Auburn is becoming a household name in college baseball, with the most recent evidence coming Monday when it was revealed that the Tigers would host its third regional in four years, a program record. 'It's an extremely short list of teams that have hosted three of the last four regionals, and we're honored to be a part of it,' Thompson said Monday. 'To do it for the first time in our program's history, I'm thankful to be associated with such an amazing group of players, coaches, stakeholders, fans and administration that sees the amazing value and potential in Auburn baseball. The 2025 Tigers can't wait to compete this weekend and start the postseason in the newly renovated Plainsman Park in front of our amazing fans.' Auburn grabs the No. 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament due mostly to its success against the nation's best competition. The Tigers held the nation's No. 1 strength of schedule and won 20 games against quad-1 and quad-2 teams. They will face Central Connecticut, the winners of the NEC Tournament, on Friday to open the Auburn Regional. The Blue Devils are one of the best hitting teams in the NEC by leading the conference in team batting average (.331), triples (24), RBI (380), and slugging percentage (.503). Central Connecticut infielder Aidan Redahan boasts the nation's highest batting average at .458 with nine home runs and 69 RBI. Auburn baseball locked-in a national seed on Monday, claiming the No. 4 overall seed in the 2025 NCAA Baseball Tournament. Auburn will welcome NC State, Stetson, and Central Connecticut to Plainsman Park for the Auburn Regional beginning Friday afternoon. Auburn head coach Butch Thompson is excited for his team's draw, and hopes that Auburn fans will be treated to great baseball this weekend at Plainsman Park. 'I think we have a very well-rounded field here,' Thompson said Monday of the Auburn Regional field. 'We've had some good fields here. I know our fans are going to get treated to another amazing field of good regional teams here at Plainsman Park. I'm excited about what it's going to feel like in this ballpark and these people being alongside this team as we start this postseason journey.' Auburn's field is stacked with teams that won its respective conference championships in Stetson and Central Connecticut, and NC State, that finished the regular season two games away from winning the ACC. The winner of the Auburn Regional will face the winner of the Conway Regional, hosted by No. 13 seed Coastal Carolina. Auburn named host for NCAA Tournament Regional Round The Auburn Tigers have been tabbed as a host program for the upcoming Regional Round of the NCAA Baseball Tournament. Manager Butch Thompson's Tigers earned a host spot for the third time in four years, reclaiming the position after a brief hiatus in 2024. Auburn is one of seven SEC teams to host a regional round. The crop of conference foes, which makes up nearly half (7) of the 16 regional hosts, includes Georgia, Texas, LSU, Arkansas, Tennessee, Ole Miss, and SEC Tournament Champion Vanderbilt. After a 38-17 regular season campaign, Auburn fell in its first round SEC Tournament matchup against Texas A&M earlier this week. The opening round loss came after the Tigers were defeated twice in their final series of the season against Ole Miss, putting Ike Irish and company in an almost identical spot to their counterparts on the hardwood. Auburn basketball, like Auburn baseball, led the country in Quadrant 1 victories before dropping three of it's last four matchups before the NCAA Tournament. Like Bruce Pearl's basketball squad, Auburn baseball will look to flush a rough end to the regular season and parlay their regular season success into a deep tournament run. Auburn's opponents in the Regional Round will be announced Monday, May 26 during the 2025 D1 Baseball Selection Show at 11 AM CST on ESPN2.
