MP to seek Centre's help for sanction of ROBs, RUBs

Vijayawada: Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath has announced that he would meet the Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnav and Railway Board chairman in Delhi very soon to request for sanction of Rail Over Bridges and Rail Under Bridges in Vijayawada Central assembly constituency. The MP along with the Central MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao visited Gunadala, Madhu Nagar, Devi Nagar, Ajit Singh Nagar and other areas on Tuesday and inspected the railway tracks, traffic problem and enquired about the pending works. He visited the Don Bosco School area in Gunadala where ROB works are pending for a long time. He visited the railway track between Devi Nagar-Vambay colony, Devi Nagar-Singh Nagar Katta area. The local residents explained to the MP about the problems being faced to cross the railway tracks. The MP has assured the local people that he would meet the railway minister and Railway Board chairman and request for the allocation of funds for construction of the Rail Over Bridge and Railway Under Bridges. Sivanath said he would discuss with the Vijayawada DRM in the meeting to be held on Wednesday on the problems of the Central constituency. The MP said Ajit Singh Nagar needs the second flyover to meet the traffic. He said the second Railway Over Bridge is related to both central and state governments. MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao said the Central constituency needs six Rail Over Bridges and three Rail Under Bridges. Later, the MP visited the Mylavaram Assembly constituency along with the MLA Vasantha Krishna Prasad. The MP has assured to develop the Kondapalli Railway station and for the halt of more trains at Rayanapadu railway station. He visited both Railway stations and spoke to the local people and passengers.

(Photo | Express) VIJAYAWADA: NTR District Collector Dr G Lakshmisha and Vijayawada Central MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao on Friday urged citizens to embrace yoga for better health, as part of the State government's month-long Yogandhra campaign. They participated in a special yoga session at BRTS Road, alongside local officials. The campaign, which runs from May 21 to June 21, aims to promote yoga as a household practice for wellness across Andhra Pradesh. Collector G Lakshmisha said the initiative is expected to reach two crore people statewide. In the NTR district alone, the goal is to train 10 to 15 lakh residents through 2,500 yoga instructors. Each village and ward secretariat will have seven trainers, with sessions designed to accommodate 50 participants. On the occasion, MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao emphasised that a healthy population is key to building a strong nation and achieving the visions of Swarnandhra and Viksit Bharat. He also praised the Prime Minister for promoting yoga globally, noting that more than 70 per cent of countries now practice it. RDO Kavuri Chaitanya, Additional Commissioner Dr D Chandrasekhar, In-charge DMHO Dr Gopalakrishna Nayak, Chief City Planner Sanjay Ratnakumar, and other officials were present.

Equipment to students with special needs distributed

Vijayawada: NTR District Collector Dr G Lakshmisha urged students with special needs to make effective use of government-provided facilities to overcome challenges and achieve high positions in life. On Monday, a programme for distribution of equipment to the students with special needs was organised under the aegis of the School Education Department and Samagra Shiksha. Central MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao and Collector Lakshmisha distributed the equipment to the students. Speaking on the occasion, the Collector announced that 273 pieces of equipment worth Rs 18.70 lakh were distributed to 173 beneficiaries with special needs under the School Education Department and Samagra Shiksha. The distributed items included battery-operated motorised tricycles, Braille kits, elbow crutches, TLM kits, wheelchairs, walking sticks, and rollators. The collector emphasised that these aids would greatly benefit students with special needs and highlighted the state government's special initiatives to empower such students. He encouraged students to study diligently and seize career opportunities. He also noted that similar programmes would be organised in future. MLA Umamaheshwara Rao stated that the state government is providing comprehensive support to differently-abled individuals and urged them to utilise government facilities and services. He assured that such assistance would continue in future, including the provision of new pensions with Sadaram certificates. He said that differently-abled individuals are receiving a pension of Rs 6,000. The Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) are also contributing to the holistic development of differently-abled individuals, he added. The MLA said that equipment to aid education is being provided, and the government is ready to supply as many such aids as needed. He further stated that equipment would be distributed immediately upon application. DEO UV Subba Rao, Samagra Shiksha Additional Project Coordinator G Maheshwara Rao, Samagra Shiksha Officer L Venkateshwara Rao, and others also participated.
