The fresh makeover comes after a huge blaze tore through the iconic Weatherfield property, leaving it completely gutted. The new interiors are also set to pave the way for explosive storylines, as life at No.8 takes a dramatic turn. Next week on the ITV soap, Corrie crook Lou Michaelis (Farrell Hegarty) is caught red-handed snooping where she shouldn't - and fans are left wondering if she's nabbed a wad of cash. The troublemaker clocks a bulging envelope of money stashed in Shona Platt's (Julia Goulding) bag during a boozy toast led by Nick Tilsley (Ben Price). Seizing her moment, Lou slips away into the Platt house - and it's not long before temptation gets the better of her. Just as she toys with swiping the stash, Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) bursts in and demands Lou empty her pockets, fearing the worst. George realised how Theo's speech moved Eileen and went to confront her after she'd been at the police who had just cleared her of any wrongdoing in Julie's death. The Sun exclusively revealed in January that she had quit the show after 25 years on the Salford set to look for new acting opportunities. 'The door is still firmly open but as I reached my 60th year, I decided it was time to embrace change, look for new adventures and live fearlessly,' she explained. One of Sue's major next steps is to become a a regular panellist on Loose Women after first appearing on the daytime panel show in 2023. Sue took a break from Corrie last year to star in Sister Act The Musical as Mother Superior and appeared in reality show I'm A Celebrity in 2022. Credit: ITV Monday's episode of Coronation Street saw Mick Michaelis go on a furious rampage after finding out 16-year-old Brody might not be his biological son. Mick turned violent as he demanded answers from wife Lou Michaelis about her past with their former pal, Kit Green. Corrie viewers got an upsetting insight into Lou's domestic abuse from Mick - which left the residents on the cobbles worried for Lou's safety. Meanwhile, Craig Tinker was determined to prove himself on the first day of his CID training. He pulled over Mick at the Weatherfield Precinct for drink-driving. Coronation Street is facing a financial crisis due to soaring production costs, a decline in advertising revenue, and a drop in viewing figures, leading to budget cuts and cast departures. Consequently, ITV is reducing the length of both Coronation Street and Emmerdale episodes from hour-long to 30-minute installments, starting in January 2026. This change will create a "soaps power hour" where Emmerdale airs at 8pm, followed by Coronation Street at 8:30pm each weeknight. But with ratings falling and viewers switching to streamers like Netflix, soap stars are fearing the axe - should they be worried?
