'I called police on my neighbour for selfish act during rainstorm but he won't stop'

The neighbour's act has directly impacted the person's home. Neighbourhood squabbles are a common occurrence, after all, you don't get to pick and choose who lives next to you. In most cases, low-level issues can either be solved or ignored. ‌ But sometimes a neighbour's actions directly impact another person's home - and that's when they really have to step in. This is the situation for one householder who is at their wit's end. ‌ The man living next door is consistently acting in a selfish manner during heavy rain. And it's more than just a nuisance for the householder - it's actually causing damage to their property, The Mirror reports. ‌ Despite attempts at mediation and even getting the police being involved, the neighbour is refusing to budge. Unsure what else to do, the raging resident has turned to social media for advice. Posting on Reddit's Bad Neighbours forum, they revealed that the man next door had been sticking a sandbag in front of his property during heavy rain. While that may seem like an innocent way to keep his property drier, it was actually diverting a flow of rainwater down the side of the poster's home. And it was more than just an inconvenience, as the increased water was causing the ground on their property to erode much quicker than normal. Sharing an image of the sandbag on the pavement, they wrote: "Neighbour puts sandbag on the sidewalk to direct more rainwater on my property. Really annoying because it increases the amount of water running down the side of the house and makes the ground erode much faster than it should." ‌ The photo has racked up dozens of comments, with many forum users offering their advice. One person said: "There's a very good chance that intentionally directing water runoff onto a neighbouring property is a code violation." Another agreed, commenting: "In my town that is against the law. You aren't allowed to change your grading or direct water to run onto other properties." ‌ Someone else suggested: "Go ask him what he's trying to do. Just discuss it with him." In a new post to update the situation, the resident revealed they had taken further action - but the situation had actually got worse. They shared a new photo of the street outside and, two weeks on from the lone sandbag, there were now at least five sandbags taking up the pavement and directing even more down the side of the poster's house. ‌ They said: "So this is the new form of blocking the sidewalk. It crosses the entire sidewalk causing a tripping hazard to anyone who using the sidewalk. "I've called the village to complain about the bags and they sent the police out a couple times to have them removed but they keep getting put back each time it rains. ‌ "I have purchased my own sandbag to stop the increased amount of water from rushing down the sidewalk next to my house to help control the problem he is causing to some degree. "Not sure what else to try to do. Talking to him is not a good idea because he and we do not get along and it will lead nowhere just as it has in the past." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! One said: "If they are on a public sidewalk, they must be available for the public to take." Someone else added: "The sidewalks are not private property. Anything left on pubic property is subject to being picked up and thrown out. "Grab them, toss them in a trunk and dispose of them in several random dumpsters. Maybe he'll get tired of spending money on new bags every time it rains." Several others also suggested the householder call the police or their local councillor every time it happens.

Free streaming service adds iconic 90s horror before remake hits cinemas

If you're a staunch believer that the original is always better than the modern day remake, it might be time to check out this classic 90s horror film before the new version hits cinemas this year. Time and time again, production studios aim to capitalise on the success of an earlier film by updating its storyline for today's audiences. But all too often, fans are let down as the new film struggles to find its own voice. Ahead of this year's release of I Know What You Did Last Summer, starring Madelyn Cline and The Studio star Chase Sui Wonders, you can decide for yourself after Tubi added the original slasher flick to its completely free streaming service. As part of a new release of titles coming to Tubi in the UK this June, Jim Gillespie's iconic horror film is available to watch. Released in 1997, it follows four teenage friends who are stalked by a hook-wielding killer after they accidentally ran over a man and dumped his body to conceal their secret. Starring Scooby-Doo and Buffy the Vampire Slayer star, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and her husband Freddie Prinze Jr., the film has become a beloved staple of the horror genre. In 2021, Amazon Prime Video created a TV series based on the original film which starred Madison Iseman. But, in 2022 director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and screenwriter Leah McKendrick successfully pitched an idea for a new installment in the franchise to Sony Pictures. This time around, five friends similarly kill a pedestrian in a car accident and cover up their involvement. However, after a stalker becomes hell-bent on killing them, they seek help from the survivors of the infamous Southport Massacre of 1997. Among the other titles coming to Tubi this month are several films from the Resident Evil Franchise, along with Priest (2011) and The Mist. Based on the popular Japanese video game franchise, Tubi is boasting 'Resident Evil', 'Resident Evil: Apocalypse', 'Resident Evil: Extinction', 'Resident Evil: Afterlife', 'Resident Evil: Retribution' and 'Resident Evil: The Final Chapter' on its platform from June 1. More Trending Numerous other hits, such as Bad Neighbours, River Wild and Employee of the Month will be coming to the site. In the sci-fi region, District 9 and Elysium, which stars Matt Damon, will also be available for you to binge. Tubi is a free streaming service. Got a story?
