Front Row Motorsports has confirmed that it will not appeal Layne Riggs's disqualification from the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Kansas Speedway. The 22-year-old's No. 34 Front Row Motorsports Ford was found to have violated Section 14.4.9.A after he crossed the line in second behind Carson Hocevar. FOX Sports NASCAR reporter Bob Pockrass has now shared that, "Front Row Motorsports will not appeal the Layne Riggs DQ from Kansas. The truck was released back to the team Sunday." You can't not be happy about it when you have a last-lap scuffle for the win." He also discussed his battle with race-winner Hocevar, stating: "He won the race, and you know, I think he was mad at me. I think he flipped me off all the way down the frontstretch coming to the checkered, but how can you be mad when you win the race, right? But it's all good. It's great to race with them Cup guys, and I think that just proves that I'm going to be there one day." NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series at Kansas Speedway results

NASCAR moving 2026 championship to Homestead as part of finale rotation

NASCAR will move its season finale to a familiar place to determine its national series champions. And then it will move again. Homestead-Miami Speedway, which played host to the championship race from 2002-19, will be the site of the 2026 finales for the three national series from Nov. 6-8, 2026. As for 2027, NASCAR said it will move to another site as part of a plan to rotate the finale. Phoenix Raceway, which has played host to the championships from 2020-2025, will be one of the tracks in the rotation. Other tracks in the rotation were not announced, but with its finale currently in early November, only warm-weather locations can be considered. What NASCAR doesn't know yet is how it will crown its champions. It has a committee working on the playoff format. The current format of eliminations results in four drivers eligible for the title in the final race, and the best finisher among those four at the finale is crowned the champion. Doing that, especially at one track, could favor or disfavor a driver depending on the driver's strength at that particular track. NASCAR's moving the championship around should increase the buzz as well as provide a little more competitive balance. "As we move forward, the rotating model will provide new challenges for competitors as well as opportunities for unique venues to host our loyal fans," NASCAR Executive Vice President Ben Kennedy said. Homestead, which had a race in March this year, will continue to have one race, which will be the championship in 2026. Phoenix will continue to have two races annually. NASCAR's plan to move the season finale was first reported by The Athletic. Bob Pockrass covers NASCAR and IndyCar for FOX Sports. Christopher Bell Demands More Than Safety Fixes as NASCAR Fails to Bring New Package to Talladega

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. NASCAR has confirmed that it is bringing no change to the superspeedway package for its cars this weekend at Talladega after failed tests leading up to the weekend. Championship contender Christopher Bell has discussed his thoughts ahead of Sunday's race, admitting that he wants more than just a change to the superspeedway package. NASCAR has been tackling cars going airborne since 2023, something that has plagued the Next Gen car design since its inception. The sanctioning body has implemented a number of aerodynamic changes to try and fix the problem, but while it's much less severe now, the issue of cars flipping still persists. Speaking with the media at Talladega including FOX Sports' Bob Pockrass, the driver pushed for a more substantial change from the sport. "There's no change for this week. I mean, I have my full faith in them that they're doing the best that they can to make sure the races and the cars are as safe as possible. So, honestly, I haven't really thought about that too much. Christopher Bell, driver of the #20 Rheem Toyota, is introduced during the NASCAR Cup Series Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway on April 13, 2025 in Bristol, Tennessee. Christopher Bell, driver of the #20 Rheem Toyota, is introduced during the NASCAR Cup Series Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway on April 13, 2025 in Bristol, Tennessee."I would enjoy a new superspeedway rules package - not just a safety package, but a rules package to try and change up the way that these races are going. But I haven't heard anything about that, and I know that NASCAR's working hard to make sure that the cars are safe. "But I think it's time to start thinking about the style of racing that we have here. You don't want to have to move field mileage and run at 50 or 60%. I don't think anybody wants to do that. Even whenever it comes to go-time and you start racing and pushing hard, the cars are so locked down that it becomes hard to move. Once the pack forms and you're bumper-to-bumper and door-to-door, you rarely see movement in the pack. "So, yeah, I would love to see them just change the rules package to allow us to race a little bit better. It's funny - we talked right before Atlanta and I was dogging the rules package, and then Atlanta ended up being a pretty good race. "But just the inherent difference between Atlanta being a mile and a half, and Daytona and Talladega being bigger tracks, the style of racing is very different between the two." October 2024 saw a number of changes to tackle this issue. An extended-height roof rail (a 2-inch polycarbonate fin) to deflect air if the vehicle slides sideways An extended rocker panel skirt to eliminate space between the car's floor and ground A fabric beneath the right-side roof flap functioning like a parachute to help keep cars grounded NASCAR is currently designing a new flap that will sit on the A-post of the car, designed to reduce lift when the car goes into a spin. NASCAR officials have provided their own insights into these potential changes. "We spent a lot of time looking at this. ... When Ryan's car crossed from the track, it hit the lip of the bus-stop chicane, which was protruding about 2 inches. So we had a pretty significant tire mark there and a chunk of asphalt missing," said Dr. Eric Jacuzzi, NASCAR's vice president of vehicle performance innovation aero via "The other part ... I went and looked at some helicopter research and when you hover a helicopter over pavement, the engine power is let's say '100.' When you move over to grass you need '120' or '130' — I believe it was 30% more power. That's because of that surface. To me, it makes a lot of sense that the grass, we would have lost some of that downforce we had." The A-post "started as a concept that wasn't really viable," he continued. "and then we had a couple brainstorms and sort of came up with this idea. It proved to be very, very effective."

Daytona 500 live updates: 2025 NASCAR Cup Series opener back to racing after more than 4-hour delay

It's been 14 weeks since Joey Logano won his third NASCAR Cup Series championship in Phoenix and now it's finally time to start the 2025 campaign with the Daytona 500. We've covered driver movement, previewed the season as a whole and kept track of a pretty significant lawsuit in the offseason, but now let's focus on the 'Super Bowl of motor racing events.' On Wednesday night all entered cars will turn one lap at top speed, the order of which is determined by a Tuesday night draw of numbers. The top 10 drivers then go into a shootout with the top two times from that session setting the front row for Sunday's race. The remaining cars are dropped — as evenly as possible, along with the top two qualifiers — into two 60-lap qualifying "duels" to be run Thursday night that set the field from spots three through 40. The finishing order for the first duel determines the inside row slots and the finishing order from the second duel sets the outside. Restrictor plate racing presents a randomizing element that makes handicapping the results challenging, and that's reflected in BetMGM's odds. Three drivers enter the week with identical 12-to-1 odds and 10 drivers come in at 20-to-1 or better. Ryan Blaney +1200Joey Logano +1200Brad Keselowski +1200Kyle Busch +1400Denny Hamlin +1500 Due to a new rule this year, a provisional is granted for a 'world-class driver' who does not run the Cup series full time to join the field for any event as the 41st car. Teams must put in the request at least 90 days ahead of time and only Trackhouse Racing did so on behalf of four-time Indianapolis 500 champion Hélio Castroneves. Castroneves will still attempt to qualify for the race and if he posts one of the top 40 times, there will be only 40 cars running on Sunday. If he doesn't make it on time, the Daytona 500 will have its largest field in 10 years. Seven-time series champion and winner of the 2006 and 2013 Daytona 500s Jimmie Johnson will attempt to make the field in a third entry for the Legacy Motor Club team that he owns. Johnson, 49, has run in the event twice since retiring from full-time racing in 2020, with a best finish of 28th. We're back to racing on Lap 24, with Joey Logano leading the field to green. Daytona 500 in weather delay: When will NASCAR race restart?

Daytona International Speedway is the second biggest track NASCAR visits each season, including for the sport's biggest event, the Daytona 500. When rain hits Daytona International Speedway, a 2.5-mile tri-oval superspeedway, it takes some time to get the racing surface dry and ready for the world's fastest stock cars to race. It takes around two or two-and-a-half-hours to dry Daytona. For Sunday's Daytona 500. The plan from NASCAR is to get back to racing within the hour, before 6 p.m. ET/5 p.m. CT. Per FOX Sports NASCAR reporter Bob Pockrass, there is some activity on pit road in Daytona. NASCAR drivers and teams are saying the racetrack is looking like it's ready to go. Austin Cindric leads the Daytona 500, which has been red-flagged due to weather since 1:17 p.m. CT after 11 laps complete of the scheduled 200 laps.
