's YouTube. There's videos. Reach out to other people. That's what I do. There's nothing wrong with asking for help." Peyton's dad, Dan, said he had no idea his daughter was so into cars until she opened up about her passion project. "It's surprising. It's almost like, who's this kid? he said. "She's like, 'Oh, I was working on the differential,' and I'm like, what? How does she even know what that is?" In the world of competitive car racing, which is often dominated by men, Peyton said she's received plenty of pushback, but she has a message for any young girls dreaming about getting behind the wheel. "You can do it. Don't listen to what anybody else says. You're able to," she said. "It doesn't matter what they say, what they feel. All that matters is you. At the end of the day, make sure you're happy. Don't do anything to please anybody else."

‘65 Mustang Is Really A BMW E46 With A Hellcat Front
⚡️ Read the full article on Motorious Some people push the automotive boundaries just to ruffle feathers, get others to think, or because they can. We're not sure if any of those reasons are behind this creation customfncustoms showed off on Facebook recently. The California shop has teamed up with Abimelec Design to completely transform a BMW E46 by putting a 1965 Ford Mustang body on the chassis and attaching a Dodge Challenger Hellcat front. It's one way to anger BMW, Ford, and Mopar purists all at the same time. Interestingly, the car looks pretty good, instead of being some cobbled-together mess which should never have been conceived of in the first place. Considerable work has been done to ensure the transition between the Hellcat front and the Mustang body is seamless. With big fender flares and smaller wheels than you'd probably expect to see on a modern American muscle car, this ride looks a little off, especially if you stare at it for too long. Those glowing stripes are supposed to be Lumilor paint. If you aren't familiar with the product, it's electroluminescent, so when electricity is applied it will light up. In other words, you could make any car look kind of like a Tron vehicle, which we must admit is pretty cool, even if we know some people will abuse that in the most retina-scorching ways imaginable. It's being touted as a solution for increasing visibility for motorcyclists, cyclists, and others at night, which is a great idea. We get not everyone is going to like this build, but have a feeling customfncustoms won't really care. It's definitely a unique car and probably will still that way. What you're seeing right now are renderings, so it'll be interesting to see the finished product and how it actually turns out.
