Rennes planning transfer window around Habib Beye
Rennes planning transfer window around Habib Beye
According to a report from Foot Mercato, Stade Rennais are planning on a future with Habib Beye as their manager. The former Red Star head coach is on a contract that lasts until the end of the season, but he has the option to automatically extend his stay by a further year.

Notwithstanding a dramatic turnaround in Rennes' fortunes, Beye should be the Rennes manager going into the 2025/26 season. The club have been impressed by his short tenure, where he was able to lift the underperforming team out of the relegation playoff spot and into 12th heading into this weekend. The feeling is mutual, and Beye appears happy in his role for the Breton side and wants to continue into the new campaign.
Foot Mercato writes that Les Rouge et Noirs have asked Beye to think about the transfer window. He will likely be joined by some new faces at the club, with RC Strasbourg Alsace's Loïc Désiré the favourite to replace Frederic Massara as sporting director and Laurent Bessière as the director of performance.

Lens interested in Marseille's Neal Maupay
RC Lens are interested in Olympique de Marseille centre-forward Neal Maupay (28), according to a report from Foot Mercato. Maupay proved useful for Marseille at times in the season, especially before Amine Gouiri's arrival in January. However, the signing of the Algeria international saw the former Brighton and Hove Albion, Brentford, and Everton forward used more sparingly in the second part of the campaign. Advertisement Over the course of the season, he scored four goals and registered four assists in 24 appearances. Foot Mercato understands, however, that Maupay may not have a future at the Vélodrome. He is, nonetheless, attracting interest. RC Lens are interested in the Frenchman, who could even be used in the deal that could see Facundo Medina make the opposite move. The publication reports that a €20m deal for the Argentine is close, however, with Lens' interest in Maupay, the centre-forward could be used as a makeweight in a potential deal. The Marseille forward is, in any case, strongly appreciated by Lens. GFFN | Luke Entwistle

Tension over failure to land key target
The story of Tottenham's campaign started with the visit of one of European football's emerging 'Golden Boys'. It is a little-known fact that Spurs' preparations for the 2024-25 campaign started with a visit from Desire Doue. Advertisement The talented attacker, then playing for Rennes, was so intrigued by Ange Postecoglou's project he made an undercover visit to the club's training ground in Enfield amid optimism a deal could be done. Fast forward nine months and 20-year-old Doue, who in the interim had signed for Paris St-Germain, was the star of the Champions League final. In retrospect, Spurs' failure to lure him was a sign of what was to come - a series of blows during a truly forgettable domestic season. It's important to stress their inability to land Doue was not for the want of trying - but while his reputation has soared, Tottenham and Postecoglou were left in despair all too often. Who is Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal? Liverpool linked with teenager also wanted by Newcastle
Liverpool is reportedly interested in 19-year-old Rennes center-back Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal, as the club continues to consider its defensive options ahead of next season. While Virgil van Dijk is staying put for another two years, there is uncertainty over Ibrahima Konate's future ahead of the expiration of his contract next year, while Joe Gomez is coming back from hamstring surgery and Jarell Quansah has just experienced a regressive campaign. Advertisement The Reds were interested in Dean Huijsen, but he plumped for Real Madrid, and a link has now emerged with another young defender in Ait Boudlal. Liverpool has already signed one defender in Jeremie Frimpong this summer, while Florian Wirtz could also be on the way. There is also interest in Ait Boudlal from other clubs in France as well as two clubs in Spain. Who is Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal? Given his young age and lack of top-level game time, most soccer fans are unlikely to have heard of him, but he is highly rated. In October last year, Ait Boudlal was named by English newspaper The Guardian as one of world's best 2006-born players. In February, he was sent on loan to French second tier side Amiens for the remainder of the campaign, and went on to make nine appearances, with eight of those coming as starts. Le360 Sport reports that Ait Boudlal is noted for "his ability to pass, his defensive intelligence, and a maturity rare for his age." Reds' transfer window state of play Boudlal is one of several players Liverpool is pursuing ahead of next season, with the club also working on deals for more high-profile targets in Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez. Advertisement Wirtz recently decided that he wanted to join Liverpool ahead of Bayern Munich, and there is belief that a deal could be wrapped up before the summer's first transfer window closes on June 10 — even if it isn't, the window reopens less than a week later and runs until the beginning of September. Talks are also ongoing over Kerkez, who the club has identified as its preferred long-term successor to Andy Robertson, who will turn 32 next season. Robertson was asked about Liverpool's interest in Kerkez ahead of Scotland's friendly with Iceland on Friday and responded: "We're not daft, it looks as if a deal could potentially be done. "But, until that is done, I've not even given that a second thought. I back myself. I've got confidence in my own ability and that drives me forward."
