Kyogo transfer fate sealed as ex Celtic hero's staggering cost per minute at Rennes revealed

The Ligue 1 club are poised to cut their losses on the Japan international just five months after shelling out £10m Rennes are poised to cut their losses on ex-Celtic hero Kyogo Furuhashi - after he cost them a whopping £83k for every minute played. The Japanese striker's £10million January switch to France has been an unmitigated disaster after being frozen out of the team by boss Habib Beye. ‌ The 30-year-old has made just six appearances since his money-spinning transfer five months ago - managing a combined total of 120 minutes. ‌ Kyogo has yet to break his goal duck, too and it's a far cry from his three-and-a-half years in Glasgow, where he plundered almost a century of goals. Now, reports in France suggest the former Hoops Treble winner is set to be shipped out this summer - costing the Ligue 1 club £83,333 for every minute he has spent on the pitch. Sources in France state that Kyogo has interest from Bundesliga clubs. He last featured for his club in the middle of April and has started just one game since arriving from Celtic. Boss Beye automatically triggered a contract extension as manager when he secured Rennes' survival and Kyogo is unlikely to feature in their final league match of the season against Marseille this weekend. ‌ Beye has indicated he only wants to work with players he sees as part of the future at the club. He said: "The final games of the season will determine my plan for next season. "We need to work with the players who want to stay at Rennes. ‌ "You have to listen to the opinions of players who want to leave and you don't spend too much time with this type of player." Kyogo sees Celtic return 'chance' explode for one key reason as Rennes boss starts ticking exit clock

The frontman has faced a nightmare spell in Ligue 1 since leaving Glasgow in January A return to Celtic has a "chance" following Kyogo Furuhashi the injury to Jota. The 30-year-old has endured a nightmare spell with Stade Rennes after he left the Scottish Premiership champions behind in January. ‌ He has yet to score his first goal for his new club after his £10million move with unimpressed boss Habib Beye giving the Japan international just one start so far. ‌ And things have gone from bad to worse for the attacker in recent weeks - having failed to make the 21-man team sheet for the last three games. A nagging shoulder injury that plagued him during his time in Glasgow with Celtic - but Beye has declared that injury is not the reason for the striker's absence. He said: "The squad is virtually complete. Only Ayanda Sishuba and Alidu Seidu are injured." He will now hope to get the nod for Saturday's clash with Nice - with Beye throwing down the gauntlet to his players to impress him before the end of the Ligue 1 campaign. With just two games remaining, he said: "We have taken the team on as we went along. The group had to assimilate the level of intensity we imposed on them. "Ot has nothing to do with their physical capacity, because we know they all have it. ‌ "It's more a question of the connection between each of them in terms of their state of mind and we want to see more of that from the players. "We'll take stock at the end of the season and assume our responsibilities." Winger Jota arrived at Celtic from Rennes in January with Kyogo going in the opposite direction. ‌ But after his return to Celtic Park, the Portuguese star faces nine months out through injury - leaving Brendan Rodgers ' men short in the attacking third. Speaking to Open Goal, host Paul Slane stated he would do everything to get Kyogo back for next season following Jota's injury with rumours in Japan circling over a switch back to the Hoops. ‌ Former Rangers man Andy Halliday responded: 'The mad thing is, there would be a chance as well. He's not playing at all. I think he (Brendan Rodgers) would take him back. Kyogo post-Celtic nightmare continues as striker left out again

The Japanese striker has endured a challenging time in France since his transfer to Ligue 1 from Celtic in January. Kyogo is still searching for his first goal for his new club and it definitely won't come in the league tie against Toulouse this evening. The striker is not named in the starting XI or substitutes for Rennes with manager Habib Beye opting against including Kyogo in his squad for the match. He is thought to be fit for the match but is not involved. Kyogo, 30, has played just six times for Rennes since his transfer move away from Celtic. He endured a spell out of contention due to a shoulder injury. Read more: Manager Beye said just last month that Kyogo was an integral part of the team, despite almost ignoring him since taking charge. Kyogo had signed under Jorge Sampaoli but quickly the manager was removed from his post with Beye appointed as his successor. "Even if he doesn't get the minutes he would like, he is an integral part of my squad," said Beye. "Kyogo's lack of playing time doesn't mean he doesn't meet my expectations, otherwise he wouldn't be in the squad and he wouldn't come on as a sub. "He's a quality player and he will bring something to the team, I'm convinced of that." Maintaining his confidence that the transfer switch will come good, Kyogo said in March: "I am gaining confidence. I'm putting my all into the game and showing my skills every day, and my time is increasing little by little. "I think I'm almost there. I will actively work on it and practice onwards for next season."

You know the context very well. "There are players on loan who will be returning, and we'll have to make choices about the future of certain players who are not featured. ‌ "There are players who will define their future differently than Stade Rennes. They have time, but the elements are already advanced to work on next season." While on international duty in March, Kyogo insisted he had no concerns over his minutes as he set his sights on the 2026 World Cup. ‌ He said: "I am gaining confidence. I'm putting my all into the game and showing my skills every day, and my time is increasing little by little. "I think I'm almost there. I will actively work on it and practice onwards for next season. Rennes planning transfer window around Habib Beye

Rennes planning transfer window around Habib Beye According to a report from Foot Mercato, Stade Rennais are planning on a future with Habib Beye as their manager. The former Red Star head coach is on a contract that lasts until the end of the season, but he has the option to automatically extend his stay by a further year. Advertisement Notwithstanding a dramatic turnaround in Rennes' fortunes, Beye should be the Rennes manager going into the 2025/26 season. The club have been impressed by his short tenure, where he was able to lift the underperforming team out of the relegation playoff spot and into 12th heading into this weekend. The feeling is mutual, and Beye appears happy in his role for the Breton side and wants to continue into the new campaign. Foot Mercato writes that Les Rouge et Noirs have asked Beye to think about the transfer window. He will likely be joined by some new faces at the club, with RC Strasbourg Alsace's Loïc Désiré the favourite to replace Frederic Massara as sporting director and Laurent Bessière as the director of performance.
